It might be a pretty interesting game with some unique mechanics, but the characters are insufferable, which is sort of a deal breaker for a game that's all about talking and relationships.

This "game" was funded by the EU and Canadian governments. If you needed an explanation as to why this is a game for nobody.
They got 200k euros from the norway goverment, can't find the EU or canadian grants. Either way, someone who is not the goverment have a hole in their pocket between 500k and 1M.
Edit: Found the EU grant 150k, so 350k total so far.

There is no EU government, Europe is not a state. European countries have governments, the EU has a commission to make this kind of decisions. The devs applied to get financial aid for EU funds (which is money from every EU country) and somehow they got 150k, which probably covered the salary of a single dev for 1 year. Many other projects get some help the same way. The EU didn't commission the game, nor is seeking any profits from it.

Just like Goodbye Volcano High, the only potential this game has is to become a satirical mod made precisely by the people hated by the devs.
A game is where you play in an environment that is different from your everyday life. If in the game you only find things that are exactly the same as what you experience daily, why would you buy the game? It would definitely be boring.
Its a real acomplishment to come out the gate with less of an audience than suicide squad bravo
