Tiny Display Case | Solid Ash

  • I made a small display case from solid ash and acrylic glass. Except for the initial milling, for this project I only used the table saw.
    The trickiest part was cutting the grooves the glass would fit into. The blade's kerf was 2.4 mm and it produced a very good fit - not too tight, not too lose - to the 2 mm thick acrylic.
    Handling such small pieces on the table saw was not easy, nor particularly safe, but I got perfect results using a pushblock.
    I finished the case with homemade pastewax (1:1 mineral oil and beeswax).

    Wonder if the same technique would work for a larger case?

      I think it would work. Maybe use thicker acrylic glass and widen the grooves accordingly. You should also increase the cross section of the wooden edges and reinforce the joints with splines.
