Best presentation I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much. I have endured torture from doctors who told me this condition was stress-based even though I have neurological symptoms and a condition that affects the rest of my body. I’ve felt like a dismissed joke. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for compiling the research and studying this condition with such compassion. I wish my doctors would listen to your presentation in full.

Had burning mouth syndrome for about a year. I found It difficult to brush my teeth with regular toothpaste. After trying many brands, l found the kids watermelon and strawberry flavour (found at Walmart) the only paste l could use. If your suffering with this and worried your teeth are getting cavities due to the pain of cleaning your teeth give the kid stuff a try. Hope this helps.

It actually may well be in the head, Dr John Sarno the chronic pain specialist describes BMS as one the many different mind body syndromes ( In most ppl MBS manifests as severe back pain) that may occur at times of severe stress, depression. The brain scans of people who suffer from central pain sensitization show low seratonin and dopamine levels, it is all related to stress.

Thank you so much for putting this very detailed educational and easy to grasp video on burning mouth syndrome . I have burning mouth syndrome for the past 6 weeks , it was diagnosed within 2 weeks of symptoms . I got burning mouth syndrome directly from a tooth extraction that was complicated because I’am on warfin for the past 22 years from having a mitral valve replacement. Whatever the oral surgeon used to prevent bleeding after the extraction worked brilliantly but unfortunately triggered BMS . My symptoms are mainly on my tongue and it’s exactly painful at the tip of the tongue and can move from side to side as you stated at the beginning of the video .. I thought it might be getting better two weeks ago but sadly flared up again as bad as ever .. I’am not as depressed about it as much as I was initially, I think ? but possibly have a low grade depression from the chronic pain . it might be worth my while trying the tablet that melts on your tongue or visit my endocrinologist and discuss hormone possibilities .. I’am 68 and not sure he would consider prescribing hormone replacement for me at my age + my mother had a mastectomy when she was 60 years of age ..thank you again. You are a marvellous doctor and teacher. I appreciate the work and research you put into this video, I really do!

I gave up all pre packaged foods, breads/flours, seed oils salad dressing, mayo, also stopped eating out for a few months. My symptons (burning lips & tongue cleared, as did fibromyalgia. I suffered BMS. It was horribly painful & debilitating. In my case, it was caused by a severe allergic reaction to nuts, wheat, soy and/or molds in these products. Highly sweetened foods and beverages also worsened the burning, in my case. I stopped eating these products and the BMS stopped. Over the counter pills for allergies also provided some relief for me. Testing for allergies related to these, or other food substances one is ingesting or breathing may be a good idea.

I have been dealing with BMS for almost 3 years now. It started a couple to three weeks after having a tooth removed by an oral surgeon and taking medication for infection. After reading some of this information, the one common link I have read is that I and some others took antibiotics after having oral work done.

The cranial bones are not fused and have minute movements that promote the correct flow of spinal fluid in and out of the brain and spinal canal. So, removing a tooth can offset the jaw and/ or upper palate. This can cause abnormal pressures on the cranial nerves ( check that out) and nerve dysfunction/ pain in many facial areas. Check out the videos by Brendan Stack, DDS if they are still up. Brilliant person. A craniosacral therapist / traditional osteopath may help. ❤️

Thank you for this thorough discussion. I just had an appt with an allergist who suspects burning tongue and is starting with ordering a slew of blood tests. He mentioned possible hormonal, mast cell, etc., issues. I went to him for food allergies and we'll do the skin scratch tests after blood tests. I have chronic lower back pain as well, due to degenerative disc disease. These issues are certainly depressing and I look forward to getting relief.

I had a complete hysterectomy when i was 30 years old and refused to take Premarin... so, my hormones are wayyyy. out of whack..... perhaps I could benefit from bioavailable hormones. however, my young doctor says no way she would give me hormones because of heart problem they might cause.... I would like to try the hormones for a period of time to see if it helps because i have had one or another chronic pain problem for years.... fibromyalgia. etc.

I take zinc, B-complex, B1, Vit D, & other supplements daily. I've also been on Levothyroxin for about 5 yrs bc of hypothyroidism, but my levels are good.. as is my glucose level.
But my burning tongue & mouth... I know exactly when it started! It was about 3.5 yrs ago, right after I had 5 top teeth pulled & got a partial (my teeth were breaking & a crown broke off at my gumline). Then last January, I had to have the rest of my uppers pulled & I got a denture because more teeth had chipped & another crown broke off (I have had weak teeth my whole life). Trust me, this is HORRIBLE! My tongue burns within an hour of waking up & the inside of my lips feel raw a lot. Many times now, it feels like nerve endings are exposed on the edge of my now toothless top gums. I also get cotton mouth a LOT, but I know I'm still producing saliva bc I can feel it on the outside of my lips. I had never heard of this until it started happening to me... and I wouldn't wish it on ANYONE!

