I feel like the "depressed annoyance" face fits Astrotrain. He has big dreams (like taking over the Deceptions that one time), but he's been relegated in most media to nothing more than a troop transport.
I guess because of his train mode being a licensed train (I think), they couldn't try too much to make it accurate, instead going for a more "cybertronian/made up" train

In the instructions, his caboose thing turns into a rolling platform to lay the shuttle down flat, and it doesn't fit well, thats why the wheels are on the top.
This guy is more worthy of leader for me than shockwave. The tender that transforms into a launchpad for the rocket legitimately makes so much sense for the character’s alt modes. More than a bunch of nonsensical armor bits that shockwave has. The guns are just a bonus since I’ve always felt like the triple changers, especially astrotrain, were the heavy hitters. Weird that he doesn’t come with his Toy accurate gun at this scale tho.

Well, considering that the combined form of Siege Astrotrain's weapons is a sorta facsimile of the toy's BFG, the only thing that it lacks is all that purple (something that even Titans Return/LG40 Astrotrain got right with those fugly Sentinel Prime guns). Maybe the Siege Astrotrain weapons were gang molded with other black plastic components? (Ex.: Ultra Magnus's leg guns, etc.)
Am I the only one who wouldn’t mind commander class astrotrain? So that way he could be to scale to look like the decepticons could fit in him. Granted, this is a very bad idea.
I do kind of get that, but there are so many other characters I want to see first, and if you wanted something to scale to your other figures he'd probably need to be a Titan.

@@PerspectiveEnd It's amazing in its modes, but the transformations are scary. I've watched a couple reviews on it, and one said that the construction wasn't going to break so easily, but it still makes me nervous. Like, the first time I tried transforming it using the directions, my fingers were sweating and it took several hours. There's a section that doesn't want to connect properly, the arms/cab roof and the thruster top/tail fin. Emgo filed down the tabs on his to make it connect better, one other guy brute forced it and somehow it tabbed into the ports, but I'm not there yet. The chest panels are a little scary during transformation, and on mine one of the side rods doesn't want to connect at all. Don't get me wrong, I love this figure cause it's everything I wanted in Astrotrain, but I think it was built too tough. Definitely not a kid's toy.
You like Psychonauts, a man of taste I see. But imagine if we got a leader Astrotrain that was the scale of the old leaders, how badass would that have been. The figure is perfect as is, but I wanted them to do more.
Of course, you watch me after all, I'd think that would have become clear before now. That could have been pretty cool, but at the same time I am one of those nutters who likes Astrotrain to Masshift.
I have this figure and my only complaints are the lack of head possibility, the feet pivets don't work for me. And I'm not sure if this was cause I played with it to hard but the lower legs are extremely lose. Luckly they get stuck on the upper legs and the lack of backwards leg movement makes it able to stand just find for me.
The cab only pokes up over a steam locomotive’s boiler to the extent that the driver can look through the front windows to see everything in front of them only on specific locomotive designs like the 4-4-0 American standard and tank engines like the LB&SCR E2 (the basis for Thomas the Tank Engine) are like that. Other designs like Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 and the Mallard have the roof of the cab be the same level as the top of the boiler. Even the D51, Astrotrain’s G1 basis for his train mode, is more similar to Flying Scotsman in design in terms of the cab over the type seen on Thomas the Tank Engine.
You just threw a bunch of words at me that I don't understand. All I know is that every other representation of him has the cab higher than the boiler.
Having the cab be the same level as the boiler provides less wind resistance. That is part of designing streamlined locomotives like the Mallard. Besides, if Astrotrain would want to build speed in train mode before transforming into shuttle mode like in the show, would it be more beneficial for his cab to be like it is on the Siege toy over what it was in the G1 cartoon for less wind resistance to quickly build up speed before transforming into shuttle mode.
I hope that Hasbro tries to find a way to re release this thing because now that I have Blitzwing I would love to display the two together. Unfortunately I wasn’t fully into collecting when this thing was released, so that sucks.
I gotta be honest, I think the train mode is much better than the shuttle mode. The shuttle has such a large front end, immediately followed by a hideous gappy mess. The train might not be accurate, but I honestly think it looks great, especially with the tender. I just love how long it is. The only thing that disappoints me is the small front. If the gaps were filled in on shuttle mode, I think it’d be superior
The Small front is a really big deal to me. Like why does it even have wheels? How are those supposed to make contact with the Track? The Gaps in the Shuttle mode really don't bother me.
My major complaint is that I would of liked the extra train part transform into a thing that at least fills up the bad top end of the shuttle as a option because that thing just looks messy looking
Great Review as always! Mr.Persepctive can you give me an advice? I've always really wanted to do reviews on UA-cam and I've decided if I'm gonna start i wanna start professionally so I found a Turn table, I created a logo but the only thing missing is a light box...the only problem here is the lack of light or just bad lighting so I want to get a light box Can you tell me how big is your light box and where did you get it? Thank you very much in advance!
