you can also add a audio input source and add "usb audio" that works too.
Hi, I use a dual laptop setup to stream. I have this capture card however there's no audio from the game or from my mic (SteelSeries Arctis 5). Any advice you can share is highly appreciated. Thanks and more power.

Thank you. Others have talked about the card but you actually walked through the whole process of setting this up.
Talk is cheap. Demonstration is just needed for tech like this. Appreciate you watching AND commenting!
I bought one on Amazon this week and it has been great. It was $40, but it has the loop through on it and it's 1080p with 60 fps. Both the video and sound are great. It was a relief to find that out since I can't afford the expensive ones.
Huge. Nice find man. The ones with the loop through are perfect.
Bro i just bumped into your channel and I gotta tell you that i love your videos and how easy you explain everything especially for the not so tech savy dudes like myself. THANKS!
Much love. Thats exactly what I wanted out of these videos! Thanks for watching! 😄
Thanks for this, I struggled through some retro games with all the input lag and thought I had just lost the skills for them lol Grabbed the hdmi splitter you recommended, can't wait to try it out
It makes a huge difference. I played in the TV back in the day that had a slow response time. I couldn't figure out why i all of a sudden sucked. That delay is a killer for fps games. Once I switch to a low latency screen, I was golden again.
@@Activater I got it today and it worked perfectly. Thank you for the video!! The only issue now is cleaning up my setup haha
Greetings from the netherlands. We understand you loud and clear. So we want to see more of you. Keep it up bro.
Much love Rich! Thanks for watching!
Nicely covered, I did a lot of testing with it and seems positive.
Its great for sure. I was skeptical until I had it. For the price, this thing is killer considering what i paid back in the day for a capture card similar to this.
Serious energy . Love your posts.
This channel honestly is so great and super informative. Keep it up! Big future
Mad appreciate that comment. Thanks for watching AND commenting dude! Growth is always on my mind. ;)
Analytics shows that 20% of my suggested traffic about this same device is coming from this video, so I had to come take a look. Agree that this is great bang for the buck. Yes it has some delay, but like you said, a splitter will help. Nice review! Liked and subscribed!
Dang! That's rad information to know! As much as I helped you, seeing that statistic helped me! Thanks man! :D
Thanks for this, getting a laptop for Christmas and wanting to add things to my streams besides the basic ps4 set up and was having trouble finding a good capture card that isn't going to break the bank
This thing is well worth it. I would recommend getting a small usb extension cable for it. I've heard a couple reports that it gets hot and potentially causes a black screen if plugged directly into the pc.
@@Activater okay thank you for the helpful tip!
Thanks! Fantastic video and clear instructions. You deserve more views and subscribers man. Liked and subscribed!
Hey Mingjun, honestly appreciate that man. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! :)
I bought this thing on a whim on Amazon to hook up my daughter onto twitch, I love it the setup was pretty dang easy with a UA-cam tutorial. The only drawback is you really do need an HDMI splitter. I went ahead and bought one with four plugs, partially because it was the only one there and also I have so many devices and sick of having to unplug the ones in the back and have to plug in the new one.
I know your pain. I used to have to manually plug and unplug hdmis a lot when I started.
I picked up an HDMI splitter but I can't seem to get sound to OBS now...I was able to get sound without the splitter so I'm not sure what's happened any suggestions?
Replying for anyone else who has thing issue. I closed down OBS unplugged the capture card, plugged back in and turned OBS back on...works...so ya there we go lol
Love when people solve their problem and post it back here! I was about to try trouble shooting with you! 😅 Good stuff buddy
Something to note is that if you're using it for a camera, it can do 720p at 60FPS. For a smaller window, like a small corner face cam, you can get some sweet 60FPS goodness.
100% this.
If you never have a full screen face cam, you'll never know its 720p.
Nice quality video,love the setup!
Appreciate that man! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the vids as always!

I have that card, (or something very similar) it's awesome. I still use my camlink a lot of the times but this one has never failed me.
I've just bought the same two devices but for a different reason, to upload recordings from my Sky box to my PC. HDMI through the dongle then hopefully the splitter will defeat the HDCP.
