- I'm not a big 2011 guy, in fact, before this review I wasn't even sure I'd ever buy one.
How'd my 6 months with a Tac 2 from Bull Armory change that.

“I just carry a gun and call it a day” damn how I wish I had this mindset but the marketing of the gun industry has me by the throat 🥺
Lol
Me too. Arguing in comment sections about pistol manufacturers is now a core part of my life. Walther for life.

Range gun should be gucci

If my gun can't handle a nice golden shower once in a while I don't want it
Garand Thumb said it best. For the Urban user, the 2011 is great. But if you go trapezing through the jungle or desert for battle, a modern striker fired pistol is what you want.
I can almost hear his voice saying it verbatim.
The mud test he did says otherwise 😂😂😂
It's not the fear of falling into a sand pit or dropping my gun while on the moon that keeps me from carrying a 1911/2011, its the massive amount of lint a gun collects if you actually carry it every day that worries me.
Lint... The silent killer.
This is legitimately the first time I see someone mention lint. I swear every time I check my 26 it has a dust bunny and it's entire family living in it. I can rest easy because I know it'll still work should I need it when there's lint build up I haven't blown out of it yet
I've been carrying the SAS II TAC 4.25 through the winter months and love it. The confidence it builds on the range translates to carry confidence, plus it's nice to draw a gun I can get my entire hand on.
Just got mine the other day and LOVING it
I have had the 5" model and changed the grip to a Staccato stippled one and it is amazing.
I kinda didn't love the original grip texture and being able to swap it out made me totally satisfied. that said, my original grip was different to the one he is showing, so maybe there would have been no need to change had I got that one.
mine is older because I got it pre-COVID.
oh yeah. mine is in 45ACP so maybe not that comparable exactly.... but I do love it.
Wow that LIGHT
@GBGuns has it been 100% reliable?
Wait...you're supposed to clean your carry gun? 😱
if it's a 2011, yes.
If it's a Glock no, it's like a cast iron pan, gotta leave the seasoning on there
Yes. When you fire it all the dust comes off and now it's clean.
only clean for the flex on the socials
Are you supposed to wash your underoos? No.
Most of the guys who tell you to "suck it up" on the weight issue might be those guys who don't do a lot of walking or moving around. I do morning walk and jog. In the summer time I don't even strap my G19 on me. When it's summer the temp is already 70 to 79 around 7 AM and 8 AM roll around it's already 81 to 85 you can feel the weight start to take a toll on you. Guess what? I live in the suburbs. This is why I switch my carry rotation according to the season or temperature.
You wrote all that just to flex that you exercise
@@DinoNucciThat's not the point dude. I assume that's how your brain IQ interpret my comment? I guess by your comment my low IQ brain interpret that you don't exercise.
In Texas I run full sized and compact also the 365 macro. Last year we had 100 days of over 100. It was hot you do need to be careful of hot spots still carrier full sized most about 30% of the time then compact. I am active between 12K and 17k steps per day. Heat doesn’t bother me that much. But if you need to carry a 365 or 365 xl. Then that’s what ya gotta do.
I think humans can adjust to most things. if you carry a full-sized all the time you will eventually get used to it. How long it takes depends on the person
that said, why torture yourself until you do?
🤷♂
@Floridaman855 what I mean is that even if you will get used to it eventually, that is not reason to not choose something else that works for you right away if you can find it.
if you really want to then you just gut it out.
whichever way works for you.
Humble Marksman is a great channel for 2011 reviews as well
I forgot to mention him, but he's excellent. Really knows his stuff.
He's a Bul man. I love his reviews! He's also honest with his reviews.
I like the way this young man reviews guns, optics, and other gun-related gear. He comes across as being honest and genuine about his opinions. I also enjoy the guys on the 1911 syndicate channel neither of these channels pretend or claim to be something their not. Just because they aren't former high-speed, low-drag operators doesn't mean their opinions don't matter Brass Facts and Hop are skilled shooters, just as the hombres over on the 1911 syndicate are.
The crossover of hardcore Glock guys who are also big 2011 guys is surprising to me.
