I actually enjoy studio series scourge, I never had a problem with my copy and I don’t mind that it uses the concept art design. The figure is what got me back into collecting transformers after suffering through SS car shatter and a terrible copy of siege prowl.
Scourges ss design and most of the ss rotb toys were based off early concept art from like 2 years ago which is why he looks like he has a eating disorder. I still want it tho and to get the upgrade kit and repaint it because I really like rotb scourge
well, get the baiwei version, it comes with an upgrade kit already installed and is much better built as well as having some retooling to be more accurate.

While I’m not here to convince you to get Scourge, it should be noted that Perspective did get a copy with some bad QC by the looks of things. There are other reviewers who decently like this figure and theirs’ have good QC. If you want to see those reviews, then I’d personally recommend The Sheep Wielder’s short and T.T.G’s first wave SS ROTB figures video. However if you are interested Scourge’s design and do eventually want to get a transformable Scourge figure and don’t want to have a toss up with the half price copy you found, you could wait for BaiWei’s copy to come out to see how people respond to that copy. The main bulk of the figure still has the same design, though it is still in its prototype phase, but it does have a movie accurate head without having to worry about the ball jointed neck piece on the Hasbro copy.

Sometimes the mold carries the entire figure, even though it looks nothing like the character it's supposed to represent. I hoped Scourge might've been that, but sadly it seems, that's not the case. I think I'll just wait for some third party offering, that's eventually going to hit the market.
@@VectorPrimeStopMotion At the moment the closest you got to that is either BaiWei’s copy or the upgrade kits for Scourge that make him more movie accurate and just a bulkier figure in general. I know I definitely intend to get a specific upgrade kit for my copy of Scourge to help fill him out some more. But who knows. Maybe we’ll eventually see a third party company give us an MP ROTB Scourge with Unique Toys levels of engineering. I would have said Takara as a potential future offer, but they’re clearly being slow at making their MPM figures. Though their Blackout and Bonecrusher have been received pretty well, so they could possibly do a pretty good MPM Scourge somewhere done the line. However an SS scaled third party Scourge might be tricky for some companies due to the more rounded limbs he has in the film. It’d probably be sturdier than the regular mold, but it’d also probably have sacrifices made for the design.
Man its a good thing I preordered dk- 46 and dk-49 to make scourge the best he can be. Also on this list ss 102 would probably go in 9 because the posing is pretty good and so is the transformation but the back of the truck is bad and so is his hot rod shoulders (good thing I preordered dk-44) and also if you review ss Optimus primial I can garunte you will love it its transformation with the arms is the best part cause its really fun.
I kinda want to get the SND Prime. He looks like he poses really well and while not my favorite IDW Prime design he still looks good and it won’t bother me to never transform it. I’ve found it for $60

Hope that the figure quality gets better for the SSG figures because there are characters from the high moon games that deserve brand new figure that due them justice. I cant wait to see a fall of cybertron grimlock when they finally get around to do that because i was never much of a fan of the derpy G1 grimlock design.

Honestly a good chunk of the movie characters are a LOT like their original g1 counterparts they just have really different designs and not enough screentime. What do you think of Legacy Bombshell now that you know the legs work the same as Shrapnel? Why do you hate Durge? Do you just hate overpowered characters? I do just hate OP characters, and he's OP in a really weird way for the Franchise he's from, in that Biology alone made him the equivalent of a Jedi Master. I wouldn't say that. At least some of them have creative Transformations, even if the figures are to bad on the QC to work, And Blackarachnia is at least GORGEOUSLY decoed. That's a Decent Price. It's a bit more expensive than a Modern deluxe, but it is coming with another head which did cost a surprising amount back in the day. I wouldn't be put out for that price, I'd do it if I wanted one.

