Lars was great on black album and both loads. Just more rock oriented and simplified.
I found out years later that he does. I hear that for a lot of songs and have yet to hear it still. Lightning and Puppets both have a lot of double bass but it's barely audible. Have another listen and you'll probably hear it.

I think what stands out about Metallica among all the other thrash bands at the time was how expertly crafted the arrangements were.
What some people have called here "cocky" I call joy of playing.

Ive always thought both songs had similarities. People talk about dyers eve but rarely mention this song
No I get that, more much intricacies.
According to online tabs, Damage Inc is 190 bpm and Dyers Eve is 195 bpm... although granted Metallica aren’t exactly known for their time keeping so yeah basically the same
There's about a 5 bpm difference, but Dyer's Eve is technically faster. Though I believe that My Apocalypse is actually the fastest.

Yeah it's hard as hell! that's why I haven't done Angel of Death, etc yet - need more time to practice. And yeah I only do heels up. I never thought heels down would provide power so I never considered trying. You have any info on heels down?
