I like the way you commentate on hazards that are ahead like pedestrians crossing on the island, it really makes people realise how observant you need to be. Keep up the great work 👍
Lucky bugger took me 3 goes to pass my class 2 and 5 goes to pass my class 1 this was 3 years ago. Passed my class 1 and 2 both at 25. Only ever wanted to drive class 1. Good luck for the future.
congratulations, to you on passing you Class 1 and anybody else that has done so, I passed mine about 10 years ago and the best thing I did was join a courier company 1st driving 7.5 tonners, then they moved me upto the 18tonner, then to class 1, it gave me loads of experience and now I do shop deliveres, 2 runs a day 9.5hrs ;) lovely jubbly, good luck all you new drivers, be safe out there

New Mirrorless Daf parked up in Chippenham earlier this week, I believe the top gear crew had it. Look really nice I would of love to see inside it and drive one. But I like the 69 plate mirrorless merc I drive at the moment. They seem to drive better than the earlier pre mirrorless models.
Love the idea of the colour sheme when you get your own truck. My truck was going to be fire engine red, ended up plain white!!!, Three reasons, didn't see the point of spending thousands on colour schemes, second I could sub contract easier, third when pulling expensive loads like whisky from Scotland I didn't stand out.
Just come across your channel and I've watched a few videos now, my dad is a HGV tanker driver and he doesnt talk about it much, he's been trying to get me into it haha & I've just got a lot of respect for you guys, I did before obviously, but a lot more now, you guys are fab 👌
25:28 the DAF CF85 with a Marsden conversion, best cab I ever had, a bunk upstairs (front to back) with a fridge, microwave, TV and chest of draws, plus one bunk behind the driver. I do like the Merc though, and I hear the bed is the best in the business.

Had a Honda 6 years and my dealership has been superb . I would politely decline their offer to ask you to pay !! Never drove the mirrorcam but appear to be ok . Heard you are getting IVECO's . I'd book the Chiropractor now if I were you.
Good video ,love your commentary good instructions on depots you deliver to well prepared for any eventuality, and yes many delevery points can be quite difficult to negotiate as being a class one c+e driver myself retired now for 15 years ,I would have loved to driven all those modern trucks with amazing views out those Camara enhanced mirrors must make reversing so much easier, good luck in getting your own truck and starting your own business all the best mate 👍.

I need to buy a family house first. Then save for a year so hoping 2024. Do you mind if I ask if you paid for the truck outright or on finance? Also what about the trailer ? I really need to sort this sort of stuff out soon I’d love to hear more about it .
@@lukecinahgv the unit is on finance, the trailer was purchased for 8k+ Vat, made in 2010. i could choose between this trailer and a newer one (2013) but i needed a 4.42m and the other one was 4.2m (at 13k)
@@perlamiseriaccia trailer wise I wouldn’t need to go taller than 4.2M, however. I’d rather a flatbed myself. Think they look better for videos and photos ect. So you recommend buying trailer outright and then unit on finance. Sounds like a good idea to me
@@lukecinahgv yeah, I went for a 4.42m because the internal height is 2.9m and it's the best compromise, I never had a request for a trailer trailer. I know people who bought 4.2m trailers but couldn't do few jobs. 4.5 and above is not needed and it will increase your fuel consumption slightly due to headboard. But if you are looking for flat bed than it's no problem 🤣 Consider also rental trailers, might be easier for Start and you will have extra cash in hand if you need it👍🏻

Haulage There’s nothing like a plan is there Put the cart before the horse but go and see those people first for a consignment number that nobody else will know about and waste your time The mirrors turning off is a pain in the ass, I don’t mind them but after driving mirrorless for sometime I do prefer normal mirrors If there’s a car behind you with LED headlights they flicker in the mirror screens I’m an inch taller than you too Luke and I too struggle! There’s a hidden storage locker in the wing below that main one, on some of the Actros models anyway
Mate do NOT pay Honda for that plate til you find out more! If the company are only charging Honda half the cost it sounds like it's something they'll be able to use again (otherwise they'd be billing Honda the full amount) and NEXT time a Type-R cylinder head comes in to be pressure tested they'll have the plate. NEXT time someone WON'T be paying Honda £700 for it because you already will have done. Unless you're getting an actual part out of it, they can sod off and take it as an investment in their toolbox. Would they charge you for a tool in their own workshop? Cost of doing business for them, they can afford it.

