I now own two sxs, one is a real gem from deepest darkest Communist Soviet Russia that is comfortably over 70 years old and it's a truly beautiful piece of handmade art. There's something so amazing about sxs that's always drawn me more than o/u and I'm happy to see classic still never goes out of style.
I totally agree with the pressure thing, I don’t shot as well with my s/s but I just don’t care and that just seems to mean I have more fun with it 😂.
I own a sovereign an worth every penny infact they are now £5250 which is still great quality for the buck !! Side by side only for me , father taught me how to shoot don’t miss to many ! Thanks for a great review 🔥

Beautiful..... If only I had 10k to play with down here in Melbourne. Big fan of the channel, would love to see a review on any of the old(ish) Merkel SxS having just lashed out a whopping 350 quid on a lovely if basic Model 8. Keep up the great work TGS team
Yup, love the guns and the channel... Just wish I had more $$ to play with... and be able to say "only" $8k CDN, and for "only" $1K you can have it fitted.
William Powell has an importer they work with in the US, if anyone likes the name enough to pay for the importation fees. I like fixed chokes on a SxS, so the off-the-shelf Rizzinis in the US turn me off a little.
William Powell is my dads name, I’m tempted to buy one just for that provenance and to start a family heirloom. I just need to find a way to get 6k to buy this 🤦🏻♂️
My grandmother was a Powell. So my interest is piqued, as well.
Another addition to the list of guns to buy if I ever win the lottery.
Over and under owners love there guns, but I just don’t see the attraction. I own 5 side by sides and they are a joy to shoot. 12, two 20s and two 16 gauge . Newer and quite old.
It just feels like the English did the same with Lotus. When i purchase a shotgun, i like it to come from the maker. Where these are, again, made by someone else, with someone elses name branded on it.
It's almost a the same as my Rizzini br552
JC, with regards to the emphasis on side by side guns, consider: were you in a grouse butt, and given the option, a pair of some 30" over and under or a pair of say Aya twenty five's which would you choose? thanks

Beautiful video as usual. Have you ever tested a Bernardelli Roma 4 or Roma 6 with the bigger forearm? Beautiful gun, I used it back in the day back in Italy.

Wood-to-metal fit is certainly much better than almost all of the other new guns you've shown us.
Very nice but the absence of a trigger guard extension is a bad oversight. Makes the whole just "not right".
So when is the video of the driven day coming out?
Well if it makes you feel any better, I'm glad you guys were not along to see me totally forget how to shoot a SxS halfway through the walked up hunt with Chris and Steve. 🙈

Excellent video! A different feel to your first review of the Sovereign (at least your initial impressions) for sure. So it's not an ecoboost fiesta compared to a Mustang (Viscount)? Now that you've had time to think about it, Would you say it is a better value than the Viscount a year after first reviewing?

It’s great value for sure. I still think the viscount is much sweeter, but it’s a very different price point

Just wondering why I don't have a side by side in my cabinet?
Not convinced for £6,000. The trigger guard, other than being short, looks off. Too round perhaps? The triggers themselves look strange too. They look too big. Maybe it's because they're blacked.
Would have been nice if they stocked it to the fences. Nevertheless, using modern materials and engineering I am sure this gun will last lifetimes if cared for properly.
This is the way we're going to have to go if we want to shoot the same birds. Great stuff.
I kinda get why fancy guns are so popular across the pond. Id never spend 5-10 grand on a single gun in the US because one would most likely wanna spend that over several guns given our vastly larger selection of possible guns to buy. Since a double barrel is about the only thing you can own, i can see how you'd want a nice one.

Well it's not the ONLY type gun UK folks can own.
Pretty much all of the traditional manually operated rifles, shotguns and rimfire semi-autos are all obtainable via the appropriate certificate.
Rather shotguns are the much simpler to obtain. A Shotgun Certificate is much easier as I understand. Which isn't all that surprising, the UK was and still is a shotgun culture to begin with.