When you drive a Camry all day, every day it must be nice to swap it for the Mustang.
comparison seems more apt with a bmw M5. Sure it's faster, but it's more expensive, requires more maintenance, and can be a bit embarrassing to be seen with
Also; Good dog, Nova
Something to remember is when Browning designed the 1911, the TDP was based upon the much less precise machining capabilities of the day. Were parts hand fit? Yes, but military 1911's had much looser tolerances compared to the precisely machined "1911's" of today. The loose fit was part of the design and was in large part the reason for it's reliability during military trials in which the 1911 went 5000 rounds without a stoppage. Tight tolerance does not equal reliability, but precision lockup and more sensitivity to fouling of any kind. Everything is a trade-off.
Would love to see some evidence for this
@realfnneato3111 of course. Because every comment on the internet that challenges an individual's perception of reality must be accompanied by a bibliography of cited peer reviewed documentation. The proof you seek is in the historical archives regarding the military pistol trials that began in 1907 and ended in 1910 with the formal adoption of Browning's submissions of pistol and cartridge taking place in 1911. You can see the competitor submissions and their performances as well.
@@TheMinutemanArmory i don't ask for that I asked for a shred of evidence, but as long as you are jerking your anecdotal willy and opining about how shit was just better in the old day without giving even a suggestion of connection to a place or a person in reality.
@@realfnneato3111you can look up the original testing. I’m not sure that the guns were that much looser or if it was just a fact that there was only one mfg so the control was just better.
I have 6500 rounds on my staccato P. I’ve cleaned it 5 times with no malfunctions. I do clean the mags more than I would ever clean striker fired mags. I shoot outside in a hot, humid, and sandy range. Ymmv.
I like that your channel is still down here on earth and hasn't blown up and been disconnected from regular people. I'm new within the past month or 2.
Thanks, brass facts. You have always been real and informative.
It’s nice to see this video after the comments you made on the P&S modcast about this concept. I wanted to find some more out. I definitely can’t wait for the 2011 concept video. It’s a topic not often discussed and answers the “why 2011” question. I doubt I have the skill to justify such a purchase. I need to practice with my G19 more.
Excited to watch this video on a topic I don't care about. Brass fact brings the entertainment for my work grind!
The 2011 are great if you have money to spend. For me, I can shoot great with a $600 polymer striker that's as reliable as you can get. That leaves me a lot of money for ammunition. I carry a ccw at least 8 hours a day. Weight matters for me.
With the focus on weight today, I think it's safe to say that these have been some Mass Facts.
Super glad to see your getting stuff sent to you! And even better youll be able to keep it. You and Hop are the new school nutnfancy project. Love your guys videos. Hops modern AK video was hilarious. Keep em coming!

This is one of the best videos I have seen talking about a 2011 and what its strengths are vs its weaknesses. Good job brass facts! If i were getting a 2011, Bul would be my top choice however since I am not very good at maintaining guns am gonna pass on 2011s for now.
Brassfacts Friday 🎉🎉🎉
Good Video, you Lunatic. I just dipped my toe into the 2011 world, I got a Staccato. I like it and have had no issues. But I am used to 1911s so I am used to the maintenance on one. Going from a Glock where you have to clean it once a year or maybe two, it takes getting used to. I was originally looking for a Bul Armory, but like you said, they ain't around. Good to see you branching out. We only got a small glimpse of Nova, MORE NOVA!!! Get on it!
2011s are neat and all but blah blah.. but what are Hop's thoughts on the cat from the south that says "well hi" ?

*Actually watching on lunch break*
Lunch break gang unite
After lunch break. Poop break.
The one time I actually had to use my CCW pistol, it was preceded by me falling on my back into a bunch of moon dust.
When inspecting my G42 afterwards, it was absolutely covered in dust. I’d been sweating, and that sweat attracted a bunch of crap.
Still, the Glock functioned (the other issue was that I landed on a rock, and that rock pushed my rear sight far out of alignment.
“Bro…your carry gun should be clean.” SSSShhhhhh with that! My main carry is sitting here and almost heard you!!!
Regarding the comments about all the issues… you’re not wrong. Specifically when people ask me about 1911s versus whatever striker variant, I tell them to go for the striker. Carrying a 1911/2011/DS1911 as a carry gun is akin to choosing to run a classic car everyday as opposed to a Camry or Accord. You CAN do it, but it requires a level of work and maintenance most people aren’t willing to do. Wilson Combat for instance tells you to clean their guns after 500 rounds and once a month if you’re carrying (even if you don’t fire the gun), with a complete teardown once a year. None of my Glocks require this level of tediousness. I still prefer to carry my Wilson more than anything else.