I was fine with the scourge, mine had good qc. The head on mine never rlly comes off unless you force it. I just dont transform it cause the clear plastic cracked when he fell of my shelf
I understand that everyone can have their opinions, which is why I believe you are very correct with most of these. Bad transformation is what pushes a figure from bad all the way to terrible. That’s the worst part of GE Bumblebee in my mind.
I didn't want to hammer it for that, because much of this list is bad for those reasons, and Bumblebee is honestly the worst ones are so much worse at that, it makes him look good.
I'm not surprised so many rise of the beast figures are on is list, all in all it's a complete cluster fuck I suspect the mainline toys were in my opinion, were an all right toy line some are good, some are bad. BUT THE STUDIO SERIES TOYLINE I ABSOLUTELY HATE. There is absolutely no reason for them to have greenlight these studio series toys so early, you can tell they were **all** undercooked, some are just retools, some have a license which drags down the overall toy because it has to appear to agreements and some of them aren't even based off how they looked in the movie but rather concept art which defeats the entire purpose of studio series, if this was the mainline it be okay (mainline toys are usually always based off concept art) but in the studio series case they don't get that excuse, studio series toys are meant to capture the likeness of the movie characters because they have more time to better match the designs and hopefully can release a better toy than their mainline (a lot of them fail to do even that) when does studio series toys are made alongside the film you get this, again if this was main line we could say "at least you could wait for the studio series one" but here we don't get to do that, we don't get to wait for the more refined design, the studio series ones are already done and unfortunately some are bad and some are fine but are just straight up outclassed by the their predecessors all in all a pretty shit studio series line

Like I said in the comments for TMReviews review of her, guess I'll still be waiting for a MP scale Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia that's actually *GOOD*. 😞😞😞 And no Gamer Edition Megatron or Starscream?? I'm...mildly shocked. The only thing SSGE6 has over the FoC Deluxe class version from just over a decade ago is that this has a game accurate but pretty stupid lookin' blue head. Meanwhile, SSGE4 Megs...has absolutely NOTHING on the WFC Deluxe from back then. Not even size, as it is barely any taller.
It is really unfortunate that they messed this one up so bad, Transarts usually puts out some of the best MP stuff. Starscream is Comming out in 2024 right? And I can't speak to the comparisons for the megatron because I never had the original.
I don't disagree with your choices except for Shrapnel and Scourge. And I'm not sure why you would include the movie mainline toys. They are usually a step down when compared to CHUG and SS since they're budget toys, so the quality and engineering are by default worse even though there are a few exceptions. They fall further in the scale for actual kids toys than adult collecting toys.
I'm pretty sure it's the other way around, I'm pretty sure that it's Studio Series that gets the Higher Budgets, as they have greater parts counts, and more paint, pluss more complicated transformations.

Mainline Rhinox Shelfwarms around me and it just aint right. Did you think Nightbird would be lower? I bought my Scourge online, and I've still never seen one in a store. Bumblebee looks soooo boring. He's still never transformed it. He just gave up.

Great script on this "top" ten! I especially liked the dig at the Last Jedi. I completely agree with you that Studio Series Rhinox is terrible, especially compared to the mainline one. He's my favorite character, and he got one great toy in 2023, so I'll settle for that.

Worst figure of 2023 for me? It’s a tie between Evolution Bludgeon and Evolution Strongarm. Now, don’t get me wrong, both have aspects that I like. Bludgeon has all of Tarn’s good qualities semi-amplified by not being Tarn and Strongarm is an impressive retool that’s about 80% of the way there to being accurate (even if a third of that is her truck mode being perfect). However, both of them suffer because of their source material. Bludgeon still has Hot Rod shoulders, inappropriate use of clear plastic, and is pretty puny by modern Voyager standards; Strongarm suffers from Elita/Minerva’s clashy transformation and clunky shoulders. Both are 6/10s, but they’re very low 6/10s.
I wish Tarn could have been on the best of year list, but he just gets nowhere near it, though I do thing Bludgeon has a better look with his Pumpkin Colors.
Funny how the only figure on this entire list I actually bought from last year was SS Scourge. While a lot of valid point were made that make the figure far from great I personally didn't suffer any of the Q/C issues as he holds up, and poses just fine. I also find the quality feels a lot better in hand than a lot of earlier SS figures. Also great finally getting a main movie baddie larger than Voyager scale for once with the exception of maybe the Fallen, and I guess the hollowed out DOTM Megatron which in reality would need to be a Commander to be any good. While I did have some disappointments from last year Miner Megatron easily makes number 1 as having the worst Q/C/engineering of any Transformer I bought in 2023.

