That was a generous offer, rick would've offered $3,000
Honestly I agree with you so much I was surprised when he said 7 for real!
"I will give you 2k not a penny more, i have to frame it aswell, its gonna sit in the shop for a long time. Im taking all the risk here."

I like how corey always talks like he knows everything...but clearly he googled the information and practiced it over and over lol
His rock headed father does the same thing
@@ericzambelli2854 Rick is actually intelligent though, if you watch his interviews.
@brendenconner9686 phantom wolf zero 0:09
I think saying he knows how to use google is giving him way too much credit. They clearly feed him the questions and information before the show.
First time I've seen Corey be fair 😂
Coreys always fair
corey is a harder negotiator than his dad!! he definitely did better on this one
😂😂😂
@@shrimp19921 nope
Corey is cheaper than the old man was RIP
These people are too funny.
Retails 10k.
“Would you give me 17k?”
you can’t hustle a hustler
It doesn't cost him to ask right? He could ask for 30k
17k is a good price. These "buddies" are literal fakes.
@@hooniesscc It had been trimmed. This was a major problem for PSA, them grading trimmed card. Frankly, with the trimming, this should only been worth it's value as a curio. Not a card.
People expect pawn shops to pay top dollar prices for COLLECTIBLE items, which is untenable. Too much market and economic fluctuation. Best bet for top dollar pay are precious metals--gold and silver 😉
$7000.00 is a fair price for that card you fool!!
it really is. 10k seems like an auction price and at that point you are losing ALOT of money in fees.
that's why Corey is wearing a Rolex! by paying fair prices!
Yup I agree. Buddy probably got scammed and payed more than 20K for it. That sometimes lingers in the brain which is maybe why he didn't take the 7.
@@BobCassidy you can put it on ebay for $7M ... I would not pay ¢7
@@BobCassidy no, the logic is "that is stupid." Obviously they pay. "I wish stupidity was painful"
Your assumption and bias and prejudice that, that statement was my logic is flawed.
Mickey Mantle or Not that card looks like crap. $7k is more than fair. This guy selling is delusional on his asking price 😕
Yeah he should have took that and ran!
Too much value in how good the front looks to let it go for roughly 90% less than a gem mint 9-10 version of the same card. Most displays only show the front of a card anyways, I'd go so far as to say it's probably a "gem mint 9-10" of the 0 or less PSA graded examples for single sided display cards.
@jmarks881 That's just not true at all. There are collectors at every level and this card would showcase like a 30-40k card if professionally cleaned, had the back hidden from sight and mounted right.
@jmarks881I'd say 15-20k is a fair retail value though, the 10k is a low auction estimate. Might as well put it up on a site and pay the 5-10% commission on an item that will sell decently quickly.
jmarks881 it’s signed. It’s not just a card. He signed it.
I love the fact that these guys rattle off facts as if they knew it all along.
Mickey didn’t win the triple crown three times. 3 MVP’s. Won the triple crown once in 1956.
Giants Pride that was what i was saying
He also said 20 times for All-Star but it was 16
He mentioned seven world series but not if they were all victories, They were but he was in 12 World series
Cory: 7 is the best I can do
Seller: 15??
Cory : NO 7
Seller: 14,999.99 ???
I had to laugh at that.
The appraiser just told him it's worth 10k best case scenario due to the poor condition hurting it so bad and he still tries to keep asking for thousands of dollars more than what it's worth at a pawnshop.
Seller- $7001
Cory- No
Why do owners always get a lecture of the good they bring?
@@Zhoshyn It's the History Channel. Why have the show if it wasn't any bit educational
