    My philodendron bipinnatiidum had a variegated baby pop up in my pot last week so i separated it and was looking to see if this was normal because I couldn’t find a video of one anywhere until now I didn’t realize the plant was able to mutate I thought it would always be solid green this was pretty cool to see in person

    That TB looks like it’s got a cool caudex!
    All that prayer plant talk sounded a bit dirty… lol nasty, if you will.. 😂❤ I LOVE learning all this!! Thank youuu!!
    Ok totally random, but the mechanism that makes the leaves “pray” reminds me of the viscous coupling in a Subarus all wheel drive system. If one wheel or two turn faster than the others, it heats up the viscous fluid in the coupling and pressure up, making it so that the gears in the drive shafts that meet in the coupling meet together, making all wheels turn at the same rate, preventing slipping… I know, not the same thing, that’s what I equated it to in my mind lol

    You said "umbel!" Not "peduncle" which every other plant tuber says. I knew Peduncle wasn't right but I didn't know what the correct term was. Bless you.
    Now to learn what an "inflorescence" really is on an aroid. I think it would really be "spadix." I never studied botany and it's harder to find these things out than you would think.

    Those blooms on the compacta 😮😍 Absolutely perfect!
    I have Philo Fuzzy Petioles, specifically a larger one, that will never successfully open a new leaf! They constantly rot before they open. I've tried "everything" I can think of. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @reallybigplant
      @reallybigplant  3 місяці тому

      Oof that’s so frustrating about your philodendron.. maybe you could try manually opening the petiolar sheath much sooner, like before it seems like it would be ready to open naturally? If the leaf is likely to rot anyway maybe that could be worth a shot and see what happens😅 You could maybe also try just slicing off the very tip of the petiolar sheath and see if the new leaf can poke out. My philodendron maximum was also not growing new leaves until I did that and a struggling leaf came out, but it has not grown since….and now this is reminding me that I should try doing that again haha.
      There’s also a technique where you drape a wet cloth or paper towel over the petiole to locally increase humidity but that’s mainly for when the leaf is already emerging and is just a little bit stuck. That didn’t work for this thaum or the p. maximum when I tried but has worked on my big philo cordatum..
      Just spitballing, sorry if this is all stuff you already thought of. I hope you can coax out some new leaves! 😊🤞💜🌱✨