Kingdom Rhinox is cheaper, and it somehow has a less terrible transformation. On the other hand it's uglier, and poses a lot worse. But I just gotta go with the less waste of money.

speaking of the rotb scourge mad eme remember baiwei and how alot of their figures are pretty good for the price they sell it at and it made me wonder if you ever tried giving a chance at their DOTM upgraded shockwave. he comes with a really good purple and battle damage paint job. if you can get past the low quality plastic they use its imo, a really good movie shockwave, miles better than the BBM one as well. or planning on reviewing any of baiwei's figures, since they're technically 3rd party on top of being chug scale.
Man, it would have been great if we got full reviews of these dumpster fires. I think Transarts can be a hit or miss sometimes with their releases. But also, they've been pumping out figures like crazy after TM Megatron was released. With TM2 Black Arachnia, I think the transformation is so bad is mainly due to the character design. The designer was so busy trying to make a sexy woman and forgot she needed to transform.
After this that's actually more likely, because I realize now that I've actually been too focused on the good stuff, or the Mildly disappointing stuff. I'm so much happier and more creative, when I'm furious. To be fair yes. She is a design that's just about impossible to make work without MASSIVE cheats.
I liked how Pablo jumped into your hands thanks to editing, cute touch. Barricade was my number 1 as far as not buying. I bought Gamer Edition Prime and Megatron. Love Prime, and Megatron was so disappointing i returned him. Every review of Barricade I watched was negative, and it poisoned the well rather completely. However I'm not FOMOing over it, as it looks like i dodged a bullet. As far as things I got in my hand I suppose I have to say Gamer Megatron. Only figure I returned. Tiny head, he holds his mace stupidly, which would be forgivable if they didn’t JUST make Prime with a segmented axe for decent display, the knees and their infamous rear pegs that do NOTHING for transformation and exist simpyl to impede articulation. The arm cannon is flimsy, feels cheap, and is super tiny. Finally, it's a Voyager, and somehow is less accurate in alt mode, and even missing the neat little feature of a 10 year old deluxe with the tank treads you could flip up for hover mode of deploy for running fools down. I'd say his existance only contributed to not only skipping Barricade but not even attempting to give Bumblebee or Cliffjumper any chances, again bullets dodged.
I did so many things in this video wrong on purpose it's great. Yeah, I love how in this very positive Community, NO ONE has patience for Barricade. I actually don't hate the Gamer Megatron, I thought I would, but I'm OK with it.
I kinda like Scourge’s head and neck because it looks like he’s wearing chainmail like some kind of warlord. But if you took the chainmail away he’d definitely look goofy with that giraffe neck
Here are my thoughts on the figures I care about somewhat (sorry if this is just about my longest comment as most of them I cared about somewhat): Transarts Cheetor: the second I saw it, I knew that the colours were off. I think the SS Cheetor has more accurate TMII Cheetor colours than this ugly thing. Mainline Mirage: I can't believe that this is unironically the better of the 2 deluxes, because even with the inaccurate head, he still looks more like the character than the SS, and has a more fun transformation. SS Cheetor: as a fan of the film designs, I personally found him as a great figure, but I can see why people wouldn't like the design... because the mainline at least looks like the character from the show compared to this. Mainline Pablo: I hate how we'll never see the Bumblebee design again, but this at least has more accurate legs than the SS version for some reason. SS Rhinox: I think if the mainline version was repainted, had the two horns and a bulkier torso, it would be both just as accurate as this and better at everything else than this. Gamer edition Bumblebee: dear god, why is this as high as it is? This was the figure which made me lose a bit of faith in the designers, as they decided that every non-86 figure besides a one-shot like Mohawk, and the Bumblebee character in studio series needs to be phoned in somehow. Even if they're damn near perfect, they might as well remove one standard joint just to screw with us. Mainline Nightbird: the SS figure at least feels a bit better, but why is this the one that got retooled when it was the least close to the film out of the three wave 2 deluxes? SS Scourge: YES! as someone who has a better QC head and smokestacks, ironically, one of my biggest issues with the figure IS QC. The backpack is about as breakable as the spider legs of the Blackarachnia later on this list. I hate whenever someone talks about his figure positively, so thanks for giving Scourge all the shit he deserves. Mainline Bumblebee: again, a horrid figure. WHY WERE THE DELUXE CARS TRASH WHEN THE DELUXE MAXIMALS AND VOYAGERS WERE FANTASTIC! Transarts Blackarachnia: the worst Beast Wars design has a horrid figure. Shocking. I'll wait until Hasbro does these designs, just like even the good designs from this company. Gamer edition Barricade: the DOTM Core Shit-lebee poses better than this. That is horrifically hilarious. One of the worst cores in their entire lifespan poses better than this.