Are you cold there? Just wondered why you're wearing a shirt, hoodie, waistcoat. cap with the hood up over the top all while sat inside?
Its been a chilly couple days. However, I also wear this stuff for style reasons. I'm not a huge fan of wearing just a t-shirt. I like jackets. Lol
Lol I just bought this exact thing the other day, I think I was the one to point it out in chat. Works well with my G7 for streaming an vlogs + other stuff. Love it. CHEAP
The price is unmatched.
Does it send both audio + vedio from my phone to obs
Like if I want to stream pubg
Hey I also have Panasonic camera, but the source doesn't show up in OBS when I add "video capture device" (It does in window's device manager). My HDMI output settings in camera are set correctly.. Did you have to change anything to get it to work?
@@ZeroFuxBE I did not have to change anything, you might have a setting off somewhere dive deep into each and check otherwise I can hop in discord.
Hey, sincere apologies for getting back to you later than your job needed. However, I dont think I've seen your issue. Do you haveba second pc to test on? Or mac?
I’ve been happy with this for the cost. I picked mine up for under $11 on eBay when I did my video review on it. When you weigh the cost versus what it does this thing is unmatched. It’s an awesome way to get people with little funds away into streaming or even UA-cam recording.
What are you using to make your cam go back and forth like that?
Hey dude, appreciate you watching! I ended up making a video on the moving camera thing here: ua-cam.com/video/vbMqICGA-sw/v-deo.html I'll end up making a real in-depth video soon as when i made that video, I was more skeptical on getting it out there to everyone.
You're doing a GREAT job...keep grinding! Subbed.
This means a lot man. Thanks for watching and commenting. :D
Hey man, so I was thinking about buying one of these. I want to dual PC stream on a budget because I already have 2 pc's. So would you recommend it for capturing signal from my Main PC and using an other output from my GPU for my monitor (display port). Already have the audio figured out with voicemeeter and was debating on this.
100% you should test it! I think you have a solid mindset on this. Give it a try! If you dont want to spend money, look into NDI. That'll transmit the signal over your ethernet cables.
@@Activater Nah, my internet is trash for ndi, already tried ndi and it was a stuttery mess. I'll look into this.
Been using this device for console streaming. It worked so well, I ordered 4 more so I can connect multiple consoles for streaming with my teenage boys. I got it for 8 dollars on eBay.
SO CHEAP! Nice find!! These things are rad.
@@Activater right, let's be real, I'm not the next Doc or Ninja. I just got 5 capture devices for half the price of a used Elgato card. The kicker in my opinion is this, most people watch on their phones and you only need 720p @ 60 to look good on the small screen.
How did you get the audio? I cant seem to get any audio from my ps4
I stream Xbox, and didn't have an issue picking up audio. I use this capture device, Ubuntu Linux, and OBS. It was pretty much plug and play. Not sure if maybe it's a Windows issue. Here is a troubleshooting guide you can try to get HDMI capture going if you have issues with it in the link below. Another thing to remember first though, we are buying unbranded $10 capture devices. I would guess that they may cut a corner on quality control.

@@Activater and Great artist Picasso do you think I should give it a try, is it good with a ps4 stream lab set up?
No camera for now
I think it wouod be great. However, depending on your games, you may want one of the capture cards with a loop through so you can send a direct hdmi signal to a monitor or tv for gaming.
When just using the capture card, there's a subtle delay that is noticeable with competitive FPS games.

Im trying to setup my stream so I can run my Sony a6000 as well! Its great to hear that it actually works. I am waiting for the Capture card to ship. My question is, do I also need the splitter if I plan to stream from my PC? I'm kinda confused on what the splitter exactly does. The end goal is to use my a6000 as a webcam and then stream my games from my PC! Thank you in advance for any help!
Bryan Agahan I use a splitter because I run my gaming on an Xbox. So for me to have as little video latency as possible for my games I split the hdmi signal to my monitor for gaming and to the capture card for the pc to be captured in SLOBS. I’m f you’re all PC based you won’t need a splitter

Your moving camera is making me nauseous, otherwise good video.