I spent a few years working 12 hour shifts where I carried AIWB and ended up with nerve damage in my groin that made my right nut ache and I couldn’t move my leg out to the side. It took like 8 months of never carrying a gun before I got back to “normal.”
From a 1911 fan, i think you gave a good fair analysis. Good video
Excited for this review. This could be a Part 2 of the Roland Special vid, I remember you mentioning that the new hotness for more capability in a carry gun was the 2011. Anyway, question: do you think there will ever be a time between concealed carrying a handgun and taking a rifle around that looks like people open carrying handguns? Curious on your thoughts.
they'll be a more directed video talking about the performance of these types of guns in general soon
Open carry is a comfort thing unless it's a REALLY big gun. I'd personally default to concealed carry even when things are pretty bad
If it's an election year, it's a happening year, and the other three are up in the air. That being said, we aren't dropping into Tom Clancy's The Division when we wake up every day. Most people aren't really bloodthirsty savages out for your meat. The lights are on, and you've still gotta get up for work in the morning. If there's riots in your town, consider a pistol form-factor PDW a la BF and Hop's earlier videos on the Flux, and carry it with some extended mags and a trauma kit in a get home bag. Otherwise, it's not necessarily the move; any additional bulk usually just pegs you as the guy who gets clocked instantly by LEOs and other CCers. Just stick with your CC and backup mag, and maybe a very small trauma kit if you're looking to patch holes, and it should take care of most day-to-day what-ifs.
Fun video Brass ... neat gun, isn't there one 2011 patter that runs Glock mags? You ever consider doing a video on one of the LTT H&K P30's? I feel like those would be a lot of fun
1:08 He knows Admin didnt post and all the boys are gonna be here
Hey Brass. Whats ear pro your running? Looks like a small electronic style? Do you like them? Also you had a grey quarter zip in a lot of the footage. It has a chest pocket. Who makes that? Thanks! Another great review
Was not expecting this, honestly it would be interesting to see a vid from you about use case of pistols in general, most of your b roll from other vids dont even have a pistol equipped.
Pistols don't have much of a use case outside of concealed carry unless you open carry for your job or something. Pistols don't even really have a military use for the most part.
@@poip202wrong
If im running no kit, I'm probably carrying a concealed pistol.
If I'm running full kit I'm probably not going to run a pistol. Just my choice. I'd rather that weight be extra ammo for the rifle, no weight, or sustainment gear depending on circumstance.
Good to know they plan to carry other optics cuts in the future. And OOS right now.
Watching this b4 I go to work…. Time well spent 😊
Great video, perfect for the lunch break
Hop sent me those same socks (at 9:02) when I bought his Arisaka Light off TacSwap.
Cool.
I like this style compared to talking over role footage the entire time, good stuff man
Watching the ftf at 4:02 tells me thanks but no thanks to a gun at this price range... So THANK YOU for the review my friend. Very informative, and all I had to do was watch 4 min of video.
2011s are that high maintenance 10/10 chick you can typically only dream about. For me personally...I want that 6/10 I can neglect and they just keep coming back for more.
Thanks for another great video!
I haven't had any issues with my Staccato P yet. I've been shooting it in USPSA and training quite a bit since I picked it up in March '23. It did go over 3k rounds at one point with no cleaning, and it was quite disgusting inside. I also dropped it in the sandy dirt, slide locked back, no mag inserted, in my orchard in an attempt to force a malfunction. The sand and debris were caked on the barrel and both sides of the gun. Inserted the mag and fired 15 or so rounds without a hiccup. I found it appalling that it made it through that with no issues, but it kept chugging along a week later at the next pistol match. I finally cleaned it in January this year 😂
I don't think the pistol is infallible. I do find that dirt, sand, and small rocks can wreck the magazines in a hurry. Thankfully, they're very easy to take apart and clean.
The back drop on that first clip is awesome dude gun looks good too..was looking at this one but decided to stretch out for the OA DEFENSE COMBAT PRO...BUL LOOKS GOOD...
thank god i dont have to think about 2011s ever again
I am in fact bored on my lunch, thanks for posting in time
Good video man....but I just love that Tac 4.25!
thanks man, it's a great gun
Called it. 100% watching on lunch break
100% agree about the precision of guns vs shooters. I’ve found in bench vices that every 9mm gun pretty much shoots between 8-10 moa at 100 yards(revolvers actually do the best). I think the difference is recoil control on follow up shots. Factors that matter the most seem to be grip/compensation/weight. For conceal carry personal defense that generally means finding the guns that YOU grip the best. Compensated guns are concussive without ear and eye pro, and obviously carry a heavy weight isnt great for CCW.