Scourge definitely feels like a overrated figure, and that is someone who likes the design from the movie. And yeah, if you hate the mainline ROTB Bumblebee, do not get SS 49, like, never. Mainly because the transformation sucks, oh and it breaks Edit: also this a great video.
TransArt is such a Monkey’s Paw company. They give us these great LOOKING figures but they keep making these brittle shitty limbs and shitty fiddly transformations. I honestly wouldn’t put another dollar into them if there was a better company making Transmetals right now. I was even mad that their TM Megatron looked so good but they inexplicably didn’t paint like half the details of the head and face and left out the chrome parts on his shoulders and legs. Then there was the breakage on the wheels and the paint chipping from the feet digging into the ankles. I like their Tarantulas but he’s ALSO only held together by friction on like 1 or 2 tabs.
Personally I found my self pretty happy with their Transmetal Megatron, but you couldn't pay me to take their Optimal Optimus. That thing is easily the ugliest thing they've ever made.
Scourge sounds like you got some monsterously bad QC cause I didn't have a single one of those issues. The sword however can be removed from the arm, and doing so means it just becomes another accessory which he can still hold in his hand but also has vehicle mode storage as it can still tab onto the leg. Otherwise it's only few flaws, which are admittedly glaring and I can understand them being massive turnoffs for people, is the lack of wrist rotations and the fact it's based on the concept art rather than the final design. But frankly the concept design is miles better anyways, carrying more demonic personality and having WAY more vehicle parts. So certainly a flaw for Studio Series, but even accuracy sticklers need to admit it's better than another overly smooth featureless darkly coloured villain. Also seriously, why didn't he have the burning chest the whole movie? It looked so much better.
I learned that there is a point you can remove that after the video came out. There are like 3 pinned joints there, and those were the ones I looked at first, so I didn't look at the last one that wasn't. I mean I don't know what they were going for with Either version of his design. I don't find any form he took evocative of anything.
Honestly i really like Gamer Edition Bumblebee but i mostly agree with the list. I remenber a few years ago i bought Kingdom Rhinox even after you said it was shit and ended up regretting it so this year i decided to get the Mainline one over the SS and i gotta say, it is just great, feels amazing and the transformation is actually fun so im glad i listened to your recommendation this time. Also, i was tempted to get that 3rd party Optimus but i am really glad i forgot about it, i had no idea it was that shit
I'm not suprised that at least a good chunk of figures on here are ROTB related to be honest. Out of all of the movie toylines, I'd say that ROTB is one of the weakest across the sublines. Even the 07 movie had a great toyline because of how weird and cool the figures got sometimes. Nowadays it feels too...generalised? Like it's being made to exist and not what it can offer.
What if the reason R.E.D figures are made out of rubber is because Hasbro was trying to copy how NECA makes their tmnt figure and stuff. Except NECA figures are made out of a hard rubber and not the garbage that Hasbro uses.