I get it. There're about 5% of people that are affected by the camera. I think it's due to all the cuts in the video, but it's hard to pin point why a few people get motion sickness. Thanks for watching regardless dude!
Jumpcuts and a slider are not a good idea.
i was about to comment on moving cam making me motion sickness. you beat me to it
It can be a little much for sure.
Some people are affected like this. Pretty wild but understandable. It's similar to people who can watch movies that are handheld cameras.
The way your camera moves in the background makes my eyes trip out. Its a cool effect!
Its not for everyone and I'm still learning how to make it work with YT videos with edits/cuts in the video. Thanks for watching and letting me know how you feel about it!! :D
@@Activater You are absolutely welcome. Its great!
@@Activater id imagine B roll or cutting to a 2nd angle before cutting back to the moving camera might help it be less Jarring the moving camera is 100% your style though so it'd be a shame to lose is completely...
I think you're right. Maybe a second angle that's the same as this angle but something I could cut to at times. Maybe a close up or even a wider shot.
Got this the other day and I have to say for the pricepoint this is unbeatable. For those still running an old ass laptop like myself I use it as an input with zoom with great success for recording.
I didn't think of the benefits to older PC's. Nice to hear man!
@@Activater yeah man especially since Im always on the go Ive had to adapt and cant always have the option of connecting a TV. Either way great video brother new subscriber here.
Bro thanks because I’m starting to do UA-cam and I bought all my stuff and found this video and the capture card is god like
Awesome man! Wish you luck! This card is great. Really nice to have for the money.
Yo. Just wondering. Can you just plug it into a USB on your PC then loop the HDMI cord to your graphics card?
Like, take the signal from the capture card and send it out of your graphics card? Technically you could do this, but it would still have the delay effects as you have in OBS. basically, you'd need to plug that HDMI cable from the GPU to a tv or monitor so that your pc would recognize it. Then with OBS, you would right click the main preview, then select "full screen projector preview, then select that tv or monitor. it will send whatever is on your obs to your TV/monitor. However, you could also right click on ANY source and project that to the tv/monitor by itself. Just need to make sure you right click on the source itself rather than the main obs preview monitor.
Hope this helps!
I randomly stumbled on this and bought both the card and the splitter with you affiliates pages. Thank you! Now, do you have a recommendation on entry level headphones and cameras??
Absolutely. First off, thanks!! Second, what's your budget for both of those? Are you looking for a webcam, or a higher end camera that is a step up from a web cam? For the headphones: wireless or wired? Also, does you need a mic on the headphones?
@@Activater thanks a lot for responding, and no problem! I am just getting into all of this, so stuff like this is invaluable.
The webcam on my HP is so-so, so improvement there would be great. I may have a HD Sony Camcorder laying around somewhere, but I haven't seen that thing in a long time. Just in case, a webcam recommendation would be great. Headphone with a mic is also the target. All in for both: about $150, but I am flexible if there is much improvement in the price tier above wat 75-100 each pulls in.

Does any HDMI splitter work. Also does it come with an extension cable
Yes any splitter should work. And no it does not come with a extension cable.
It does not come with an extension. Some do, but those usb cable extensions are super cheap too.
Any splitter will be just fine.
How do you fix the audio delay for the people who are watching you?
Audio for your mic or the game audio?
For mic, you could always add a delay as a filter for the audio source that is too early compared to your video or a video delay if your audio is too late.
For game: it should be in sync with the video, if not, try above.
I have two of these bulk capture sticks, bought them from aliexpress, about 10e a piece. Captures footage from Switch nicely for streaming :).
Super easy and cheap capture cards.
Jump cuts are useful because they aren't very noticable. The jump cuts being so noticable is part of why the show =3 didn't age very well. This automatic dolly thing you've got set up is a class case of "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should", because it doesn't work with jump cuts at all.
Thanks for showing off this little gem, though. I might buy a few. :D
How is this guy only have 6.15k subs? Lmao his vid quality and content deserves more!
