As a Chiefs fan it’s still crazy to me this guy is our QB! Doing what he did; 50 TD & 5k yards his first year starting, SB in year 2, league MVP. He could’ve asked for 4Y/240M and deserved every penny! Instead he signed a 12Y/502M deal with 66M guaranteed at signing. That’s INSANE!! It has rolling guarantees every season that lock in the next year and can be converted to roster bonus. The flexibility he has given the team is so valuable! Guys like Dak and Kirk squeeze every last drop they can get. While producing at a mediocre level compared to their compensation. He’s never changed and has honestly gotten more mature and become a better leader. He makes the haters sound more ignorant and jealous every season.
Well fkn said 👏👏👏
Well said indeed
But guys like Kirk and Dak are limited guys and are just thinking about themselves and taking advantage of their careers to make as much money possible, a Super Bowl on top of that is just a bonus for them
Remember when Trent Green was our best quarterback? Lol.
Meanwhile we’ve built a top 5 defense with the 2nd youngest unit I believe! After this year it’ll be interesting losing a lot of defensive guys to FA. Luckily Chris Jones is an absolute menace on top of how well we tend to draft in the secondary. Thank you 25 for making me a fan years ago lol!
@colt we’ll always have churn but as long as the defensive staff stays together they’ve shown they can train up young guys with the right traits and athleticism
Ain’t you guys the same people who said the Mahomes contract was dumb when he signed it? Thought we wouldn’t remember
😅👍
But I’ve been told numerous times that there’s no way a 500 million dollar deal could be team friendly
u guys forgot theres 2 bargain contract in KC, travis kelce.
travis been told repeatedly by his agent to ask for more money, but he's fine with the $ given by KC
both of these guys earn outside of field with their success.
At some point, all the 50m+ aav QBs have to ask themselves "How am I supposed to win anything in a salary cap world if I'm being paid more than Mahomes?" Cause I for one cant figure out how they are
So contracts continue to escalate, yet very few teams and Quarterbacks want to copy what the Chiefs do. Patrick Mahomes is a team guy. Guys like Dak Prescott are ME guys. One wins Super Bowls, the other fails at every turn.
Very few teams have a Patrick Mahomes. In fact, just one does. The crazy thing is 49 million a year being a bargain. Yet even though that sounds like crazy talk, it genuinely is when that guy is back there winning rings.
@@btbarr16 You don't have to pay a mediocre QB, 50 million dollars like the Dolphins with Tua or the Cowboys and the idiot Dak Prescott. No QB in the league should be making more than Patrick Mahomes. No one else is winning Super Bowls. The buck should stop there. It doesn't, and that is the main reason why those other teams lose.
@PGO_Gaming preach brother. Mahomes is the standard. Other teams wanna pay guys more for less, that's on them.
Tom Brady the ultimate teammate
Chiefs fan here, fellas at work were certain Burrow would take a team friendly deal. I’m super curious how that matchup will look with their OC departing. Go Chiefs!
and when that pig loses his best receivers apart from Chase.
@@ak203 not too mention they had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last year, I’m just personally irked by the arrogance Bengals fans had after that SB appearance lol…
@@coltfrazier6563Yeah, they made it pretty difficult to root for them, even as an underdog.
If I was a Bengals fan, I'd be more worried about Burrow's injury history. When healthy, he's great.
The other qbs aren’t making what Mahomes makes in endorsements
It's not a "bargain" contract. Mahomes got his in 2020 before the current crop of QBs got theirs. He chose do do a lengthy contract because (per him) he wants the rings more than the money. Please tell me we wont' have another season with sportscasters claiming he's soooo underpaid and we should Do Something!!! Why? Probably because they want Chiefs to face even more of a cap hit. He's paid so little that he's a part-owner of the Royals. But I guess that means he's underpaid. smh
Maybe instead of complaining about Mahomes' contract, you all should be talking about how many QBs are overpaid for what they have given to their teams.
(Mahomes is worth every freaking penny & as a Chiefs fan I am grateful that he is so flexible with his contract for the good of the team.)
The national media can’t get over the fact that mahomes values winning over making the most money
This just goes to show you … that these teams generally don’t want to or will pay a player his full value unless the player has all the leverage
Some QBs are greedy and they take a beating in games due to not having a good Oline. Others just have greedy owners who tell the QBs right up front we are not paying you 1/2 a billion no one deserves that kinda money.
Mahomes would take even less money but he'd make the other QB's mad by possibly keeping the QB market low. There's a lot of pressure from the league for every superstar to drive the market higher and higher, not conducive to keeping top level talent and possibly winning multiple championships
This is true. Other QBs think Mahomes has the responsibility to drive the QB salary market higher.
@@markb3786 Agreed, have you ever played blackjack at a casino? You sit down thinking it's you against the dealer but the other players will moan and groan if you don't play what's best for the table LOL
I’ve never seen 5 minutes to answer a question and then never answer the question in my life
Then you've never paid attention to politicians.
By 0:59 he already answered that it's Mahomes.