Regarding your Honda. Honda have a cheek. As you say, they should have the equipment to fix their products. They are asking for £700 off you to fix your car, and then they will have a piece of equipment that they can then fix other vehicles with the product. If you have to pay for it, you ask for it, as its basically yours!

You could try some vitamin K2, and se if the nosebleeds get better. 200 micrograms / day, are usually the recommended dose. Don't if you are on any type of blood thinners.
I'd have been on the phone to Hondas main support team, sounds really dodgy what you were saying, in no way should a main dealer be asking you to pay for equipment to test or make standard car parts on a fairly new car
Re Honda, I had a CBR600 from new and the engine seized at 70 ish mph on the A3. Honda were not interested despite the fact it was bough new from them, serviced by them, and even charged me the recovery fee. Amazing bikes, not had a car off them, but shocking customer service.
I do like those mirrorless mirrors, but, you have got to think that, with vehicles that have LED lights, you are going to get them lights flashing because of the speed differences, Luke did you have this problem at all ?
How tall are you Luke :) Honda, write them a letter telling them to do one, tell them they are taking unreasnably long time to repair your car and you want a hire car.
Main dealers avoid Mazda had my Mx5 for four weeks before I brought it home as they wanted to keep buying parts to fix it because the ECU would not communicate I found a garage that races them they fixed it otherwise it would have been a right off
Mate, you think that is bad with Honda. I have an ID.3 and it's been great for me, no issues. But some peoples have just stopped working all of a sudden, they sent them to VW and they don't know how to fix it. VW have to contact VW Germany and have to wait for information on how to fix it and have to wait for tools to be sent over. Some people have had their brand new cars at the dealership for months because the dealership just doesn't know how to fix the things.
Complain to VW uk (head office) if needed. I’ve seen people with financed vehicles even get money back. Pretty good service and we did it to get a proper courtesy car rather than the crap the dealer was fobbing off, they delivered it and let us have it the whole time and even replaced a tyre for free with a puncture at the roadside. Can’t fault them, just the inept dealers.
@@Horizon301. Yeah I mean if it was me I'd be there until they sorted it out. Luckily for me my ID.3 is working as it should without issue. Also, huge car demand at the moment, lots of people selling their 1 year old EVs back to the dealer for more than they bought them for!
@@phixi0n Yeah, misread that. I heard they have nothing but issues with certain things, including the infotainment system. Sadly they are cost cutting so much that I wouldn’t want a VW again and even Audi is borderline acceptable. They went from having industry leading technology and quality, to glitchy systems and cheap moulded plastics all over, Audi thankfully still has the technology albeit quality can’t match BMW’s. Management is running these brands within the Marque to the ground while the budget brands of Skoda and SEAT can adapt and thrive with the lesser quality at their price point.
I did the driver familiarisation with that actual demo to a customer before Christmas. Went on initial run with the driver to make sure he knew of all the controls, possibilities. Regarding your Honda car. Do not pay a Honda Dealer to obtain special tools to mend your car. They are taking the rip. They have Dealer Standards to achieve, and maintain if they want to be ( and continue to be) an official Dealer. You do not have to buy their special tools to diagnose your cars fault. They reflect all of their overheads in their retail Labour rate. You must contact Customer Services at Honda UK and tell them what their dealer is trying to do to you. Furthermore, I would ask Honda to make a policy contribution to your costs, as you would not expect a premium manufacturer like them to have engine reliability issues at this early stage of your cars life. Good luck, but do not pay your local dealer for something they should already have access to.
Tell Honda to f-off! They can’t back charge you for tooling they should have. Tell them to deliver car to a Type R specialist if they’re not capable of doing the work they said they could do.
Loved the video as usual, but there are far far too many pop ups. To the point I nearly turned off. I pay for UA-cam to support the subscriptions I watch, but also because adverts do my t1ts in. Happy with the avail at the start and the truckers book, but the pop ups are not good.
Nice truck,got me thinking,with cars all heading to be electric in 2030, how is this going to affect trucking,as they'd need batteries the length of a trailer, considering the milage you do.🤔