Much love dude. Maybe one day it'll happen. 😃
Appreciate you watching!
I'm so confused how the camera is so damn crisp. Mine in OBS is unbelievably grainy but when recording on the camera itself it looks great.
Using the a5100 for reference.
It's most likely your ISO on the camera being too high. Do a test, where it currently is for your OBS setup, just hit record on your camera itself. Once you record a few seconds, take the camera outside and adjust the settings (ISO first, then shutter speed) so you can see outside and record again. Take those files and put them into your OBS as media sources and just look at them. Most likely the outside will look good.
The key is to get the lowest possible number on your ISO as well as your F-Stop of your lens. Then you want to keep your shutter speed at about 1/50 or 1=/30.
If you can't see after setting the settings, you gotta increase the light in your space.
@@Activater thanks man. Will definitely try to adjust when I get off work. Appreciate the advice. :)
No worries man!
I have gotten this capture card and had no idea a splitter was needed as it was not mentioned with it. this seemed like it could just be plug and use but my question is the hookup how do you get this to display the picture on the tv? I am missing the splitter portion and seems hard to play in obs due to there lacking sound and my preview screen has most of the large sized screen cut off so that is my other issue. is there anyway to get ps4 to display on the tv while using this thing?
I mean, you don't really need a splitter unless you're trying to do a specific thing. However, you are trying to do more than just capture the image.
Couple things you can do:
-Splitter: You need this to show on a TV/record on a PC. Some capture cards have this built in sort of but with this specific usb capture card, you need a splitter unless you can plug your PC into your TV and play on that?
-Sound: Make sure when you hook up your capture card that audio is being sent out of the HDMI device. Then, in OBS, you add a video capture device. At the bottom of that screen, you can see "use custom audio". Select "USB Audio". Then, in your "Audio Mixer" area in OBS, select the little settings cog next to your audio and go to advance audio properties. From there, you can tell your audio to "monitor and output" which will play your audio to your default audio device like your speakers/headphones.
-Preview screen cut off: Right click your video source, go to "Transform" and select "fit to screen". Your canvas may be set to 720p so if your capture card is set to 1080, it'll get cut off.
PS4 on your TV/OBS: I made a video for this: ua-cam.com/video/7nqvpG28kjw/v-deo.html
Was looking at this on eBay and didn't know anything about this, glad I found your review for it, also could you use this for recording gameplay on a console like the Xbox one or PS4?
Absolutely. Anything with an HDMI output as this thing takes HDMI as its input.

I feel like if everything was in focus, your eyes would wander to what is in the background. I respect your opinion though. Just never heard it before.
I used this capture card to record Final Fantasy 10 on the PS2 console with a acv to hdmi converter and I was pissed that it was good enough to get some in game cutscene down better than in-game movements. I'm gonna play with OBS settings more to see if I can record with the CC(Capture Card) smoothly next time .
The cutscenes were smooth but not the gameplay?
Hey nice video, But can i do continuous 3-4hrs streaming with this capture card? Any Heating Issue? or Freezing issues you have found?

Hey can you help me I'm trying to find out how to set up one of those capture cards and the HDMI splitter to live stream and record videos with my Android phone which is an Alcatel 3 to PC. Can you tell me if that's possible? And how? I don't know if you can explain and if it would be easier through Instagram (PhaeOfficial). Please and thank you
Hey Phae, connecting your phone isn't always super easy. If your device has a cable that can send out an HDMI signal, then it's EZ PZ where you just connect that cable to your phone and then to the capture card/splitter to send the signal to your PC.
However, if there isn't a cable that supports that for your device, you'll need to either put an android emulator on your PC and play there or send your phones image to your PC via usb or wirelessly with an screen mirroring application. Ill try to find a good app, but check this article in the meantime to find something that could work: fossbytes.com/android-screen-mirroring-apps-pc/amp/

I connected the laptop to PC monitor and the video is pinkish / purple now.
It was good the last time I used it connected laptop to smart TV.
Do you know what could be the issue here?
I've tried 2 HDMI cables and still the same.
