    I own one of the very few units that were imported into Australia. Just used it to cook a 15 pound Turkey. Done to perfection.

    Thanx Chef Ed! As I get older, I look for things to make my life and my cooking easier. The electric version is the one for me.

      Ricardo I now recomend the Big Easy 3 in 1 smoker roaster and grill propane model. It has become my go to smoker, I have some vids on it and since buying it I have not used my electric big easy except for smoking bologna

    First of your videos I have watched. This is what I really like. You did a great comparison in a real life situation and got the opinions of more than one person. Thanks for taking the time to make this great video. Now I am going to buy the electric one online and then binge-watch the rest of your videos. :)

    I use medal skewers, cut to fit across the basket that allows me to hang 4 slabs per basket.....works real well.

    I really like your take on the Char Broil Big Easy both gas and electric (that's what we have) like your BBQing and your teachings,,,,keep it up,,,,,like to see ya do some tender slow meats (blue collar affordable,,,,but is real tough) like to see try to turn a rump or a chuck into a New York steak tender,,,,we cant seem to get the hang of it,,,,,,once again,,,love your bbq videos!

    I have the gas big easy myself, love doing ribs in there. I've fit 3 racks in at a time, but I wrap them in aluminum foil first and I flip them long was half way through or the top won't get cooked. But you can do 3 full racks like that in about 90 minutes =)

    Very good review & comparison Ed. As best I can figure, you can not smoke with the gas model but obviously can with the electric one. Would that be correct? As a part time condo dweller (no open flame cooking allowed) and a long time oil fryer user, I am tending to lean towards the electric Big Easy. To me the smoking aspect is also a big advantage. I have friends that have the propane model and absolutely love it. Thanks again Ed. Your daughter is precious sir!

    Great video, thanks Ed. I noticed you left the ribs in the propane Big Easy uncovered. Would placing the griddle on top of the Big easy affect the cooking time or browning? Thanks again for the great videos!

    Where is the lid on the gas cooker? And there's definitely a smoke box on the side of my gas Big Easy. Is this an older model? My dad, my brother, and I all have a gas one and we smoke everything in it. It's a miracle of modern culinary invention. Nice review btw, ribs look awesome!!

      Ya'll must have the 3 in 1 smoker and roaster and grill, I have one now and it is far above the other Big easy cookers. It is now my go to smoker . I have since made a couple of videos using it

  • @1thcorg
    @1thcorg 8 років тому

    Just for curiosity why didn't you smoke in the gas and i noticed you didn't close the top. what temp would you have cooked the ribs on if you had the cover on the gas and were smoking them. i know i'm a pain in the butt.

    • @MrBbqed
      @MrBbqed  8 років тому

      +James Dusch This was the original Gas Big Easy Oil less Turkey Fryer it does not have a smoke box or a lid just a wire cover you use when below 40 degrees. The Gas 3 in 1 Big Easy does have a smoke box and a Lid and is now my favorite big easy. You can smoke, roast , grill and still oil less deep fry in it and it has a larger cooking chamber. Since this video I have sold my electric Big Easy because it was collecting dust :). Thanks for watching (y)

      They have this at Lowe's right now for $59. If you have a $10 off $50+ coupon code, you can get it cheaper. I just picked one up for around $52.

    Did you cook the gas ones on high, medium, or low? Were cooking the ribs today in our Big Easy and are not sure what temp to use!

    • @MrBbqed
      @MrBbqed  9 років тому

      I start out on high until it starts smoking and then turn it down to just about a 1/4 away from the lowest setting

    • @roymg
      @roymg 8 років тому

      Did not know u can adjust temp on the gas unit. How?

    • @MrBbqed
      @MrBbqed  7 років тому

      Roy G when you first fire it up turn the knob all the way up to high to lower the temp turn it counter clockwise to your desired setting you can see the flame getting smaller if you look down the side of the cooker

    • @roymg
      @roymg 7 років тому +1

      Thanks, did not know the flame was adjustable. Always turned it to fully open.

      LINDA BELLANGER From watching the video: The gas cooker has only one setting: ON. The electric one he explained twice that he set his for 525 until the wood chips started smoking, then he turned the temp down to 450 for the remainder of the 2 hours.

    Joe- re watch the video. he states the high temp is 525 and has a low of "125"..states that at 12 his temp is 450..and the gauge works in increments of 25..the math doesn't work...if the smoker decreases the temp at 25 per is has to increase as well. with a on temp that has the lowest achieved temp of 125 at 12 per 25 the temp would be 400
