    A boat house for the ages, and certainly worth it! I would never have thought to spend a half hour watching you build a box could be so engrossing. It's got to be the hands!

    Dear Olha,
    Thank you very much for your very inspiring tutorial of building a display case for once favorite built model, which was actually way overdue on any Model scale builers website.. While building my model (Amati HMS Bounty) I always had and still had the worries in my mind on how to display it in a professional Display. YOU just solved my problem. I guess, I now can sleep better at night and .."worry about other obsticles in the world of model building down the road.
    Thank you very much again for your input and participation in the wonderful world of model building.
    This comes frome a Newbee who appreciates any help he can possibly get.
    God bless!!

      Thank you very much!
      It's simple, if you need to show off a wooden model at its best, then use stone, metal, anything to contrast the materials and texture...

    Very insightful, very relaxing and the music was also very fitting :)
    The display is a great match to the style used at the time the shallop was built.

    Outstanding! A few days in the making, a lot of labour cutting, sanding, etc., and yet you make it look so easy. Thanks for posting.

    That was again absolutely amazing to watch you work Olha !! I do love the way you made the vertical pillars in one piece, just brilliant. This is a hell of a display case, and it is just stunning and perfect, like all you do! I every time admire your skills and how you make things that turn out amazing and your attention to detail !!

    Thanks for your reply. After rummaging around on th internet I think it's called an Open Mortise And Tenon joint. Not that it really matters. Just FYI.

    Could you please furnish the width and thickness of the pieces of wood. Very good tutorial.

      It was pure improvisation from scraps that were at hand and some molds bought at a hardware store.

    Very thoughtfully designed and cut and assembled Olha. Very inspiring. Did you use 3/4" stock wood?

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  8 місяців тому

      It's hard to say now because I used all the scraps from previous projects. I cut the board 3/4 thickness or a little less, and the vertical pieces from 1'x1' slats...

    Hi Olha... great video on the showcase. I just made a showcase for my HMS Victory. I'm surprise you didn't use picture frame strapes for the showcase. Anyway it looks awesome.

      You can use anything that will emphasize your model! I prefer the contrast of the material as well as the color. How to demonstrate a wooden model on a wooden background? It will be difficult to separate them. That's why I prefer metal, stone (even if it's imitation), and finally paint - it adds contrast in texture and materials...
      Of course, except for cases when the display case should match the color of the interior)))

    For the tablesaw, getting an add-on scrollsaw air blower (or just the aquarium air pump such actually are) can help keep the dust away (or headed to dust collection).
    Last time I saw a copy of the Times was when I had to fly into Hartford to get to a Boston construction project, as all the Boston flights were full. Memories.

      I vacuum every time after using the saw...
      I just paid attention to what newspaper I used))))

    Hello Ms. Batchvarov, I want your opinion on plexiglass for the following: Plexiglass gives off a gas that acts as electrolysis acts on a real vessel, and it disintegrates all of the soft metal hardware on the model over time, reducing it to dust. Is true? Is there any reliable brand such as Plexiglass or Lexan? Thank you, kisses to your kitty!

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  Рік тому +1

      That's why I use real glass. You can find it in galleries that make picture and photo frames. Because in a few years, plexiglass will turn into a scratched and cloudy, sometimes deformed object, which simply makes the model look cheap. The larger the plastic display case, the faster it will turn into trash...

    Here's a little tip if you want to do it. When making marks on wood with a pencil use tape then mark where you want to drill.
    So you don't really have to do a lot of sanding to get rid of the pencil marks. Maybe I press to hard with the pencil but thats what I do. LOL

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  Рік тому

      You do everything like a professional carpenter!
      I just knew I was going to paint this frame, so I didn't worry about pencil marks at all...

      We are all different in taste and color! I have white furniture in the living room, so this display case is an extension of the console table. It looks like 17th century display case, just what I wanted!