I got really lucky with my Scourge. He has very good qc with just a slightly loose smokestack. Personally, he's one of my favorite figures of the year but I get why you put him in here.
I got SS Rhinox to turn into a Cybertron Backstop. I started painting the red on it... and gave up because the design manages to look even worse with significant colour.
SS Skurge is my pick for the best of the worst. Skrew that longed knecked catastrophe of a transformer. I was hoping that the Peter Dinklidge Transformer would be better. In this video, yes, because they are broken for the whole length of it on purpose, in general no. That is the way they are supposed to go. I hear that you can swap the legs, but this is the correct transformation if you don't do that.

I was so happy with that idea when I came up with it.
I actually enjoy studio series scourge, I never had a problem with my copy and I don’t mind that it uses the concept art design. The figure is what got me back into collecting transformers after suffering through SS car shatter and a terrible copy of siege prowl.

Scourges ss design and most of the ss rotb toys were based off early concept art from like 2 years ago which is why he looks like he has a eating disorder. I still want it tho and to get the upgrade kit and repaint it because I really like rotb scourge

I've recently found Scourge for half the price and been really debating on buying the thing. Now I know to stay away from that clusterfuck.
While I’m not here to convince you to get Scourge, it should be noted that Perspective did get a copy with some bad QC by the looks of things.
There are other reviewers who decently like this figure and theirs’ have good QC. If you want to see those reviews, then I’d personally recommend The Sheep Wielder’s short and T.T.G’s first wave SS ROTB figures video.
However if you are interested Scourge’s design and do eventually want to get a transformable Scourge figure and don’t want to have a toss up with the half price copy you found, you could wait for BaiWei’s copy to come out to see how people respond to that copy. The main bulk of the figure still has the same design, though it is still in its prototype phase, but it does have a movie accurate head without having to worry about the ball jointed neck piece on the Hasbro copy.

To be honest, I've never wanted to buy it for the character, as it looks nothing like the movie.
Sometimes the mold carries the entire figure, even though it looks nothing like the character it's supposed to represent. I hoped Scourge might've been that, but sadly it seems, that's not the case.
I think I'll just wait for some third party offering, that's eventually going to hit the market.
@@VectorPrimeStopMotion At the moment the closest you got to that is either BaiWei’s copy or the upgrade kits for Scourge that make him more movie accurate and just a bulkier figure in general. I know I definitely intend to get a specific upgrade kit for my copy of Scourge to help fill him out some more.
But who knows. Maybe we’ll eventually see a third party company give us an MP ROTB Scourge with Unique Toys levels of engineering. I would have said Takara as a potential future offer, but they’re clearly being slow at making their MPM figures. Though their Blackout and Bonecrusher have been received pretty well, so they could possibly do a pretty good MPM Scourge somewhere done the line. However an SS scaled third party Scourge might be tricky for some companies due to the more rounded limbs he has in the film. It’d probably be sturdier than the regular mold, but it’d also probably have sacrifices made for the design.

Man its a good thing I preordered dk- 46 and dk-49 to make scourge the best he can be. Also on this list ss 102 would probably go in 9 because the posing is pretty good and so is the transformation but the back of the truck is bad and so is his hot rod shoulders (good thing I preordered dk-44) and also if you review ss Optimus primial I can garunte you will love it its transformation with the arms is the best part cause its really fun.
Maybe, I don't know that I've ever destroyed an Optimus on the Rankings just for how the Tailgate section of the Altmode wound up.

Hope that the figure quality gets better for the SSG figures because there are characters from the high moon games that deserve brand new figure that due them justice. I cant wait to see a fall of cybertron grimlock when they finally get around to do that because i was never much of a fan of the derpy G1 grimlock design.

