  • I often cover florist paper-covered wires with thread in order to create a 3-dimensional effect, for example, when making horns for sheep, tendrils or stems for flowers. This short demo shows how it is done. You will need fine wire, embroidery thread, glue and a little bit of patience for this fiddly yet therapeutic technique.

What a great tutorial! I made my sheep horns with wire and tiny seed beads, which gave a cute result. Appreciate another method, thank you!

Although I own hundreds of books, I'm a visual learner so this is very very helpful. Thank you

Yes, I agree - most people prefer to watch a demo rather than try and work from a book so happy it is useful :-)

@@lornabateman7002 Once I see it done and practice it, the book is helpful then but I do prefer to learn from watching someone.

Thankyou . Do you feed the end of thewire into cloth and let it blend in or cut off and secure on linen?

Hi Lorraine - sorry somehow I missed this so huge apologies! Create a hole in the fabric using an awl, mellor or toothpick. Feed the wire through and bend it back behind your stitching. Whip or catch into place. Hope that helps. Enjoy stitching. Lx💖
