- My friend knows that I'm into precious metals and coins so he tells me the other day that he found his old coin collection at his parents place and asked if I wanted to see it. I said absolutely. He then says, "I'm pretty sure some of the old coins are silver." Well, just watch the video and see what I find! Visit www.thesilverpicker.com to learn more!

Question: Could you do a summary video on what years do all coins have silver content in them? Specifically foreign coins. I have seen numerous flea market booths, and garage sale booths where folks have put a bowl of foreign coins for a very low cost like $0.25 to $0.50 each. Thanks
That's a great idea
American coinage stopped being 90% silver in 1964 For commerce. Dimes quarters half dollars and dollars. There are literally dozens if exceptions to this rule like Kennedy half's 65-69 were 40%. Mint sets of course have varieties of silver as well. There's a lot to learn just in the US coin game. International coins..where that'd be tough to learn them all
USA: 1964
Australia: 1966
United Kingdom: 1947
Canada: 1967
New Zealand: 1946
I found the Sphinx coin and the dark coin with the central hole on the lower left most interesting.
Silver excluded.
Coin collector from the UK here. The 50 pence piece is an extremely common coin in the UK. We don't have 25p coins, only 20p and 50p. The 50p peice celebrated its 50 year anniversary this year: when it was introduced in 1969 it had one of highest buying powers of any regular circulating coin in the world (£8.50 in today's money). The pre 1997 50ps were big and chunky to reflect its former high buying power. Today 50 pence peices are highly collectable, with proofs, special silver strikes and plenty of lower mintage design's. The Royal Mint have been issuing some amazing 50ps in the last few years. If you want to learn about British coins, including silver ones, get in touch.
Hey Matthew! Thank you so much for the great details! I will definitely reach out with my British coin questions!

Yep let’s go silver
@@hpbwendy Fuck off with that trump shit
It’s always nice when you show how much it’s worth. Great video
Are 1977 quarters with no mint mark worth something
Acid Nitemerz 25 cents
No buddy. But check for errors.
The 2011 Commemorative 50p you have there is Archery, the most common Olympic coin, 3,345,500 made, value about £1.
The commemorative 50p you have is an Archery 50p from the Olympic games in 2012 (minted in 2011), only worth about 2x FV at the moment and the most common of the set (bound to rise though!). 50p collecting is pretty big over here right now, I recently started recording my coin hunts and posting them on my channel.
Loving the Egyptian silver and Stalin on the Czech coin, not seen those before and the star of the show is a stunner of course, wow.
Great vid.
WOW amazing tiny collection.
Agreed!
i started collecting coins in 2019 after finding some in my change, would love a american coin, the 50p sheild you have is uk and if its 2009,2010 or 2011,its worth hanging onto as its worth more than fv as them years was not meant to be in circulation,so if its them years they come from the rear sets.

Russian 1924, I would cherish. I’ve got old collection. My daughter been collecting the new 50p and the £2, she’s got most. Missing the Kew Gardens 50p which goes for insane amount. 👍
£180-£240 :)
The Soviet coin with the Olympic theme was cool but the classic peace dollar way favorite. The ASE is always a welcome addition..kinda like green bean casserole at a family dinner.
The coin that I'd like to have is the Silver Eagle. The coins that I would be interested in are the Cuban coins.
My favorite coin was the silver coin with the brick wall!
That's an Israeli Victory coin, I have several in my collection 😁
That’s the kotel (western wall) I’m actaully Jewish 🤗
It’s awesome seeing people like my nations coins
Art is art..doesn't matter your origin is religion. These coins are classy and have lasting value.
I just got into coin collecting I am 12 so I am hopeing over the years I will have a lot like that that is valuable
Keep it up and you will!
The Soviet 50 kopeek one is made with 9 grams 999 silver and 1 gram clad total weight on that coin is 10 grams, I think and I agree with u it is a beauty!
I think the half rouble was 900 silver, but still it’s very valuable. I have one too got it for 8 euros
The way I have educated some people to the world of coin collecting was through an informative speech in my speech class lol. I now have some people who occasionally ask me questions about coins. It's something at the very least. :>
Just read an article in Coin World of a Proof 1952 Washington Quarter that has an “S” on the chest of the eagle. This variety is being called a “Superbird” quarter. One graded Proof 67 Deep Cameo sold for a whopping $7,800 at Heritage Auctions in September. No one really knows how the “S" got there but at least it creates a new interest in our little world of coin collecting.
Wow that's wild! Would love to see one of those
the stalin commemorative is czechoslovakian, because it is in the warsaw pact
Cool info on state quarters
Still want to know what was in the bottom section of the box. 🤔🙄😁
It was just junk and the footage was boring, so I edited it out
7:22 at the bottom that 50p looks like a Paralympic archery , they were made for the 2012 London olympics ( the coins were made in 2011 ) and all the Olympic 50ps are rare but that one is the least rare but still a good coin :) there was also some pre decimal English coins there and they were British currency before decimal day (1971)
I hope that helped :) I’m from England and I collect coins like that I make some videos on them !
Great video. I love your enthusiasm and knowledge of the hobby.