Honestly a good chunk of the movie characters are a LOT like their original g1 counterparts they just have really different designs and not enough screentime. I say they respect the source material pretty fine they just look super different

That's a Decent Price. It's a bit more expensive than a Modern deluxe, but it is coming with another head which did cost a surprising amount back in the day.

I understand that everyone can have their opinions, which is why I believe you are very correct with most of these. Bad transformation is what pushes a figure from bad all the way to terrible. That’s the worst part of GE Bumblebee in my mind.
I didn't want to hammer it for that, because much of this list is bad for those reasons, and Bumblebee is honestly the worst ones are so much worse at that, it makes him look good.

I'm not surprised so many rise of the beast figures are on is list, all in all it's a complete cluster fuck I suspect the mainline toys were in my opinion, were an all right toy line some are good, some are bad.
BUT THE STUDIO SERIES TOYLINE I ABSOLUTELY HATE. There is absolutely no reason for them to have greenlight these studio series toys so early, you can tell they were **all** undercooked, some are just retools, some have a license which drags down the overall toy because it has to appear to agreements and some of them aren't even based off how they looked in the movie but rather concept art which defeats the entire purpose of studio series, if this was the mainline it be okay (mainline toys are usually always based off concept art) but in the studio series case they don't get that excuse, studio series toys are meant to capture the likeness of the movie characters because they have more time to better match the designs and hopefully can release a better toy than their mainline (a lot of them fail to do even that) when does studio series toys are made alongside the film you get this, again if this was main line we could say "at least you could wait for the studio series one" but here we don't get to do that, we don't get to wait for the more refined design, the studio series ones are already done and unfortunately some are bad and some are fine but are just straight up outclassed by the their predecessors all in all a pretty shit studio series line

The only thing SSGE6 has over the FoC Deluxe class version from just over a decade ago is that this has a game accurate but pretty stupid lookin' blue head. Meanwhile, SSGE4 Megs...has absolutely NOTHING on the WFC Deluxe from back then. Not even size, as it is barely any taller.
It is really unfortunate that they messed this one up so bad, Transarts usually puts out some of the best MP stuff.

I don't disagree with your choices except for Shrapnel and Scourge. And I'm not sure why you would include the movie mainline toys. They are usually a step down when compared to CHUG and SS since they're budget toys, so the quality and engineering are by default worse even though there are a few exceptions. They fall further in the scale for actual kids toys than adult collecting toys.
I'm pretty sure it's the other way around, I'm pretty sure that it's Studio Series that gets the Higher Budgets, as they have greater parts counts, and more paint, pluss more complicated transformations.

Worst figure of 2023 for me? It’s a tie between Evolution Bludgeon and Evolution Strongarm. Now, don’t get me wrong, both have aspects that I like. Bludgeon has all of Tarn’s good qualities semi-amplified by not being Tarn and Strongarm is an impressive retool that’s about 80% of the way there to being accurate (even if a third of that is her truck mode being perfect). However, both of them suffer because of their source material. Bludgeon still has Hot Rod shoulders, inappropriate use of clear plastic, and is pretty puny by modern Voyager standards; Strongarm suffers from Elita/Minerva’s clashy transformation and clunky shoulders.
Both are 6/10s, but they’re very low 6/10s.
I wish Tarn could have been on the best of year list, but he just gets nowhere near it, though I do thing Bludgeon has a better look with his Pumpkin Colors.
Funny how the only figure on this entire list I actually bought from last year was SS Scourge. While a lot of valid point were made that make the figure far from great I personally didn't suffer any of the Q/C issues as he holds up, and poses just fine. I also find the quality feels a lot better in hand than a lot of earlier SS figures. Also great finally getting a main movie baddie larger than Voyager scale for once with the exception of maybe the Fallen, and I guess the hollowed out DOTM Megatron which in reality would need to be a Commander to be any good. While I did have some disappointments from last year Miner Megatron easily makes number 1 as having the worst Q/C/engineering of any Transformer I bought in 2023.

he comes with a really good purple and battle damage paint job. if you can get past the low quality plastic they use its imo, a really good movie shockwave, miles better than the BBM one as well.

