Drum Cam footage performing, "Becoming" with the mighty VOLBEAT, filling in for Jon Larsen.
Michael let me play around with this one so I had some fun throwing a little SLAYER Post Mortem tom roll vibe before the outro and added double bass in the fast outro.
NOTE: I have NOT left TAMA or ZILDJIAN. This was an extremely unique and last minute situation. Since I was only performing 3 shows on 24 hours notice, the best decision was to perform on Jon Larsens drums. I worked with Pete (Jon's tech) to scale Jon's kit down to 2 rack toms and 2 floor toms to make it easier for him as he had to set the kit up left handed, or as I like to say...the correct way! Lol.
Jon's drums are miked internally. Changing to TAMA last minute would've required different mics and more adjusting sound and mixes for the FOH (Dennie) which there was no time for. Changing Cymbals would've also changed the sound.
So, that's why you see me on Jon's drums (only using 2 of his 6 rack toms) performing on his Pearl and Paistes.
Thank you Zildjian and Tama for your blessings and understanding.
Big THANK YOU to Pete Abdou for the video and taking care of me! I was in GREAT hands!!
Enjoy!
Dette has played with the best for decades. A true legend in drumming.
Absolute powerhouse performance.
Lol i thought it was becoming by pantera 😆😂
Excellent drumming as always 🔥
That’s what I was hoping for lol

Me too.
Dude, this is epic!!! Skills !! 💪🏼💪🏼
Stellar mate!
You’re a monster as always!!
Solid and in the pocket as always. You sit lower than I previously thought perhaps to get full weight of your legs into the pedals. That ride sounds fantastic.
Lamvardi sits same way. The lift with thighs lower leg and rip
Jon you are a machine \m/
Badass !!!👍👍🔥
***TERRIFICANTE***🤘🤘🤘🔝
Awesome
Like his style punky with the metal chops...sweet groove
Yup. Way closer to Lombardo than Bostaph ever was.
eres la caña!!!
Once a badass, Always a badass @jondette. You rock.
this is nothing compare to Danny Carrey from TOOL
@@BlueHopi144 thx boomer.
@LactoseTheIntolerant ok boomer….what do you know about what I do and don’t do? I’m a fan of Jon, Carey of Tool is a beast but he didn’t do this sub. So this is a great thing Dette does where all these Him Vs Him comparisons feels rather unnecessary.
00:56 makes my day
One of my favorite drummers.. such an Machine!!! Wish he would be in Testament right now 💪
Dave Lombardo is a much better drummer for testament
@@mattnapora2620 biggest understatement of the year!!!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏
🤘🏻
You should play in Mercuful Fate!!!
Southpaw/Beastpaw. And he grooves.
snare?
You ever hit ur camera by accident? Lol this was so bad azz
Jon, is it harder to do fill ins like this because you’re a lefty? Meaning that you’d have to bring your own kit instead of just sitting on the kit already there.
If you have a double bass drum pedal there must be no problem to play in a right-handed kit. You can do all your fills like Ringo in Come Together and play open-handed. Either way, Jon said you can practice skunk beats with both legs so, yeah. It's not impossible.
I think this is the volbeat kit but swapped around for john
@@kevvyd2128 Bingo. He reassured whoever he endorses that he hadn’t switched brands in another vid.
As a full blown lefty who's played gigs all over manhattan, it's a bitch. My band was constantly put on last due to the fact the sound engineer had to redo the Mike's on the toms, and I only had like 10 minutes to set up my cymbals and change the kit around
Tempos all over the place.
Sounds like you could have co wrote a few Diablus in musica songs
2:15-2:17 ?
Yeah it's called dropping a Drum Stick, then grabbing another lol, hopefully keeping it together, looks obvious doesn't it?
What happened to their normal drummer?
Jon replaced him for some shows as the regular drummer was sick.
The other normal drummer, Jon Larsen missed some shows because he was out with covid earlier this year.
🤕
nothing complicated here
Sure, but he's Jon Dette, and that simple track (compared to what he has touched) will be like butter for him... I hope the next songs he's involved in can add his nuances.
Doesn't have to be complicated to be good, that's like the most common rule that applies to all music