Why is that so funny
It's worth $10,000
seller: I can come down to $17,000
wtf?
Will you do 15?
It's worth $10000 according to 1 person. One person does not set the absolute value of things. Besides, many places like this have arrangements with "experts" to lowball the value of items in exchange for a large cut in the profits.
Matthew Davis they have no reason to do that, because if they did and the seller just refused to sell, then nobody makes money. This guy just doesn’t know what he had
@@shrimp19921 That's a very common thing places like that do. I just explained what their reason was for doing it.
@@matthewdavis5486 all the "expert" is, is someone who follows the market of a particular niche and knows what others of the same item has sold for in recent past. Thats it. theyre not just coming up with their own random price or something. they also dont just head on over in 5 minutes. they have lots of time to do research on the item before they come in to film, for accurate history of the item, and value.
I am a New York Yankees fan I like to here about Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth as well. They were and still are and was great baseball players.
*$7K would've been a fair price!*
@ASMR ForDays lmao this is not worth anywhere near 15-20k....in near mint condition it is worth around 40k, this is miles away from that. 10k is if someone really wants it for now but looking to upgrade it in the future and when people do that they dont really want to pay near what its worth.. realistically its worth around $8-10k
The 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle is the Extremely valuable one. Even in poor condition it’s worth around 20k. Excellent condition would go half a million possibly.
*Robber comes in*
Robber- Gimme all the money
Rick- the best i can do is 100
Hahaha Mr Brown used to rob me famously
You forgot. And that's stretching it!
Robber: *_ok deal._*
Rick: *_sweet!_*
That's an autograph from Mickey's later years. He changed the way he signed his name throughout the years. It is his rookie card but he signed it in the 1980's.
doesnt matter mickey mantle rookies in that poor of condition nowadays start around 10k… his baseball card is the holy grail. With a high quality auto you could sell that same card now for $30-40k
@Robert Anthony if it is a topps mickey mantle rookie that got stepped on and wrinkled it will sell for a few thousand. The card market is absolutely insane right now im not going to argue. Ive seen low grade mantle rookies go for stupid prices, let alone a PSA 8 or above.
@Robert Anthony His card now goes for millions $$
@Opticillusion160 there is no Topps Mantle rookie card. The 51 Bowman is his one and only rookie card.
Sports Memorabilia is always my favorite episodes💯✌
Curious as to why so many comments say the card is ugly.
I always liked the early Bowman sets.
I mean, I know it's all personal preference.
But come on, it's old world charm.
50's baseball culture is simply magical.
And those cards are too.
My old man sold his 51 Bowman cards to help pay for my college tuition.
Really wish I had those instead.
😆
The 1951 Bowman cards look great, but this card is trashed. The front looks bad enough, but the back is extremely rough. It would still be cool to have it, but not for what that guy is asking for it.
Condition is everything bro
1 triple crown, 3 mvps
That was a fair offer
Yeah it really was
I met Mickey along with the whole 62 yankee team and they all signed a ball for me, i was 12 years old and we played for the city championship at Parker field in Richmond Virginia
2:04 when the scammer realises his plan is foiled
If he were a true scammer, he would've faked the signature they didn't authenticate and taken the 7
@@seabassdarapper the signature was authenticated though