I think Transarts can be a hit or miss sometimes with their releases. But also, they've been pumping out figures like crazy after TM Megatron was released. With TM2 Black Arachnia, I think the transformation is so bad is mainly due to the character design. The designer was so busy trying to make a sexy woman and forgot she needed to transform.
After this that's actually more likely, because I realize now that I've actually been too focused on the good stuff, or the Mildly disappointing stuff. I'm so much happier and more creative, when I'm furious.
To be fair yes. She is a design that's just about impossible to make work without MASSIVE cheats.

I liked how Pablo jumped into your hands thanks to editing, cute touch. Barricade was my number 1 as far as not buying. I bought Gamer Edition Prime and Megatron. Love Prime, and Megatron was so disappointing i returned him. Every review of Barricade I watched was negative, and it poisoned the well rather completely. However I'm not FOMOing over it, as it looks like i dodged a bullet. As far as things I got in my hand I suppose I have to say Gamer Megatron. Only figure I returned.
Tiny head, he holds his mace stupidly, which would be forgivable if they didn’t JUST make Prime with a segmented axe for decent display, the knees and their infamous rear pegs that do NOTHING for transformation and exist simpyl to impede articulation. The arm cannon is flimsy, feels cheap, and is super tiny. Finally, it's a Voyager, and somehow is less accurate in alt mode, and even missing the neat little feature of a 10 year old deluxe with the tank treads you could flip up for hover mode of deploy for running fools down. I'd say his existance only contributed to not only skipping Barricade but not even attempting to give Bumblebee or Cliffjumper any chances, again bullets dodged.
I did so many things in this video wrong on purpose it's great.

I actually don't hate the Gamer Megatron, I thought I would, but I'm OK with it.
I kinda like Scourge’s head and neck because it looks like he’s wearing chainmail like some kind of warlord. But if you took the chainmail away he’d definitely look goofy with that giraffe neck
It does look like chain mail yes, but it's also got the energy of Son I am Disappoint.
Here are my thoughts on the figures I care about somewhat (sorry if this is just about my longest comment as most of them I cared about somewhat):
Transarts Cheetor: the second I saw it, I knew that the colours were off. I think the SS Cheetor has more accurate TMII Cheetor colours than this ugly thing.
Mainline Mirage: I can't believe that this is unironically the better of the 2 deluxes, because even with the inaccurate head, he still looks more like the character than the SS, and has a more fun transformation.
SS Cheetor: as a fan of the film designs, I personally found him as a great figure, but I can see why people wouldn't like the design... because the mainline at least looks like the character from the show compared to this.
Mainline Pablo: I hate how we'll never see the Bumblebee design again, but this at least has more accurate legs than the SS version for some reason.
SS Rhinox: I think if the mainline version was repainted, had the two horns and a bulkier torso, it would be both just as accurate as this and better at everything else than this.
Gamer edition Bumblebee: dear god, why is this as high as it is? This was the figure which made me lose a bit of faith in the designers, as they decided that every non-86 figure besides a one-shot like Mohawk, and the Bumblebee character in studio series needs to be phoned in somehow. Even if they're damn near perfect, they might as well remove one standard joint just to screw with us.
Mainline Nightbird: the SS figure at least feels a bit better, but why is this the one that got retooled when it was the least close to the film out of the three wave 2 deluxes?
SS Scourge: YES! as someone who has a better QC head and smokestacks, ironically, one of my biggest issues with the figure IS QC. The backpack is about as breakable as the spider legs of the Blackarachnia later on this list. I hate whenever someone talks about his figure positively, so thanks for giving Scourge all the shit he deserves.
Mainline Bumblebee: again, a horrid figure. WHY WERE THE DELUXE CARS TRASH WHEN THE DELUXE MAXIMALS AND VOYAGERS WERE FANTASTIC!
Transarts Blackarachnia: the worst Beast Wars design has a horrid figure. Shocking. I'll wait until Hasbro does these designs, just like even the good designs from this company.
Gamer edition Barricade: the DOTM Core Shit-lebee poses better than this. That is horrifically hilarious. One of the worst cores in their entire lifespan poses better than this.
SND "Voyager" Optimus is just like Real Grade Zeta Gundam. Overly engineered transforming robots with teeny tiny brittle parts sprinkled around 🗿🗿🗿