Tesco say their two 37t electric DAF CFs have a range of 100 miles. Reading DAF's site, they have a 350kWh battery that can charge from flat in 75 minutes with a 250kW/400A charger. So for long haul distribution, that's something like driving 100 minutes, charging 60 minutes, and repeat (or a pantograph fitted to your roof...). And that's assuming an abundance of working charging stations.
What would the procedure be if your driving in the middle lane of the motorway & the cameras fail? I don't really like the mirrorless trucks for that exact reason. They could be off the road for a wee while getting them fixed.
What would the procedure be if your 'normal' mirrors were broken? Trucks are off the road for all sorts of reasons, all the time, it's the joy of machines.
If you pay for half of the equipment needed, then ask for half of it when the job is done. After all, when your job is finished, they will still have it for any job they get in the future.
your saying like not being able to see the mirrors is a good thing, i hope you dont go anywhere near trees on that n/s with you not at all being able to tell how close you are before you clear a branch or that branch costs you 3k for a new camera unit
Re: Honda repair. No reason to pay for the engine specialist to upgrade their equipment. It is understandable that they may not want to invest a huge sum for something they may never use again, but asking you to pay is not on. If you do, you'd have to be paid a royalty each time they used it in the future. There are many such engine specialists in the country, and carriage charges will be far cheaper than that huge demand. Just needs some research, maybe Google and somr phone calls. Were these engines raced anywhere? If so, contact the race teams for details of the specialists they use. Good luck.
I'm a machinist in th US, the way it works here for fixturing is it is included in the cost of the job. Usually, the job is quoted with that cost built in, so in the case of your head it would be 1500 plus the cost of the job. The exception is if the fixture is going to work for multiple jobs, then the company eats the cost and gets it back over the life if the fixture. It seems to me like you shouldn't be billed for this fixture.
I love Mercedes, I haven't driven lorrys but the coaches are so nice, the seat position is like a car and the Interior is so nice, iveci new trucks look horrible I see them coming towards me just looks like a huge multiple smile faces on the front, and it looks like they tried to copy scania look but just completely bottled it

I whould tell Honda that if your going to have to pay for the tool's to fix it that you want the tool aswell when its fixed because your the one paying for it and see what they say then.
What is the point of removing the mirrors for a camera? Looks like it juts out just as far as mirrors or at least not much less. Now you have just another thing that can go wrong with the truck. I guess that means there's no adjustments necessary and it gives a perfect view down the side. Just thing we're too reliant on technology. EDIT I guess that trailer tracking is handy. For someone who only drives a rigid I don't know what I'm talking about 😉

Have you noticed the major flaw with mirror cam, I’ve been driving the new actros for 15 months and it took me about 5 minutes to see it, be annoyed by it…..and now I’m kinda used to it lol EDIT: In fact there are two major flaws, just remembered another.
To turn mirrorcam on when ig off, press mirror cam switch on door panel adj to central locking button. You probably also have same switch next the bed which means you can see if someone’s messing with curtains /diesel tank even with curtains closed at night.

I've also have a Scania S, but it's a lovely light green to match the trailer. I would like a bit more power but it's what I could afford at the time.

The rocker switch below the window switches turns the mirrors back on, the best way to drive it is to get it on to cruise control as soon as possible

I'm in the trade and legally they can't bill you for a tool they need to do the job.thats a expense the garage has to swallow

Re Honda, I had a CBR600 from new and the engine seized at 70 ish mph on the A3. Honda were not interested despite the fact it was bough new from them, serviced by them, and even charged me the recovery fee. Amazing bikes, not had a car off them, but shocking customer service.