And you still haven’t, as at the one minute mark he clarifies that it’s “easily Mahomes”. 😂
Bro got half a BILLION and it’s a bargain 😂😂 Why am I not 6’4 God??
B. Purdy has the most team friendly contract….. smh
Rookie contract isnt player choice. Lets see how much Purdy want for this first extension.
What contract would Pat Mahomes command if he was a free agent next season and trying to get the largest contract possible?
70mil per year easy.
I think more top players need to do the Ohtani strategy: defer as much money as you can and rely on your marketing deals to make you your money. That leaves the team with much more flexibility in signing players to make your time with the team successful. Mahomes gets it. Brady got it as well.
Good thing Pat speaks English
Following Brady and Manning formula before him, get paid 3-6 highest in nfl salary and win games when endorsements pay way more anyways
Mahomes smart he doesn’t want to be the next dan Marino
WHEN THE SB58 RING ? ETA ?
Championships bring all the cash in the end
Pat mahomes
um purdy made 800k last year and almost won the sb I think he's the best deal
Purdy is trash
If he'd have won the SB then yes, but he was just the first place loser last season. Top value is always the winning QB, especially if that QB has brought you back to back SB wins.
Not because of him though lol. He was on the most stacked roster in football and lost to a team that has had to be restricted by the salary cap for years 😂
Non Rookie contracts don’t count because they are all bargains. He is the 55rd highest paid player on his team (he’ll be number 1 next year when he gets his deal)
No one wants to say it but of course the way Dak has approached money (for example) is worse for winning and more selfish, as opposed to Brady and/or Mahomes
I think Daks contract was also a symptom of how the Cowboys run things nowadays. It's more important to pay the most for our guy, then it is to prove that guy is worth the most. They've kinda had that contract issue since the Moose days and Dak is no different.
Russell Wilson was more interested in making huge money and being frustrated about his line play, then taking slightly less so they could get/keep better lineman. Even in the best of times with him, fans were slightly frustrated with that fact when it meant he was content getting to the playoffs and not much else.
Mahomes > Brady cheater
oh get a grip
28-3, Beating the legion of boom, 31-9, 3 separate HOF careers, 700+TDs, 7 rings > Mahomes so far
@@RLebeauXXXIII non cheater > cheater
@@bigchungus1848 which one cheated ? Which one couldn’t win a ring without a top ten defense? Lmfao Mahomes already won two without a top ten defense 🤡😂
@@bigchungus1848" "Spygate to Deflategate: Inside what split the NFL and Patriots apart"
Brady is a cheater and should have at least 3 Super Bowls stripped
Allows him too attend Diddy party’s
In what world is a 500 million dollar deal a bargain?
When it's a 10 year contract while everyone else is doing 4 at the max.
Banging a 60 year old
Mahomes is getting the weird end of the deal. Money.. not enough.. but enough wins
That’s what he wanted
Makes no sense why Mahomes took a pay cut.
Travis Kelce is underpaid by a lot. They let go of Sneed. They didn’t sign any big receivers. What did they even do with that extra money ?
Sign Chris Jones???
@@nickscherrer1735 yep
First of all your premise for your comment is factually wrong. Patrick Mahomes has not taken a pay cut in any way shape or form. He's converted his base pay to a salary in signing bonus in fact he's getting more money per year than he was under the original terms of the contract😂
Second of all Travis Kelce is now currently the highest paid tight end in the league. He got a new contract this offseason for his last 2 years which makes him the highest paid tight end.
Could he demand money equal to a wide receiver pay? Absolutely and he'd be worth every bit of it, but that's not who he is. Just like Patrick mahomes, Travis Kelce values championships more than money. And as they said in this video, they've got more money than they know what to do with already.
As far as where did the money go, there is no extra money, you do realize there's a salary cap right? In fact they really did need to let Sneed go because they couldn't afford to pay him what he wanted and be able to pay Chris Jones.
So to answer your question, there is no extra money go look it up on google, you can see where every dying they're spending this year goes. There's no extra money there, we've still got a few contracts that need to be signed with our draft picks., and what little is left they might still look to pick up another player.
Mahomes doesn't take pay cuts. Kelce got paid, Chris Jones got paid, Mike Danna got an unexpected contract, they did bring in a vet WR with Hollywood Brown. For the most part kept 90% of the Defense intact. They did offer Sneed the franchise tag which was a very competitive price, but he was offered more and don't fault him for taking it. They also have to leave wiggle room for next season with Bolton, Humphrey, Trey Smith all coming due soon.
I hope Mahomes makes double the money he makes when his career is over
But him taking the sacrifice to only get paid $46M ANNUALLY and yeah plus the incentives is just knee blind CRIMINAL
I understand he got to do it to keep the team strong and spread the money to win a lot of championships but the NFL got to make a Mahomes rule where idk when you win 3 SBs, 3 SB MVPS and 2 MVPs then you got get paid money outside the cap or SOMETHING
Mahomes worth at least $80M per
Maybe you can figure out how to verbally assault our horrible catholic conservative punter again. Maybe get him fired for some cash? Lost tremendous respect for you after that. It was unnecessary. My donations will find another home.