Try a different port on the laptop? Try a USB extension cable? Lastly, test plugging your device into a TV or something just to make sure its still working properly
Do you absolutely need an external power source on the HDMI splitter? Or does it work just fine without it? I was looking at a couple that don't actually have a slot for them like yours had a microUSB one. Just one HDMI slot on one end and two on the other.
With my experience, most that don't have power end up messing up the colors and sometimes the image gets SUPER funky looking.
@@Activater I see. That is good to know. Thank you for replying!
@@theshizlet1 no problem!
Thanks for the great video bro! Can you give us an update on how this has held up? I would like to buy one, but I am scared of it overheating as I have read in many negative reviews on it.
I use it every day. I have a gopro hooked up to it for my cat. :) solid piece of tech.
Also, it has never overheated for me. It gets warm, but those reviews seem odd to me.
Do I have to download a certain software on my computer before I plug in the dongle that's connected to my console?
You can download software at any point. You will need some sort of software like OBS to see anything.
Can this be used to record your screen on your fire stick to make a tutorial video on on to work the stick
I have not tried this with a firestick. However, as long as the source you are plugging into the capture card is and HDMI source, you should be fine. I think the firestick is an HDMI device right?
I got everything setup but where would I plug my mic into the computer or Xbox? And if I do have to plug it into the computer how would my part chat hear me?
oof, I thought I answered this. I generally plug my console mic into my console, and have a separate mic for my PC. Also, I end up sending the audio from party chat to my pc by setting the console to send the audio over speakers rather than headset. I made this video recently if you need help with your xbox: ua-cam.com/video/EjUQbjkVwN0/v-deo.html
I have the one with loop version and I gotta say it is recommended for those who want to stream their console games. if you can afford elgato/camlink maybe that’s the one you’re looking. but let say you’re new and you’re on a budget, you dont want to spend that much money just like me, well this could be the solution.
This times 1,000. Thanks for watching and mentioning this Yoroi!
so what do you guys think get 4 of these instead an atem mini just for 30 fps 4 angle live stream things?
Honestly, its the cheaper option as long as you don't mind setting up hot keys in OBS to do the things that the ATEM does. I would also reccomend usb extension cables and/or maybe a hub to plug them all in to.
Got a question, will this capture the party chat audio from both you and other members on ps4?
You need a mic to capture yourself. most headsets don't play your voice to your speakers/headphones. You'll need a separate mic on your PC to capture your audio.
The party chat can be captured by sending your party audio to your "speakers" in your console settings.
I bought a generic "USB HDMI capture card" it seems like a mash between the two you were showing. When I record gameplay it doesn't look good when I watch the recording and I'm not sure how it's gonna look for streaming, do I need to play with the video settings? What's up?
The recording looks bad? Looks like it's the encoding settings that are too low maybe.
Test this in your encoder settings in OBS:
(Make sure to look at the the advanced options rather that the "simple options". This is a drop down menu at the top of one of the settings pages. This is also pretty generic settings but hopenit helps!)
(If you got an RTX Card)
Encoder: NVENC
Bit rate: 6000-8000 kbps
Quality: max quality
(If you have a decent CPU)
Encoder: x264
Bit rate: 6000 kbps
Quality: fast or faster.
(The faster = less quality but might be needed to run your games better)
(If you have a budget PC)
Encoder: NVENC or x264
Bit rate: 3500-5000 kbps
Quality: max quality or very fast
Bit rate will affect quality a lot but you can't go over 6000-8000 on Twitch.
Encoder will tax your machine to get a video to your viewers. An rtx card will make this not a big deal. But using your CPU(x264) to encode will potentially cause your game performance to suffer.
For recordings, just set the bit rate to like 15-20,000 and you'll be happy.
Can i use this card to record games using two pc ( gamer pc will be the source and laptop for recording )?
Absolutely
So if i understand it Good with loop trough is actualy the Same as the Otter with Splitter but the Loop trough is just onze device instead of 2?
The capture card with the loop-through is basically the same as the main device I show here with an added option to send the HDMI signal elsewhere ontop of sending the signal to your PC. So, yes, you are correct.