This is the particular lightbox I use, it's 14 by 16 which isn't big enough for some of the larger figures, which is why I have the bigger one. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07922MDPG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also recommend you get a ring light, you can find those for about 10 bucks. So I take it you want to make reviews. My advice is to script. Always script. Even though it's boring. Nothing makes people click off a video faster than the person in it sounding like they don't know what to say next. Aside for Audio Quality... Audio Quality is the thing that will make people bail the fastest if it's painful to listen to. Anyways point is that scripting will keep you on task and keep you from sounding like your confused as to what to say next. Hope the channel goes well.
I think HasTak trying to make the triple changer to be leader class, that's why they added bunch of guna and a box to astro, so it will worth more than Voyagers. I used to complain that this figure is too small for leader, but then i realized this figure is really fun, the accesories cool, and the quality is great. But i always wish his shuttle has better back thou.
The back of the shuttle doesn't bother me, really my problem with the accessories is that they belong equally well with literally any other figure. I don't want stuff that goes with figures other than the one I'm getting personally. Especially when I'm getting charged more for it.
According to Amazon, I got this guy in October last year, but it feels like I've had this guy longer than that. Anyway, at Voyager price point, this thing amazing. Though, I made a bug dumb, and didn't realize the front of the train mode (the skinny bit) could slide down, until I rewatched The Lazy Eyebrow's review on it.
Yeah, initially I didn't realize that my self, I was super excited when i figured it out because I thought that would make the wheels contact the ground... NOPE!!!
Warning: The tabs on the shuttle/train front end preventing the piece from spinning 360 degrees can break, but it's only a minor problem. Though there will be a bit of white showing on the shuttle mode if you don't cover it up with something.
Can you explain the difference between Siege and earthrise versions of this toy? Which would you buy? I want to pick one up but dont kmow what version to buy. I really wish there were more train transformers. I love Railracer from R.I.D. and there is noway I am dropping like 800 bucks on Raiden.
I would never, ever transform this figure into its alt modes. The train is a wreck - ha... ha? - and the back half of the shuttle is ghastly. That back half is like the result of trying to sculpt the back end of a plane and taking too much wood from the block. Not a buy for me since it would defeat the purpose of having a transforming figure, but I'm happy you like it.
Instead of the train tendon (definitely spelt it wrong) transformering Into a launch platform, I would have rather it transform into something that covered the back part of the shuttle
Do you think this version would be good enough to release in the 86 line? All that’s needed is some changes to the colors and where the paint is. The Shuttle jet will obviously not fit multiple figures inside it unfortunately
I'd want the train mode to have a pretty big alteration to it to make it more accurate, so I don't think a flat rerelease or reshell would do the trick.
Shuttle mode would need panels to cover the gap in the back that's currently covered with an upgrade part. The train mode would need a wider front to match the width of the rest of the train. Other than that, sure. He would still need to include the shuttle platform and guns, of course.
After 3 years I finally found siege astrotrain and I gotta say it's pretty good Robot mode is a 9.5/10 Shuttle is 8/10 And Locomotive mode is a solid: 10/10 I just like how it's just a brick with wheels that roll really well
i think the purpose of the weapons is that since he is the transport, realistically he should have the extra weapons (he can also use it in times of emergency) or since siege astrotrain looks depressed since he cant join battles.. he finally now brings hes own incase he wants to go rouge/just want to go to fight too (either with one weapon&remaining are backupweapons for the team or use them all lol).
What are your thoughts on EctoTron and Gigawatt? Also will Hasbro make a retool of Armada Hotshot because I really want to get my hands on a real Hotshot figure and the only one I own is Bayformers recolor Crosshairs that was supposed to be Tracks with a very bad paint on the face.
I'm not really interested in the Cross over figures for the most part, I don't know what it is but they don't really mean anything to me. I don't know if they will do an armada version, they did the Cybertron one, and they've used the design as a Camanian before so maybe, but I'm not sure at this point.
Well speaking of deception triple changers, now that we have an in hand reveiw of legacy blitzwing from prime vs prime if I remember right, what do you think about it? If you've seen it of course. I'm definitely picking it up
I lucked out so much with siege astrotrain, my Walmart got a massive drop display of the last wave of siege but it was all on massive clearance, leaders $9, voyagers $7 and deluxes were $5. All while Earthrise was on the shelf at full price.
There is a Gap-Filler part for the arms, but no extended thrusters. but there is a really pointless Fin/Missile Launcher thing that covers the top of the Rocket Ship mode. woooo....
A lot of people are telling me the back end as is really bothers them. I'm fine with it, but I guess there's a reason it exists... Oh Come on there has got to be thurster Extenders, how is it possible that there aren't?
