"Look at me beating anorexia" I got chills and started to cry. I didn't know how much I needed to see this. I am 25 years post being hospitalized and almost dying from anorexia. I didn't realize that I am still not completely free. I've come sooo far and I thought I was free but I think I still make rules for myself that I don't even realize! This video really inspires me to challenge myself even more! God bless you and keep on healing and challenging yourself!

Hey @LisaHooper... me too! Same timeline as you, and thanks to young'uns like Ro and others on youtube, I'm just now facing the fact that I have lots of restrictive rules still in place with food, even after all this time, and restrictive rules blending into other parts of life too. I have been feeling pretty dissatisfied lately, and here's hoping that working to allow more things into my life might fix that. Strength and courage your way!

I'm wondering if you could highlight the difference between being "proud" of someone and being inspired and motivated. You are an intelligent young woman and I think it's important that social media plays a part in educating younger watchers ... I'm also a long term anorexia / bulimia chooser or sufferer of living ( I don't know now, I'm 48, eating differently since 12 ) Being proud of someone means they have been involved in whatever the outcome is..I'm sorry, despite my eating habits and hospital...I became a secondary teacher and perhaps that is bugging me. I'm fond of English sayings and grammar. I find it demeaning when someone I don't know and has nothing to do with me tells me They Are Proud Of Me. and that's how it should be.
Could you imagine all these people taking personal pride for your success?. Grammar needs to be updated because it's looking cringey.

@@eddie6184 I think I understand what you are saying and I can only apologise if my comment caused anyone any offence or came off as patronising at all as that was certainly not my intent. Perhaps my choice of wording was poor and instead I should’ve used the word ‘pleased’…I have so much admiration for Ro and that is what I was trying to convey. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I will keep this in mind in the future!

Hey, Ro! I’m a personal trainer and diet coach (10 years exp) and I somehow got your channel recommended to me. I have worked with clients who were recovering from EDs and I have watched every single one of your videos. I absolutely love your content.
I know I don’t know you, but I am very proud of you. You’re a very likeable and responsible youtuber and (this almost never happens) I actually completely agree with everything you are saying.
If anyone is reading this, RO GIVES LEGIT ADVICE. Everything has a place in a balanced diet, but what a “balanced diet” is can be different depending on what state you are in! I absolutely support food freedom and I wish a lot more people in my field did too.

It’s helped me so much watching this as I’m in my first month of recovery and most days find really hard as the meal plan has now increased to 3x meals 3x snacks but I’m doing it through all the tears, guilt and shame and aiming for that wonderful food freedom I’ve not had since my early teens(I’m now 53!) so you young ones are in the best place possible to start recovery now(I hope that doesn’t sound patronising!) I just mean there’s so much more help now than there used to be and don’t be like me and waste so many years in chains to a disorder that robs you of real life!

Hi Ro!! I actually don't have anorexia, but a binging problem and struggle with self-image a lot. I started a recovery journey two months ago with a nutritionist because I was having horrible anxiety due to my habits and also was 25 kilos over my healthy weight, lost my period and had horrible skin. I know is not the same as anorexia, but mentally and physically it can get pretty similar. I've been watching your videos for months now, they gave me determination and strength to tell my parents about it, and now, I'm on my 4 medical revision, happy to say I'm getting there!! My body feels completely different, I don't feel like collapsing anymore, people say my eyes are brighter too :) !! I stopped self-sabotaging. I relate so much to your videos, I feel like I'm not the only one getting over an ED, and is extremely comforting. Thank you so much, and I'm so happy you are doing so great, good for you!! Everyone that is struggling right now, you will get over this!!

i remember the first time i had garlic bread in my recovery, its so sad that an illness could take flavours away from me that i always had enjoyed. when my anorexia started, it was my relying on another behaviour as i way trying to stop another, to cope.. so i totally get the "anorexia said i couldn't have it because it made me happy when i was younger". anyway, so so proud of you girl, you've been helping me since my day one, literally actually, i started my recovery around when your first video came out so you've been with me the whole time :) i CANNOT emphasise the amount of love i have for you, it makes me emotional thinking of the fact i don't actually personally know you x

Do you think it be easier to face the foods if you stopped labeling them as fear foods? That almost gives them more power. Also, maybe try to just eat the food without delaying or discussing it first? I'm just trying to offer advice from what worked for me. I found the slow one fear food a day process too slow and controlled. Once I threw out all the rules and labels, I found my fear foods went away surprisingly quickly