And yeah, if you hate the mainline ROTB Bumblebee, do not get SS 49, like, never. Mainly because the transformation sucks, oh and it breaks

TransArt is such a Monkey’s Paw company. They give us these great LOOKING figures but they keep making these brittle shitty limbs and shitty fiddly transformations. I honestly wouldn’t put another dollar into them if there was a better company making Transmetals right now. I was even mad that their TM Megatron looked so good but they inexplicably didn’t paint like half the details of the head and face and left out the chrome parts on his shoulders and legs. Then there was the breakage on the wheels and the paint chipping from the feet digging into the ankles. I like their Tarantulas but he’s ALSO only held together by friction on like 1 or 2 tabs.
Personally I found my self pretty happy with their Transmetal Megatron, but you couldn't pay me to take their Optimal Optimus. That thing is easily the ugliest thing they've ever made.
Scourge sounds like you got some monsterously bad QC cause I didn't have a single one of those issues.
The sword however can be removed from the arm, and doing so means it just becomes another accessory which he can still hold in his hand but also has vehicle mode storage as it can still tab onto the leg.
Otherwise it's only few flaws, which are admittedly glaring and I can understand them being massive turnoffs for people, is the lack of wrist rotations and the fact it's based on the concept art rather than the final design.
But frankly the concept design is miles better anyways, carrying more demonic personality and having WAY more vehicle parts. So certainly a flaw for Studio Series, but even accuracy sticklers need to admit it's better than another overly smooth featureless darkly coloured villain.
Also seriously, why didn't he have the burning chest the whole movie? It looked so much better.
I learned that there is a point you can remove that after the video came out. There are like 3 pinned joints there, and those were the ones I looked at first, so I didn't look at the last one that wasn't.
I mean I don't know what they were going for with Either version of his design. I don't find any form he took evocative of anything.
Honestly i really like Gamer Edition Bumblebee but i mostly agree with the list. I remenber a few years ago i bought Kingdom Rhinox even after you said it was shit and ended up regretting it so this year i decided to get the Mainline one over the SS and i gotta say, it is just great, feels amazing and the transformation is actually fun so im glad i listened to your recommendation this time. Also, i was tempted to get that 3rd party Optimus but i am really glad i forgot about it, i had no idea it was that shit
I'm not suprised that at least a good chunk of figures on here are ROTB related to be honest. Out of all of the movie toylines, I'd say that ROTB is one of the weakest across the sublines. Even the 07 movie had a great toyline because of how weird and cool the figures got sometimes. Nowadays it feels too...generalised? Like it's being made to exist and not what it can offer.
I mean some of the RotB figures have been excellent, and even ended up on the Best of year list.

What if the reason R.E.D figures are made out of rubber is because Hasbro was trying to copy how NECA makes their tmnt figure and stuff. Except NECA figures are made out of a hard rubber and not the garbage that Hasbro uses.

I got really lucky with my Scourge. He has very good qc with just a slightly loose smokestack. Personally, he's one of my favorite figures of the year but I get why you put him in here.

I got SS Rhinox to turn into a Cybertron Backstop. I started painting the red on it... and gave up because the design manages to look even worse with significant colour.

In this video, yes, because they are broken for the whole length of it on purpose, in general no. That is the way they are supposed to go. I hear that you can swap the legs, but this is the correct transformation if you don't do that.