Gilbert, what do you think about him passing on $7,000?
"YOU FOOL!"
@Eagle1 Most likely the case. If he tried to get it from me, I wouldn't take any less than between 6 and $6,500 for fast cash. Whoever he got from obviously didn't know what they had. I do. Been collecting many years
Hahaha I actually saw that clip the other day. R.I.P to a legend

Rick: "Oh wow, let me call a guy who is an expert on grass!"

More specifically, White House grass.

Rick: "I'll have to pay someone to water it and mow it. Best I can do is 50 bucks."
I have a buddy who’s an expert on grass from the White House
"Worth $10k"
"Ill go down to $15k"
Lol
I think Pawn Stars adds to its popularity with the show being set in Las Vegas
The card is worth 10k and the guy wants 17k what makes him think that they’ll give him more than what it’s actually worth?
I still wonder that everytime i watch this show it makes me want to punch the guy in his face
ryan andreano lmao it just makes me laugh every time.
Hes a complete moron. Like the idiots on Craigslist selling a car for triple kelly blue book value saying, its rare!
The card probably originally cost a few pennies, he probably bought it for a few bucks. He’s being offered 7k that could at most go for 10k at an auction. I hope he lost this card on the way home.
Should have took the 7k and ran. Corey offered more than I thought he would. I would have offered 4k
yep, that was a good deal.....of course the whole deal is not real. they just handed some guy an item to act out a scene selling it.
Where's your pawn shop ?
What if Mantle hadn't broken his knee early in his life? His career stats REALLY might have been astronomical!
And he didn’t drink like a fish 🐟
@Robert Anthony To think that is amazing. Would of been grateful to been alive to just know that!
This guy is a Yankee fanatic. He tried to sell his Babe Ruth rookie season photo (which is for some reason rare) to pawn stars.
I love seeing people in denial about their stuff.....🤣🤣🤣
I'm surprised he offered 7, he must have really wanted the card! And I'm equally surprised that a card in that poor of condition is still worth 10.
Omg I would of taken the 7 grand. Surprised Cory offered that much in the first place
Corey's hand gestures looks like he's always eating greasy barbecue ribs
I remember 20 years ago I could have bought this card for 500.00 in mint condition. Man I wish I did.
You were not buying this card 20 years in mint condition for $500
It was close to it. They really took off last 10-15 years.
I have a feeling that in 50 years from now that most cards won't be worth as much as they are today.
Johnny, was it signed though?
@@jasond8477
Nope. I always heard a signed card hurt the value?
$7000 for a free, damage card??? I think I'm a walk on this one ?? LMFAO.....
The best I can do is 20$, 2 tickets to shrek on ice and a bag of twizzlers. Anything more than that, then I'm losing money.
Your comment was very funny 😀
And Dinner with Chumlee but you gotta pay.
Chum is a legend 😤😤
Joe BAHAMA MAMA is me legend
Didn’t know Corey was such a baseball buff
There is no way he knew all that without a script lmao
That expert was full of it: PSA doesn’t slab tampered cards, at all. Even for the vague AUTHENTIC denominator. They just return the card with a sticker over the holder declaring the card as too small for certification. The AUTHENTIC cert was certainly ordered to avoid a low grade number, but that card is NOT below 1. Just look around for grade 1s PSA slabs, some of those cards are truly destroyed.
It wasnt a psa slab
@Robert Anthony yeah I have no idea why I made that comment. It's clearly a PSA slab.
Mr brown and I got along....
“Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain

7 is perfect for Mickey Mantle.😊
Probably paid pennies for that card. 7k is alot of feria homie!
Take the 7k and go!
‘It’s worth 10 grand ‘
Still asks 17 what a nob end
It's crazy fr this man's stuff is worth this much crazy story my great grandma and Micky grew up near each other on a now Indian reservation I'm actually a member of in Oklahoma I heard stories of them roller blading down the road all the time there. Pretty dope 👌
"It's worth 10k"
"Would ya take 15?"
Im surprised there are people who would supposedly be willing to pay 10k for that crap card and that there is definitely a person not willing to take 7 grand for it.
Its Mickey Mantle!