@@Activater alright thank you very much
What camera did you use to make this video very clean
Hey! Thanks for watching man! Check out my camera and most of my gear here: kit.co/Activater
Thank you for your video! I’ve bought both the capture card and the hdmi splitter you use in the video. Could you try to explain to me and help out with this hookup? I think I have it right, but the video capture video isn’t showing. The PS4 is showing on my tv through the splitter so I’m not sure why the VCC isn’t..
Hmm, it may be the HDCP settings on your PS4? Turn that off. Settings->System->HDCP disable
@@Activater thank you for replying. I just saw this but all I had to do was switch USB ports on my computer. lol
Dang, really? Lol, I love when things are that simple. Haha
Most generic capture cards like this one are powered by the MS2109 chip. However, there are a few capture cards that use the MS2130 chip which is an improvement over the MS2109 variant. Not only can it do 60fps at 1080p, but it supports the YUY2 video format and stereo sound. No more having to rely on downscaling to 720p just to record 60fps footage. Nice review by the way.
Oh awesome to hear they've updated! Are they about the same price still? I'll do some checking on my own, but I can imagine the price reflecting the newer MS2130 chip. 🤔
i have the same capture card but its not working with my sony a6500 , any idea why could this be?
Hmm, have you tested plugging your cam into a TV or monitor? Just to rule out the hdmi cable or camera settings.
Does this work for the old black xbox one? Also if it does do i need an extra cable for it. I’ve got two hdmi cables.
Depends on what you're trying to do. If you just want to capture your gameplay while playing from inside OBS, you can do that with just plugging your Xbox one to the capture card and previewing it inside of OBS. If you want to game at a lower refresh rate from the little lag that this capture adds, you'll need a splitter to have another HDMI cable plug directly into a tv/monitor for no latency.
Just started streaming again thinking abt buying this thanks
It's solid for what it is. The first link in the description is only $19 and its one day shipping. (as of right now)
Appreciate you watching man!
Yo! just went through all the comments and couldnt find the answer to my question. I bought an HDMI Splitter, and this dongle. I'm able to get my device onto my second monitor(xbox 1) but it doesnt pick up my capture through OBS. Any work arounds on that? im so confused as to why its not picking up
Have you tested the USB dongle by itself?
Also, I've been hearing issues with these plugged directly into a PCs USB port. Do you have a USB extension cable by chance?
U deserve at least 500k subs man awesome video
Much love Hardline. Hopefully one day!
Is this a full hdmi connector or a mini hdmi connector in the video capture card?
Full normal sized HDMi
Hey man great video! So just for confirmation I have a MacBook Air 2020 and only have 2 USB C slots. Would that be fine for this if I was to stream from my Nintendo switch?
This is possible, but USB type C is different from what this capture card is. You'd need a USB to USB type C cable to convert the capture card to work on your Mac
@@Activater thank you for the advice, I ordered it and luckily already had a USB C - USB converter. Only issue I’ve had is it is very delayed on OBS to the point where games like Mario and Zelda are unplayable, know any solutions to this?
@@Huvexed thats the one flaw with this cheap card. It works, but playing off it is tough. Getting a splitter for it to send the image to a monitor is what I would do. That way you get full resolution and fps on a different monitor or same monitor if you dont mind unplugging it.
Here's a video on it: ua-cam.com/video/0lQ_KrppWcE/v-deo.html
Also:
ua-cam.com/video/Tu-4G7uIg0c/v-deo.html
Connect it from other PC HDMI output - will it show screen from the PC in webcam app ?
Yes. As long as it is a hdmi source, the card will pick it up! :)
How should I set this up for a laptop and monitor set up without connecting tv (monitor) to laptop
You'd need an hdmi splitter to send a signal to the laptop and the TV.
so do you need an extension cable? Just want to make sure just in case I decide to purchase this
I would suggest the USB extension. I've heard issues with it directly plugged in, but also, the extension would save you from potentially breaking it while its sticking out of your pc.
@@Activater alright, thank you