I have a P226 Legion SAO. Scratches my 2011 itch while maintaining reliability.
You should try the SS DR920P . Weighs less than a stock G17 but shoots super soft put a Timney trigger and polished the internals and that thing breaks under 3lbs . Stupid fast and accurate
Glad to see I wasn’t the only one literally watching on my lunch break..
CZ shadow 2 blue are going for 1k and they’ve been out for so long at the aftermarkets caught up with them
Hello, I also have a Bul, and I dropped mags into sand. Is there an easy to get the sand out of the lower without full disassembly of the lower? Or, did you have to take the lower completely apart to do full cleaning every time?
Excellent video! Now do that Platypus. I guarantee that when comparing it to other 2011’s, you’ll be impressed by the reliability. Everybody thinks the big advantage is the customization, and cheap mags, but the Glock mags made it a SIGNIFICANTLY more reliable platform, and this is speaking from someone with 1911’s, that uses a Glock 19 for my work truck.
Yes, because the 2011 mags are the root of all evil. Get rid of those and it gets significantly better. If it were up to me, I would remove the grip safety as well, in order to remove another classic failure point. At that point you're left only with the weird and fragile 1911 sear spring, but that's the price you pay for the nice trigger, so you have to live with it.
@@jeffersondaviszombie2734 Atlas gun works made a video exactly about 2011 mags, why they have issues and how to avoid them them within like, the last teo months
@@jeffersondaviszombie2734
Well, the grip safety serves as an extra drop safety and honestly I don’t think modifying the design too far is a good idea.
I realized you carry IWB strong side. Do you have any holster recommendations?
A good comparison for reliability, would be stacatto c2, this 4.25 bull, and the new cz shadow 2 compact. I think the shadow 2 compact is going to really shine here.
Good watch after a range day and while eating at the desk :)
I am watching during my lunch break
Nice review. Its ok have stuff that's just fun to shoot. especially if you already have handful glocks.
The M&P EZ and Equlizer have that single action trigger while not being particularly finicky in my experience. I'd highly recommend them for new shooters who like a good single agtion trigger on their carry pistol.
When are we gonna get you a Beretta
probably going to be awhile.
What do you think of the platypus that takes glock mags? I really want that thing to start an industry trend toward affordable, non-proprietary mag adoption.
Don't care
It's a mediocre gun (1911), that takes, quite frankly, mediocre (but at least cheap) mags.
From my understanding it's not even particularly improved apon vs the 1911, having carry overs like the sub optimal takedown.
Brock we need to get you onto Berettas. Really feels like the best of both worlds between shootability and reliability
I love my 92, but I don't know if it'd fit him. He lives in a desert with fine sand, which loves to get into the locking channels. Open top slide makes for pleasant shooting and easy manipulation, but also debris ingress. You COULD say "just get the M9A4 and clean it more" but that seems more like forcing the issue with unnecessary amounts of labor and material until the proposed solution works only partly as well as the original solution. I think he honestly is better served in his environment with his Glonk-brand Glonk.
My lunch just got a whole lot better! Would be awesome if you get your hands on a LTT Beretta as a little comparison to the 2011 craze. I think they scratch the same itch and are a way better value.
Have a Stac P, have shot thousands of rounds with zero malfunctions. I do clean it almost every time I shoot it. If you have a 2011 and spend that kind of $ you will want it clean and easy to go
I’ve watched 1911 syndicate video on 2011s and his break down on difference in pricing and quality. These people know little to nothing about machining, manufacturing, and give very bad information on what is considered quality. For example he’s saying something like machined parts are stronger than forged parts (some nonsense similar to this). From my experience that’s not the case; forged metals have stronger grain formations than milled… similar to how 3d printed plastics are not as strong as injection molded. Sorry for the long speech here just wanted to give some info
But they're on the Internet
He's talking about MIM parts dude. Metal injected molding. As a general statement, Jake is not wrong about that
You realize you can take a FORGED wait for it BILLET, and wait for it MACHINE IT…
Understanding what the buzzwords mean helps a lot and most I don’t think do…
Billet can work with much smaller tolerances. Also injection molding is basically like casting but I get where you're going
I'm a full time machinist and can tell you that the general rule is Forged>Billet>Cast this is predicated upon the idea that the forging and post processing is done correctly. The grain of a forged part is in line with the forging giving the extra strength in line. Billet has a straight grain and is strong across this grain. Cast has no macro grain structure.