One of better done figures in siege in deed. But I can agree that all those extra weapons where kind of pointless. Heck, if they wanted the number of accesories to fit the price point, why didn't they just gived him a bunch of blast effects? And as for the question of the video.. I know you don't a flying rust of a scrap about japanize transformers. But if I can ask... What are your thought's regarding Trainbots. Aka Raiden aka Autobot train combiner?
I would have preferred a bunch of blast effects yes. I think Raiden is SUPER lame. No particular reason other than the name is doofy, and the trains just don't click with me.
@@PerspectiveEnd aha.. As much as I understand "personal preference". I kinda don't understand how Raiden sound's "doofy". Or at least, not less doffy than "Defensor" or "Menasor"...
The problem with Raiden is that it's not a word. Unlike TF characters from other countries, they never translated his name, so all I can think of when I hear Raiden is the Mortal Kombat Character. As far as I understand it, it's just a normal name, it'd be like an autobot named Steve. Or a Decepticon named Skygarry. Or if blaster was colored blue and called Billy... Those second two are bad examples.
My biggest issue with this is that despite being sold at 50$ It doesn't scale with tr blitzwing. I prefer the triple changers to be half a head taller than megatron and the rest of the Gang. I can already see how the upcoming blitzwing will suffer from the same problem
The way I kinda think about the front being skinny is maybe he runs on a specific double rail system that’s only on cybertron where there is one rail inside another and the smaller front is more for the driver to see past it rather than having to be up higher I know it’s a stupid thought but that’s how I justify it and I have this guy (even though I lost the majority of his weapons and looking for the toy accurate gun) but he’s good nonetheless
I feel like the "depressed annoyance" face fits Astrotrain. He has big dreams (like taking over the Deceptions that one time), but he's been relegated in most media to nothing more than a troop transport.

You know, it's funny... I like the train mode the most lmao
I may not understand why, but that's ok. Like what you like.
The tender should have partsform into the backpart of the shuttle to fill in.
The back end of the shuttle doesn't bother me, but I do think that would have been better cause it would have given the tender something to do.
The head is weirdly restricted when there's nothing really causing it to be immobile.
Sorry to hear yours isn't operating at 100%.
Thanks for the birthday present
Happy to accidentally give it to you.
This was literally my first leader class figure and i got him on sale for $30 and he made me want to buy more figures
Nice! That's a Sweet Deal right there. You got him for that voyager price.
He's heavier than his Titans Return toy so that's cool.
My biggest beef with his steam engine mode is that it's wider than it is tall
That's a reason as valid as any.
@@PerspectiveEnd I've been to museums to see steam locomotives and they're like 10 feet wide 14 feet tall.
T r a i n
Indeed.
@@PerspectiveEnd p l a n e
Yeah, I get that, like I wound up missing out on Missfire because of not being fully back at the time.
5:17 It looks like Bayverse Jetfire!
It does kind of look like an SR71 Blackbird.
Speaking of him, I hope we get an update of Blitzwing.
There is going to be one. The Legacy line is supposed to have one.
My major complaint is that I would of liked the extra train part transform into a thing that at least fills up the bad top end of the shuttle as a option because that thing just looks messy looking
I agree. This guy seems to analyse these figures for the smallest inaccuracies yet completely looked over the shit end of the shuttle
It doesn't bother me, but I do think that would have give the tender something to do.
ngl, totally forgot about astrotrain’s existence; glad he’s a good figure tho
Man, now I know why he has that Depressed and Annoyed expression.
Great review mate!
Thank you very much.
Great Review as always!
Mr.Persepctive can you give me an advice? I've always really wanted to do reviews on UA-cam and I've decided if I'm gonna start i wanna start professionally so I found a Turn table, I created a logo but the only thing missing is a light box...the only problem here is the lack of light or just bad lighting so I want to get a light box
Can you tell me how big is your light box and where did you get it? Thank you very much in advance!
This is the particular lightbox I use, it's 14 by 16 which isn't big enough for some of the larger figures, which is why I have the bigger one.
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07922MDPG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also recommend you get a ring light, you can find those for about 10 bucks.
Hey georgethebot just subscribed to you to help you on your journey through UA-cam so hope it goes well
@@harveytodd4309 Aww thank you!
And we now know next year we will see it retooled into galaxy shuttle from victory, and i definitly will buy that
I suppose we do yes.
Especially when I'm getting charged more for it.
they use the g1 toys first so that u can only have that option
then they make the cartoon version so now you buy two of each figure
What option?
PerspectiveEnd the option of only having the toy version or inaccurate version of a mold
They make the better one later so that you'll buy both
Far far and awaaaaay
Great video!🥶🤑😎👍
Say what?
Thank you.
NOPE!!!