Great video
Awesome little collection 😀
Thanks! I agree!
I don’t know which video I was watching but it was all about pennies. The one that’s sticking out to me is the 1926 Lincoln DB Wheat. My father was shot in the leg in
the Korean War and where the bullet hit was the main leg artery
Fortunately for my father he missed a single penny that was still in his pocket from a night of cards.
And the year is 1926. You can see how the penny absorbed most of the bullets velocity and hit between the neck area and under the date. I believe that I still see the lead from the shot married to the bullet.
All that my father received from this was a big sore bruised thigh.
He placed the penny in a small tan envelope and forgot about it.
Thanks to you I remembered it and I wouldn’t doubt it if I find another one in my huge coin stash.
Hi
Btw i have a rly old korean coin
I got a beat up box like that full of coins. It was my grandfather's. I find it overwhelming to go through each coin and find its value. Is there a way i can contact you and send you pictures of the coins?
Absolutely! Feel free to email me at thesilverpicker@gmail.com
I have a coin collection I want evaluated. Many old coins from u.s.a and around the world. Any suggestions on where I can go in Chicago?
Unfortunately not, but I'd be happy to help you out if you send me pics. thesilverpicker@gmail.com
Very cool video! I want more Israeli coins. Really need to get some Egyptian though as I don’t have any. Thanks for the info!

I saw three Jordanian coins one of them. Was a 10 in the other two were fives. It was in like that Middle East shackle collection. Collection
I love your videos
After watching your video I checked my change bag which is a actual treasury coin bag. I always throw my change in it daily. I only removed a couple hands full and was surprised that I was had quarters and nickel back before 1964. Not to mention the pennies. The pennies I weigh and save the ones over 3 grams. My next step will be dates as I’m seeing Lincoln cents going for $1 and up. Thanks for the boost to go over my coins.
That's awesome!!
hey, what can I use points for?
That Egyptian coin was the first to catch my eye.

That marble could be worth a good chunk of money depending on the age. You might want to try and find a little out about it might be worth it. It looks like there's a few colors inside, if the marble is hand made you will see that it's not a perfect sphere. There will be a part of the marble that isn't smooth or will have I imperfect look. Thats where the marble was held, then cut and torched so it will be smooth. It has an old look to it and nice swirls inside, if thats a jumbo (it will be bigger than a regular biggie) those are hard to find in old marbles. It looks like the size of a biggie, my favorites are half pints (between a biggie and a regular size marble) and pewee's (smaller than a regular size marble) those have always been my favorites. Some marbles can be worth hundreds and up, that one caught my eye cause it looks like a old marble. If it's an Cleary ice cream swirly those were hard to come across. If the clear part of the marble has a red tint thats a good thing. I know there's red inside it looks like there's some Green to. I don't know much about marbles I do know that older ones can go for hundreds and more. Depending on the type, size, and colors it looks like a pretty cool marble though. Some of the slang that I used might not be the right term thats how I used to identify them. People will use different names sometimes depending on what they know. I'm a nativist when it comes to marbles but I do know a little blessings to you I your future hunts thanks for the video.

