She really could become a good vocalist if she gets a good vocal coach. Those F5s and G5s are amazing. And I don't think she's a mezzo. Her voice is not low at all.
Well you're going to have to specify which Beyonce we're talking about. Beyonce's voice has always lied in A3-A5 area which is where all mezzos lay generally and that hasn't changed until recently. And even recently Beyonce's tessitura is still not that low in comparison to what it used to be. Just because she has a developed lower register doesn't mean her voice is specifically "low". I do think Kelly is soprano-ish as well. But maybe just has too many fears about hitting high notes.
I haven't heard anyone call Beyonce a contralto her voice is way too high for that. Contraltos rarely even access the 5th octave I mean take Cher or Mahalia Jackson for example even tho Mahalia could've also been a Mezzo. True contraltos are very rare. And then take Mariah or Aretha two sopranos whom had always possessed extremely extensive lower register just like Beyonce. Mezzos usually have a certain level of comfortability going down to the 3rd octave that Lizzo doesn't have at all, and her 4th octave notes are very small sounding for what typical mezzos would sound like.
TayTay BeyNippy Mahalia is a mezzo. I believe Beyonce used to be a soprano but her voice became a high mezzo with her pregnancies (very evident when you look at her passaggi points, her secondo passaggio used to be around C5 which is very much a soprano passaggio and now it’s around a B-flat). And I agree about Kelly being a soprano.
"She’s closest to a (Light) Lyric Mezzo Soprano. Still room for improvement on technique but I enjoy her vocals." Yeah, nope. EDIT: I've been analyzing her voice and she really does sound like a Soprano. She's a darker one obviously but her voice is still light - no real Mezzo depth. She could be a Full Lyric Soprano if she trained.
it doesn’t matter for the classification : her tone is light and her tessitura seems just like the soprano and she seems very good in belting and her stamina in the 5th octave is what makes her a soprano
SystemofaDownsupport She's honestly a darker but light Soprano. Possible Full Lyric if she trained. But Mezzos and Contraltos can squeal and squeak up there so that's not a good reason. I currently study the voice.
@Cherryx Meghan is not a Mezzo. You listen to her and you're telling me she is? Lol. I see why people tend to think Christina is one as well. She's very chesty with her mix and lowers her larynx a lot, thus she loses ease and clarity in the upper register while giving her a darker tone. When she doesn't do this, you can hear her natural Soprano come through. Similar to Toni Braxton's case. People always think she's a Contralto haha. It's not about how low they support either. That's very much technique related. A Soprano with flawed technique is still a Soprano and they will have a less resonant lower register than a Mezzo if they even have the range. Vocal type and Fach is determined by passaggio (transition points and they don't lie), tessitura, and timbre. Range is very misleading, just look at Mariah Carey.
The repeated G5's are an indicator that she isn't. Even high Mezzo's like Kierra Sheard wouldn't be able to sing phrased high G's like that. It might sound "light" like a Mezzo reaching the top of their staff however the fact that she can sing a line on G5 shows that she's some sort of Soprano.
@@Onionoil467 kierra is not a high mezzo she's a high soprano. Kierra has comfortably hit a5's bb5's and a few b5s. Kierra has one of the strongest g5's for a soprano. Kierra voice sits wayyy to high to be mezzo
it sounds like she actually might just be a Lyric Soprano, not a Light-Lyric Mezzo Soprano bc her timbre is too light and her voice sounds too light to be a Mezzo.
"Light-Lyric Mezzo Soprano" is actually not a Fach. A Mezzo will have a fuller timbre by default. Singers classed as this are usually darker Sopranos with lower tessituras. Usually Full Lyric Sopranos and this is what Lizzo can develop into with proper training.
I kinda think fach is more subjective and relative than people think. In classical I suspect it to be fairly technical by looking at passagios but honestly they can easily be half a note off. So it's likely about looking for what particular is most likely the best for the singer to focus on. Then going all in.
The only reason it appears more subjective and relative is because Fach was never intended for contemporary singing. It came way before our modern music. Also to be fair, passaggios are still reliable hints to voice type for any singer provided they know how to move through chest, head, and mixed voices. Passaggios being one note off is still rather crucial. Sopranos, Mezzos, and Contraltos have a transition area in Eb4-F4. That's a small interval. The order of importance for determining voice type is basically passaggio = tessitura > timbre > range.
My lowest is D2 if I'm singing and not making funny voices cause if I do it's lower but I know my Belting starts at f#4 and ends at G5 and my falsetto/whistle starts around E5 and ends at F7 that I know of because of an app I use but the app doesn't tell you octaves exactly so can someone help?