Can't wait to get a 2011 one day. Though I just got a Shadow 2 OR so I need to spend some time enjoying that first lol.
You commented just to flex your purchase
I won’t even look at guns heavier than 20 ounces unloaded for carry anymore. 365 spectre comp has been that gun for 18 months now. I do have a few 2011’s for the range though. My favorite platform
While technically striker fired handguns are less susceptible to getting dirty (due to their enclosed firing pin) when the barrel locking lugs get dirty that has nothing to do with Hammer fired guns. The SIG 220 series locking style is what allows for simpler and cleaner locking (at a minute cost to locking consistency for precision purposes)
What abot metal cramed hammer CZ guns ? Let's say, Shadow 2/compact. Is it better nalance of shootability/accuracy vs. reliability. ?
I wonder if the 1911/2011 platform will always run into cleaning issues around 500 when it is chambered in 9mm compared to a 1911 in 45. The 9mm just doesn't have the strength to push the slide through the grime.
How much fatter is the double stack 2011 grip than a standard 1911 in .45? On a scale of Glock 43x/48 to Glock 19 to Glock 17, where would you compare the grip width of the 2011?
Also, what happened with the chips? Glad to see my split times on my 226 Legion is in the ballpark of a Stuc.
Random Question, Where did yall go in Salt Lake City to have your SBR Engraved?
I found that the shadow systems was lighter than a gen 5 Glock if you are interested in weight. The one with a mr920 with a fluted barrel.
As much as I love Hops videos, I don't think I'd enjoy hanging out with him and letting him show me cat videos 😅
So how close do guns like PDP steel frame, P226 SOA or like Langdon tactical 92, P30 stack up against a 2011? They're all much cheaper than 2011s and offer much more shootability than standard off the shelf handguns but are much more reliable than the 2011
I've got their early version of the Tac2 and I've never had the gun have issues feeding or firing. I've had ammo problems though.
I'm recovering from a 2-year fling with a couple of Staccato C2s Nice guns, very good shooters, but they're right on the outer limit of what I can conceal in normal clothes. Also, I've found that the huge beavertail isn't really compatible with below-the-belt carry.
I compete with a 2011, and a custom, handmade by a gunsmith one. I need to agree on the flaws of the platform. Mags are a single stack .45 thing that had to be turned into a double stack 9mm thing, not the recipe for success, less so on the Bul mags but still. This guns are performance machines that’ll really let you know I far you can go with a pistol, or how much you suck and leave you no excuses, but need to be kept clean, even more than other competition guns. I shoot mine an average of 200 rounds at a time, up to 400 for big matches, so the cleaning is tolerable, but it definitely something you need to work into your routine if you choose to carry something like this. Also, with these guns they should include a magazine brush, it goes such a long way in keeping dirt out of the gun (ultra race gun shooters clean their mags every time they touch the ground…).
Loved the video and the conclusions though, thanks for your work!
Yay! Just in time for break!
Yes I am watching this while I'm bored on lunch break... Always a good time when brass balls talks shit about everything

Happy enough with striker fire that have better triggers like ppq, vp9 etc. dont need something super expensive because the base BUL here costs what my gun plus its optic costs

Small guns make me nervous.
I would really love to see how something like a CZ Shadow 2 compact would fair in the same conditions!

You could get this or a Langdon Tactical Beretta for roughly the same price. The Langdon Beretta with an RMR and an X300 is cooler to me. Trigger is nicer, recoil is super light, and it's far more reliable. Plus I think it looks cooler.
What are you using as background music at the beginning of your videos
I recently got into a Prodigy...it's been an interesting journey. Today was the first painful day, I was working with a coworker to fit some Atlas safeties, and ended up taking off slightly more than we intended...he was kind enough to cover the cost for a replacement as he felt it was his mistake. I, will be picking him up a gift at some point to help make up for putting him in the position in the first place (might not even install the replacement).
PS. For those wondering, my coworker has taken 1911 armorer courses, he has fitted safeties for Nighthawks, Wilsons, etc...this was the first time he has ever slipped up.
I've only fitted one 1911 (my own). The safety fitting was a nerve wracking experience.
