No dude, this song is like, in their top 20 best metallica songs, and of course this song is one of the hardest on guitar because of that crazy in the verse, pre chorus, and the part after the intro.
What a crazy drum track. Lars is for real. He can't perform this shit nowadays, but he actually wrote it! His drum tracks are definately among the best drum tracks ever composed in metal music. It's a joy to listen to drummers like Josh performing it live.
@@geraldlz5827 It's not hard to find differences when comparing with the original track just by having heard the song enough times. You don't need to be a drummer. Still, I don't consider them mistakes, as the differences actually added flavor and personality to the cover.
your actually doing a great service to the drum community that would want to watch someone play these songs note for note so they can learn the little tactics you use when actually trying to learn these songs
Josh Steffen are you not in a band? If not you definately should be! Great videos thanks for what your doing im actually learning from your videos mate KEEP IT UP
Haha I like that part too! I have UA-cam Red so I oftentimes just listen to Josh's covers while I'm surfing of doing other stuff on my phone and I always make sure to click back so I can watch that part, and if I miss it, I'll start it over so I can see it. Cheers!
Josh Steffen I certainly will do, Sir. Got a new source of inspiration for my own drumming, and going to cement that by looking for some Megadeth =D Keep it up, man. I'm in complete awe.
Level whatever charges you like at Metallica: they're greedy, money hungry, they've made bad music, "St. Anger", but don't deny them this one thing: when it comes to arrangements, they're in a class by themselves. Each section of this epic is brilliantly designed to evoke to horrors and sadness of war; the guitars sound like the cries of the wounded, the bass hovers over the battlefield like vultures scoping prey, and the drums ring out like "machine gun fire". Even after all the death/black/power/speed/folk/gothic/thrash metal I've (no doubt) killed brain cells to, this track still gives me a chill. And props to Josh here for getting right to the heart of the matter with some air-tight drumming; your double kick rings out like a death knell. Again; chilling.
Word... If he's monetizing this stuff I may ask for a Christmas card cuz I've been blowing this shit up on the regular for the past 4 months. What a treat to watch and listen to. Can't get enough...
+Sports Man Goronsky . Although I have seen others covers from him, this one is definitely up there. This guy not only shows technic, his hits are with pleasure and decoration to. Sabroso.
Some rare early ride work from Lars. I usually don't like when guys put flairs in their covers, but that double bass fill with the cymbal mutes in the second verse was pretty badass.
Watching your videos fill me with so much envy and admiration... LOL I don't play any instrument at all, but if I would, I'd like to play the drums like you. You make this look so easy! Keep drumming and keep uploading! ;)
I’ve been browsing your playlists you are my favorite drummer on UA-cam. Any way we have similar styles of drumming. I love playing the same stuff. I’m so happy you started a channel too because without you and a few other drummers I wouldn’t be where I am drumming.
I´ve never watched a drum cover of anything in my life. I´m glad yours were the first vid I watched, simply amazing job! Excellent cover of a great song.
Dude, that kicked ass! Awesome job man. At first i didn't like the snare sound but it kind of grew on me ast the song progressed. Wish you lived in Long Beach.
You are probably the best person I've ever subscribed to but every time I watch your videos I just get jealous at how fucking good you are you killed this video
dude ... you are fucking awesome! I showed your videos to a few friends of mine... have sure that you earned a lot of fans here in São Paulo/Brazil!!! \m/
I believe this is one of the most underrated metallica songs.
Not by any respectable guitarist, it isn't! lol This one was a bitch, especially including the solo.
Lol which means Metallica are untouchable.
ErizotDread my dad told me he can't play this and I've seen him play literally every other song mad by this band up till hardwired
No dude, this song is like, in their top 20 best metallica songs, and of course this song is one of the hardest on guitar because of that crazy in the verse, pre chorus, and the part after the intro.
Underrated? Not even close. If you’re a real fan this song is top 5

Most of his other covers are great. I think this is the one he gets wrong though. good, but wrong.

My pleasure. I'm not always note for note but regardless, I can see how they are beneficial.

Josh Steffen sorry im 5 year late to your videos (i just noticed the dates lol)
3:00 in, the double bass drum is genius. Love your videos dude, keep it up
1:09 that was pretty satisfying

7:56 dude that fill is really fckng insane dude... out of this fckng world
3:01 XD
He knows that he was at his moment, his happy face say it all.
Wow, you're hitting both toms at once in the beginning? I'm not brave enough, going to just do singles on the floor tom. hehe.
Whatever works!
Mike!!!!
That’s how I been playing it too on the floor Tom lmao
@@chrisbenj3819 On the drum track he does both toms, also very key part missed in this cover was the toms in the interlude first time around.
That's one of my all time favorite Metallica songs.... Sooooo underrated for a genius masterpiece like this!!! 👑🤘🏻👑🤘🏻
There are no words...
I've spent the last 2 hours watching you covering thrash, and you are incredible.
So freaking jealous xD
Thanks a lot man! If it's only 2 hours then you got a long way to go! Just kiddin.

Well, I only have a few megadeath songs, but many others you may enjoy.
I just checked this out.
I'm dead.
You should join that Metallica band. I hear they're pretty good.

listening to this in sync with lambchopper's guitar cover is goddamn amazing
He's the man.
Anyone who says Lars is crap needs to have a closer listen. Great cover, your drums sounds amazing, love the hats and snare in particular.
Bro, seriously. I always thought that the other band members of Metallica carried him, but this track proves otherwise.

There are rumors that Charlie Bebante helped with recording drums on MOP. Who knows :-))
@@martinblackwhite actually we will know if it was plays by lars. for example the random drum fills

3:32 loving the use of the ride cymbal
Seeing this 8 years later, you killed this my boy one of the hardest songs to play front to back. You are an animal

I love the fills you add to the songs.
Great job dude! \m/
You should do a cover of Judas Priest's Painkiller
copy that:)
Painkiller is simple compared to this. It's a workout on the legs, but nothing even remotely comparable
You could pass for Lars' son.
I was thinking the same thing
Thanks!
Some rare early ride work from Lars. I usually don't like when guys put flairs in their covers, but that double bass fill with the cymbal mutes in the second verse was pretty badass.