This problem started happening to me two months ago. I have autoimmune issues. My tongue is white and I have no doubt I have a Candida issue. I’m wondering though if this is a cervical issue. I fell off my bike a bit before this happened. I already have cervical issues from ankylosing spondylitis. The problem is that I have so many possible causes. I’ve dealt with reflux a lot but changing to a raw vegan diet has helped tremendously. My tongue also appears swollen. I can see my teeth marks on the side of my tongue. I’ve also been diagnosed with lupus and mast cell. The burning is non stop even if I water fast.. so it doesn’t seem Food related. The only medication I take is PRN klonopin and an antihistamine if needed.. but I’ve been trying to ween from klonopin.. was taking it for mast cell.

      Type burning mouth syndrome.
There is a doctor in Miami that relates this issue to Cervical instability.
He explains that the nerves are involved.

@Heather Digsby My burning mouth started immediately after a neck injury. Look at Dr. Hauser videos. Changes in the jaw can also cause neck instability and the consequences. The neck injury also affected my hypothalamus/ pituitary from altered pressures in the brain/ nervous system.
So, a hormonal approach may help ? .

@@nanallen1 I also have lots of trouble with my neck and wondered about that too. Thanks for the info. I've also wondered about fluoride toxicity?

    • @nanallen1
      @nanallen1 3 роки тому

@@prepperhaulyall9372 I do not know about fluoride, but once the neck “ isn’t right” all kinds of things can happen. My experience : after my neck injury I developed all kinds of issues, including hormonal issues, visual, hearing, muscle jerking, tremor, bladder, bowel, more. The hypothalamus and pituitary are located in areas of the brain that can be affected by too much pressure from spinal fluid ( we make about 1 1/2 pints a day ? ) that can not flow well into the spinal canal in the neck. The burning mouth may be caused by pressure on the cranial nerves in the brain stem area. This was proven for me by a neurosurgeon who did an special CINE MRI study that looked at spinal fluid flow. I have mild scoliosis, which runs in the family. Think this is a risk factor. Here is what helped me : NUCCA Chiropractic ( very gentle , no twisting, jerking ); craniosacral work, gentle pool. Appreciate that the sacrum, pelvis has a huge influence on the neck. So a history of a broken tail bone or fall on pelvis can also start issues.
An expert on body mechanics and realignment is Jerry Hesch , Ph. d physical therapy. In Colorado. Look at his videos. Sending hugs.

Mine started after dental fillings. I have had scans and lots of blood work. I have swollen lip and throat and have even blacked out after eating. I fear eating now. I have lost so much weight I can only sleep now. I think it's the materials from fillings. It's terrifying. Even my eyes are blood red. Do you have to take all of these or just certain combinations?

Was in your place for more than ten yrs! It really sucks! Mine was lips, tongue, & eyes. Eight yrs ago stopped eating 99% prepackaged foods stopped, late afternoon dirty martini (sigh🙁),drink 2 cups coffee, and lots of water all day. Didn’t eat out for many month (my choice ). Found that I had adopted an intermittent fasting food schedule. 8 - 16. The first yr….may hv been 8-9 mos, my burning mouth/ eyes were, basically gone.
If I were in your shoes, Would definitely drop all sugars, seed oils, breads/ flours. Yes….it is hard for first week w/o your brain screaming for something SWEET! 2nd week is better and so on. Cook with avocado oil
butter, coconut oil and use EVOO for light sautéing . I dropped 55 lbs w/O trying! Changed to whole food- plant based with red meat 2 - 3 x week .Other Doc’s on YT say “you can reset your body by going on a 36 hr fast! Please though……don’t just take my word,,,,research for yourself. “HEALTH BENEFITS OF FASTING “

I think a carnivore diet may help. It literally kills any inflammation in the body. Heals so many diseases auto immune, gut issues etc. You just eat only animal based foods including fish. Fatty meats are the best for woman especially. We need the fats for our hormones as we age. Most things usually boil down to inflammation and nutrition or lack there of is usualy the culprit. Its worth a 30 day try. Research it on youtube. There are lots of videos on it and its healing benefits even diabetes along with weight loss.