Did he just say PSA would not assigned a numerical grade to a trimmed card?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Robert Anthony Trimmed cards are graded all the time. Especially from the 50’s with card size having larger tolerances from the factory
This was the reverse of what we usually see. " This will go for 10 grand", ... "The best I ask for is 17,000" lmfao
The best switch hitter of all time was Eddie Murray
Mr. Brown played baseball famously with Mickey Mantle
This is the true rookie but the 1952 tops is wayyyyy more sought after and more valuable
The best decision he made was walking away. That card will only gain value. Unbelievable that these folks consider selling these in the first place!
“ It’s worth 10 so I’ll go 7”. Seller-“ you know what , today’s your lucky day , I’ll take 17,000”
First fair offer, guys says no. Amazing.
Anyone else not know there was a season 16? I might have seen other videos from this season but I was so used to the older videos they post
That card is worth at least $50,000 now
Only if people r buying them for that much
Not in that condition it's not.
Dude talking about PSA grading it. It’s in a PSA slab already
I'm kinda shocked he offered 7 K.
It will sell in 2 days on ebay. Little time invested
It amazes me why people go into pawn shops an expect top dollar without getting any form of written appraisal.
Good appraisals from reputable appraisers cost significant money and take time
I'll go down 15
Me: excuse wtf?
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and buying from Mr. Wulkan on a few occasions at card shows and his office. He’s knowledgeable and down to earth!
$7k seemed like a very reasonable offer imo.
Rick would’ve offered ten cents, a hug, and a half eaten bag of Doritos
Condition is everything with sports cards...
Expert: Do you have a loop I can use?
Me: 0.o
Cool card
At the end of the day it's a signed mantle card and it is a rookie. A signed rookie is the crown jewel. Front looks great and back looks poor. He can easily find a buyer for 10k. At an auction it would probably go for more.
At a pawn shop...
"It's worth 10 grand so... 17?"
Good walk decision
I can't believe nobody else has commented this. But what the heck is that green lizard thing in the background at 1:55? Please, can somebody tell me?
4:02 of course you were Corey, you were thinking $5
Why are they going over the condition of the card when it’s already been professionally graded
The signature was certified NOT the card. There is a big debate over whether you should even have a rookie card signed as it actually damages the condition of the card. That being said it depends on how vintage. With the altered back, you can throw that argument out. What I find funny is he said he thought the card was trimmed. If it was it would have been noted by PSA as well. That was that guy playing reality show hero. Authentic altered have sold at auction as high as 6700 down to 846. The internet is a beautiful thing. He should have taken that $7. You might get lucky at a hot auction with that auto though.
It had been trimmed. This was a major problem for PSA, them grading trimmed card. Frankly, with the trimming, this should only been worth it's value as a curio. Not a card.
That guy was smart to walk out of there. Never go under 20% retail. 20% is fair and everyone still wins.
Expert: the condition is bad, the card’s worth $10K.
Seller: so you’ll pay me $18K for it?
🤦
Josh Gibson of the homestead grays is the only person to smack a baseball out of Yankee stadium
I that guy comes back I would seriously question my original 7K offer.
That card is damaged.
Corey reading some mantle wikipedia
They give the illusion that the staff know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING!
I think he got AL MVP’s confused with Triple crowns because he only had 1 TC but 3 MVP’s. And how did he play from 1951-1968 and was a 20x All Star? Wikipedia even says 20 and they only have 16 years listed.
LOL wtf! "Hey it's worth 10 grand."
"...nnnnnnnaaaaaaaa I want 49 million dollars"
He suspects the back was altered, if that's the case; it should be mentioned on the PSA holder it's in.
PSA wouldn't even slab an altered card.
Its says it on the sticker above the card.
@@diagnosedtopg7657 It is psa/dna (psa's category for signed cards), it's slabbed with the card simply stated as authentic; but not specifying altered. This is pretty normal for autographed cards, allowing the buyer to know it's a real card and auto; they can decide value based on eye appeal. This card would get $60k today possibly, when this episode aired it would get $5k without the auto (probably a lot more, $10k seems low.) Where it gets hairy is older signed reprints were often slabbed 'trading card' with no authentication (but nice looking) and the autograph was authenticated and graded. People complain about PSA 10 autos now, but back then on first glance it looks like it's a signed PSA 10 card and you have to know it's a reprint or a passable real one that would never make the 10 grade these days. Of course, most people that can afford a 10 card with 10 auto of anything iconic usually have enough brains to know it's "auto grade only."
So Mantel played from 1951 to 1969 ( 0:23) but he was a 20 time all star?(0:42) Which two years was he an all star when he wasn’t playing? History channel?
Card is worth way more now
I had everything from bubble gum free. Mantle Ruth you name it.
Also, the grade is for the autograph, not the card.
That's why he said 10k I mean if the signature was as bad as the card probably a 4k card
I love this show
cards probably x10 value now in the boom.
REALLY !!?? Passing 7k for just an auto on a trashed card....INSANE !!!
This aged horribly
Condition is everything 😊 back of card is trashed 😂
It’s already been graded by psa, it’s says “altered.” His “expert” was not needed in this situation.
first home run in the Astrodome
I was not there!!!!
Guy gets a free appraisal. Finds out someone trimmed part of the card off, thus making it below a "poor" condition rating of a 1. Thankfully for him, finds out it's still worth right around $10K. Gets offered $7K. Instead of haggling a bit at $8K.... asks for several thousands of dollars more than what the card is worth! I am so fed up with these absolutely delusional sellers!
A Signed Mickey Mantle. Jesus, that alone is worth what ever, never mind the card.
Fenway Park it’s not signed it a fake signature. All cards back in the 51 set has a replica signature of the player
Bas 2125 rewatch the video. In mint 40 to 60 thousand. The autograph was real, but the card rated below 1 for disrepair.
3? Try One Triple Crown! Amazing player though and one of the greatest!
Mantle only has 1 triple crown...
...but how many Kentucky Derbies has he won?
