Wow, the young Terfel in top form -- how the camera loves him! Dame Kiri also much looser and relaxed than she often is. Lovely blending of voices too in the ensemble singing.
Dame Kiri was in fact 52 in this clip. Her voice is clearly the best of the bunch. I love seeing Renee Fleming and Dame Kiri in the same number! They are my two favorites.
Leporello is probably one of Terfel's best roles. He's really well suited for Mozart. Wish he didn't go for Wotan later because he feels a bit underpowered there.
It may be just a scene. the point still stands though, about the costumes. Sad to see Jerry Hadley as Ottavio - this cant have been too long before he took his life.

Bravo...Renee pulls this through and gets it to heaven and back....twice. But then again, Renee is magnificent as always.

Why is Hong so much quieter than Fleming and Te Kanawa? Are the house mics not close enough to her? Seems a shame, she has a lovely voice.

This was 11 years before Jerry Hadley died. He committed suicide in 2007- this was 1996.