I liked the Israeli coins. I have a few 😜 Canadian coins. Worked at a travel plaza off the interstate in Maryland and got them there. That includes a 1895 and 1905 Canadian quarter. Also some WW2 era British coins. Souvenirs from around the world without the hassle of the travel. ✈😜👍
My friend came to me on a wild shield nickel, had date area revealed to be 1867!
That's so awesome! Nice!
Hi. Is buying rolled coins from the bank a good way to find silver quarters and half dollars. Or to find rare coins?
It's a cheap way, but it's not easy. If you enjoyed the process of coin roll hunting you should do it. If you hate it, it's not worth it

What you pointed out about the Cuban coin is on most of US coins as well. The Cuban Peso was pegged to the US Dollar when Cuba was established, because the US thought it in its interest to have a large influence over Cuba, part of which included the currency.
That's a totally good point. I guess I never considered that lol

Hello. Would a 1995 1$ bill worth more than the face value today ?
I would add some corrections: a) Early years of State Quarters in MS 63 condition which you might find in pocket change or rolls (albeit infrequently unless you go through a big box) actually show a value above face. So I would not say worthless but rather these Quarters only begin to have value over face if MS63 and higher which you may get once in a blue moon but the majority are well circulated. Sac dollars are worth face value unless a great Proof or MS86 and higher if you speak only of the 2000 and 2001. After 2001 the mintages drop tremendously to about 7 million p[er year for P and D combined. The 2008 is extremely low for a golden dollar 3.6 million P and D combined. Yes that would be considered by most as a modest mintage but it is equivalent to some years of Kennedy half dollars after they were pulled out of circulation and produced solely for numismatic products. For your friend you did right of course not to into this detail UNLESS he showed some interest and a potential collector. Just sharing for your viewers.
Other correction --- 1981 Susan B's have a little value above face as they were only produced for collectors - about 3.9 million.

It's funny how your friend has such a diverse collection, yet is really not super duper into coins lol. I've been collecting for a couple years now and don't have anywhere near the diversity this dude does lol. Volume? Yes I have him beat. Silver content? Absolutely have him beat. Collectible Coins from ~5 countries that include silver and historical commemoratives? Hello no!
Based on that alone his collection far surpasses mine. I believe monetary value is only part if it. Being able to collect so many unique pieces is truly incredible. Bravo
Yeah, he did pretty good for an amateur. He actually was pretty smart bc he bought some of those unique coins from a dealer at a small flea market near his house like 10 years ago
I was a paper boy way back when and my mother had the insight to save all the silver coins from my collecting time. I’ve added to it but I foolishly used four rolls of quarters for gas when I was a idiot teenager. I have a dollar bill that has numerous folds on the face when printed but the back doesn’t. You can push the folds together and the face is complete.
I was a Paperboy also in the 70's! I wonder how much silver coins I had and never realized. I remember having bags of change every two weeks from collecting. OH, the thoughts of what I may have missed!
Rick Sobek just imagine what you might have ! I have silver certificates in $1-$5 denominations. The dimes and nickels are still in their same wrappers as are the quarters. I also saved or should I say my awesome mother saved every 50¢ piece I collected too.
Who knows what crazy money coins I could have $$$$$ I should have somebody take a look at everything.
Hi Siverpicker, an amazing video as always. That Olympic 50p is the Archery from 2011 and it has a mintage of 3.3 million, it is one if the highest minted of that collection. The Olympic that all UK coin collectors are looking for is the Football (Soccer) which has a mintage of just 1.1 million. I love the US coins that are in this collection and would love to get my hands on the peace dollar for my collection. If you need any help with UK coins in the future feel free to send me over a message. Thanks again for the great videos.
Thanks for the info! Super interesting. I'd definitely collect them if I lived in the UK