Honda, write them a letter telling them to do one, tell them they are taking unreasnably long time to repair your car and you want a hire car.
Main dealers avoid Mazda had my Mx5 for four weeks before I brought it home as they wanted to keep buying parts to fix it because the ECU would not communicate I found a garage that races them they fixed it otherwise it would have been a right off
Mate, you think that is bad with Honda. I have an ID.3 and it's been great for me, no issues. But some peoples have just stopped working all of a sudden, they sent them to VW and they don't know how to fix it. VW have to contact VW Germany and have to wait for information on how to fix it and have to wait for tools to be sent over. Some people have had their brand new cars at the dealership for months because the dealership just doesn't know how to fix the things.
Complain to VW uk (head office) if needed. I’ve seen people with financed vehicles even get money back. Pretty good service and we did it to get a proper courtesy car rather than the crap the dealer was fobbing off, they delivered it and let us have it the whole time and even replaced a tyre for free with a puncture at the roadside. Can’t fault them, just the inept dealers.
@@Horizon301. Yeah I mean if it was me I'd be there until they sorted it out. Luckily for me my ID.3 is working as it should without issue. Also, huge car demand at the moment, lots of people selling their 1 year old EVs back to the dealer for more than they bought them for!
@@phixi0n Yeah, misread that. I heard they have nothing but issues with certain things, including the infotainment system. Sadly they are cost cutting so much that I wouldn’t want a VW again and even Audi is borderline acceptable. They went from having industry leading technology and quality, to glitchy systems and cheap moulded plastics all over, Audi thankfully still has the technology albeit quality can’t match BMW’s. Management is running these brands within the Marque to the ground while the budget brands of Skoda and SEAT can adapt and thrive with the lesser quality at their price point.
I did the driver familiarisation with that actual demo to a customer before Christmas. Went on initial run with the driver to make sure he knew of all the controls, possibilities.
Regarding your Honda car. Do not pay a Honda Dealer to obtain special tools to mend your car. They are taking the rip. They have Dealer Standards to achieve, and maintain if they want to be ( and continue to be) an official Dealer. You do not have to buy their special tools to diagnose your cars fault. They reflect all of their overheads in their retail Labour rate. You must contact Customer Services at Honda UK and tell them what their dealer is trying to do to you. Furthermore, I would ask Honda to make a policy contribution to your costs, as you would not expect a premium manufacturer like them to have engine reliability issues at this early stage of your cars life. Good luck, but do not pay your local dealer for something they should already have access to.

Tesco say their two 37t electric DAF CFs have a range of 100 miles. Reading DAF's site, they have a 350kWh battery that can charge from flat in 75 minutes with a 250kW/400A charger.
So for long haul distribution, that's something like driving 100 minutes, charging 60 minutes, and repeat (or a pantograph fitted to your roof...). And that's assuming an abundance of working charging stations.

What would the procedure be if your driving in the middle lane of the motorway & the cameras fail? I don't really like the mirrorless trucks for that exact reason. They could be off the road for a wee while getting them fixed.
What would the procedure be if your 'normal' mirrors were broken? Trucks are off the road for all sorts of reasons, all the time, it's the joy of machines.

your saying like not being able to see the mirrors is a good thing, i hope you dont go anywhere near trees on that n/s with you not at all being able to tell how close you are before you clear a branch or that branch costs you 3k for a new camera unit
Re: Honda repair. No reason to pay for the engine specialist to upgrade their equipment. It is understandable that they may not want to invest a huge sum for something they may never use again, but asking you to pay is not on. If you do, you'd have to be paid a royalty each time they used it in the future.
There are many such engine specialists in the country, and carriage charges will be far cheaper than that huge demand. Just needs some research, maybe Google and somr phone calls. Were these engines raced anywhere? If so, contact the race teams for details of the specialists they use.

I'm a machinist in th US, the way it works here for fixturing is it is included in the cost of the job. Usually, the job is quoted with that cost built in, so in the case of your head it would be 1500 plus the cost of the job. The exception is if the fixture is going to work for multiple jobs, then the company eats the cost and gets it back over the life if the fixture. It seems to me like you shouldn't be billed for this fixture.
I love Mercedes, I haven't driven lorrys but the coaches are so nice, the seat position is like a car and the Interior is so nice, iveci new trucks look horrible I see them coming towards me just looks like a huge multiple smile faces on the front, and it looks like they tried to copy scania look but just completely bottled it

What is the point of removing the mirrors for a camera? Looks like it juts out just as far as mirrors or at least not much less. Now you have just another thing that can go wrong with the truck. I guess that means there's no adjustments necessary and it gives a perfect view down the side. Just thing we're too reliant on technology.
EDIT I guess that trailer tracking is handy. For someone who only drives a rigid I don't know what I'm talking about 😉

Have you noticed the major flaw with mirror cam, I’ve been driving the new actros for 15 months and it took me about 5 minutes to see it, be annoyed by it…..and now I’m kinda used to it lol

To turn mirrorcam on when ig off, press mirror cam switch on door panel adj to central locking button. You probably also have same switch next the bed which means you can see if someone’s messing with curtains /diesel tank even with curtains closed at night.