@@PerspectiveEnd actually, if you pull them down enough they will touch it
Warning: The tabs on the shuttle/train front end preventing the piece from spinning 360 degrees can break, but it's only a minor problem. Though there will be a bit of white showing on the shuttle mode if you don't cover it up with something.
Thanks for the tip.
Can you explain the difference between Siege and earthrise versions of this toy? Which would you buy? I want to pick one up but dont kmow what version to buy. I really wish there were more train transformers. I love Railracer from R.I.D. and there is noway I am dropping like 800 bucks on Raiden.
The Boxes. That's really it. The boxes are Different. Otherwise these are unchanged.
@@serina3872 That would have definitely been an improvement. (I think it's tender)
I agree about the Train Wreck, but the back of the Shuttle doesn't even begin to bother me.
@@PerspectiveEnd Yeah, agree to disagree, but for sure agree on the bot mode. 👍🏼
After 3 years I finally found siege astrotrain and I gotta say it's pretty good
Robot mode is a 9.5/10
Shuttle is 8/10
And Locomotive mode is a solid: 10/10 I just like how it's just a brick with wheels that roll really well
It is pretty good, though I will say you are crazy, or... Loco. That Locomotive mode is terrible.
i think the purpose of the weapons is that since he is the transport, realistically he should have the extra weapons (he can also use it in times of emergency) or since siege astrotrain looks depressed since he cant join battles.. he finally now brings hes own incase he wants to go rouge/just want to go to fight too (either with one weapon&remaining are backupweapons for the team or use them all lol).
They just feel so Generic is my problem. Like something that could have gone with any figure.
@@PerspectiveEnd yeah i agree.. for a collector for sure it can a problem.
Why are auto generated subtitles in Dutch? 🤦♂️😔
I don't know but that's hilarious to me. I hope they are completely busted.
this is one of my favorite figures I love it so much! 😃
It is great.
I'm definitely picking it up
I'll make a video on the reveals in the next few weeks.
I am considering adding this to my collection come payday.
It's worth it if you can find it for a reasonable price.
You can throw any smaller figures into his weird little box and have it close shut just fine.
So it's like he's a Transport like in the show.
@@PerspectiveEnd Ehh I was thinking more like he’s kidnapping someone.
The expression is known to transformers fans as "dull suprize"
A little offtop but, whose your favourite Psychonauts character? 👀
I obviously like Raz. But Lilli is great too. I like how Defiant she is.
the expression seems to be a unamused? or just blank stare.
It doesn't read as blank to me. More like a mix of emotions.
Can't wait for legacy blitzwing!
I hope it's good. It'll have to be to bet the TR.
Yep. I found him on sale. I was pleased. I didn't notice the small train tip. Bummer. I keep him in the robot mode anyway.
Man it seems like everyone on Earth got Astrotrain on sale except for me.
I have to say of all the leader add on components, astrotrains carriage has to be the one I care for the least
Yeah, it's pretty much a bunch of Generic accessories that could go with literally anyone.
I lucked out so much with siege astrotrain, my Walmart got a massive drop display of the last wave of siege but it was all on massive clearance, leaders $9, voyagers $7 and deluxes were $5. All while Earthrise was on the shelf at full price.
I have NEVER EVER in my life seen clearances that good. That's AWESOME!
@@PerspectiveEnd micromasters on the shelf were $3 and battlemasters were $1. I bought all battlemasters for the blast effects lol
Ooh, I think I found my deception for my diorama :D
Hi perspective, will you do a siege starscream Review? I want to know your opinion on that mold
Eventually yes.
7:57 ………………………………………………………..itsbecausehesaspacetrain
You horrible Bastard Man.
Mp-52 Starscream has no way swivel
I've heard this. Amazing how Takara can't be bothered to include such an important joint.
My first siege transformer was this and siege starscream was my brothers
I think you got the better deal on this one. The Seige Scream is great, but this is better.
I would forgive the leader class price point if it just had come with one more rocket pod, it grinds on my OCD by only having one LOL
I do feel that yes.
I want siege Shockwave so badly, he would destroy my cyberverse warrior class. I'd pay Voyager without the accessories.
He is a very solid figure, hope you can find one.
The return of the king (a.)
(a.)?
And thank you.
@@PerspectiveEnd very yes
I got the Earthrise one and the knee joints were super loose I fixed it with some super glue
Nice! Good that it was fixable.
One of my favorite siege figure's
A very fun lad.
My biggest issue with this is that despite being sold at 50$ It doesn't scale with tr blitzwing. I prefer the triple changers to be half a head taller than megatron and the rest of the Gang. I can already see how the upcoming blitzwing will suffer from the same problem
Who knows. I don't think they were supposed to be that much bigger than Megatron, so there's a good chance it won't hapen.
Even if you can convince your self of that, which I can't, it's still not what he's supposed to look like.
Looking Forward to the new Blitzwing!
Hopefully it will be great, it will have to be to beat the TR.
