The greatest band on earth was THE JAMES BROWN BAND. THE BIGINNING OF THE ORIGINAL FUNK AND WHAT ELSE CAME FROM THAT START. Some of those musicians came from the JAMES BROWN BAND. ALL the funk licks and grooves had ALREADY BEEN DONE BY THE JAMES BROWN BAND. This is an off shoot of funk which was created and recorded first and foremost by The JAMES BROWN BAND. Clinton put a psychedelic touch on it, but it was already done. Clinton continued what had already been created done and introduced to the upcoming musicians who had the ear to hear. Bernie IS SLAMMING !!!!!
Hey guys, it's August 29, 2024 and I'm over here grooving to one of my favorite funk groups of all time. These boys are truly the bad boys of FUNK!! For me it is you and James Brown. Y'all have the signature of funk established, and nobody can take it away from you.I' ll always Love you guys❤❤❤
Bernie Worrell, what else can you say...he is singularly the baddest cat ever. When your training and natural gift of perfect pitch line up, thats chosen by God stuff, Bending time and notes, seemingly with little regard to anything else, to poly rhythms in the moment and on the fly, and when the band joins in.....Maaan....hottest band of all time.
A genuinely great person to meet who always encouraged musicians to go to the next level. Miss you very much. No arrogance at all from this musical genius.
This gang is made of gifted, creative, and innovative musicians. They added so much color and transformed funk music into something special and so distinctive.
Ray Davis is truly the greatest Bass singer in the universe next to the late Melvin Franklin..R.I.P. Ray...he also was the first bass singer to replace the late Mel Franklin in The Legendary Temptations Temptations Temptations Temptations
Yea no Glen is the only issue his voice in general but on mothership connection his soul was unmatched but this combo on the keys wizard of woo and one of ohios players finest being the fan of key I am I don't know if it can get better then those two man
Yea RIP Glens voice had soul that was just untouchable man had a gift he's the only one u need in here bootsy would be cool too but skeets just as great
Anyone that does not think Eddie Hazel was an absolute beast just listen to him grove at 12:40 on. He could blend in magnificently and really become a beast at anytime during a set.
No disrespect to Michael Hampton because he is a PFunk legend and has had truly amazing live performances, some of which I've been lucky enough to have seen. But Eddie outshines him throughout this entire concert. Eddie was able to make each song better whether he was on rhythm or lead (standing on the verge from this concert is a perfect example of his ability to do both with ease). Even his extra rhythm on cosmic slop made the song noticeably better than other performances from the same tour. Eddie was in his prime here and it's a shame he wasn't around and on tour more during the late 70s heyday. He was in a zone here in Houston 1979 and is proof that he is one of the best guitarists of all time
@@ChemistryAmsterdam Other legendary musicians have described Bernie as a "genius" and he's considered the Jimi Hendrix of the keyboard by his peers. Bernie has a very rich music vocabulary...so he can improvise forever. Notice how he went complete Count Basie/Duke Ellington, late 30's "Lindy Hop Swing" mode, at 11:59. Bernie was one of the most inspirational musicians to play with. RIP, Woo...we gonna always make sure you "git credit" for your incredible contribution :-)
so true. you'll be listening to a live performance and be like how the hell does this man sound as good, if not better live than on the studio track. truly a legend
Y'all trippin Hard. That first Mutiny album is bad ass. What More Can I Say, Voyage to the Bottom of the P, some serious cuts on there. The 2nd one is good too
@@mcmarcuschapman mutiny made some good jams but nothing ground breaking they sounded like pfunk hand me downs gc was on some other stuff by the time they came out
Much Thrust was a Bernie song on his All The Woo In The World album. Insurance man for the funk was the best song on the album. They should have performed that instead of Much Thrust. The show was still on the one 🤘🤘🤘🤘!
Sounds like "wake up when they wiggle the one"? Hard to tell lol. It's not uncommon for me to have heard a p-funk song a hundred times before I realize what a certain bit of dialogue is lol

With all due love and respect for these guys! But nobody can sing swing down like Glenn!
There can never be too much funk. Just like marijuana, there has NEVER been a casualty from too much pure funk.
Unlike the hilarious dead roach syndrome, as in, when drugs are your woo and you over voo, it could happen to you, ok, boo

Seen this show live. ears didn't unstop till the next day they don't do it like this no more.
I attended the P-Funk Earth Tour in 77. I should've gone to the Aqua Boogie too.
They don't make bands like this anymore!
that's Tyrone Lampkin on drums. Jerome Brailey left the band during the Flash Light tour of the previous year.
Why did he leave?
@@DJGary0910only reason ANY of them left… $$$
Gary was representing! Great performance by a more than legendary band.

@michaelcoburn2975 Without a doubt my man. Totally agree with you here. Eddie was, "the truth"! One of the greats in terms of playing guitar.
He's easily one of the greatest to have ever picked up a guitar he's criminally under-rated too
The horns !!
Horns Indeed 🤜🏾🤜🏾🤜🏾
Thank You
Wow. This is hot!! Long live the Funk!!!
Is it me or is Bernie Worrell clowin on the keyboards, Will somebody else watch this video & let me know that bernie is clowin on the keys.
