  • Got some OK work done today on the 300D
New hood pad installed 👍 Pretty happy with how that turned out
Started tackling the front brakes. Lots of learning happening as I go 😅. There will be a few more brake updates before this thing is back in good shape

I suspect the flexible hose is really the wrong part number for that caliper. (the "nose" of it has bottomed in the caliper body, or something has gotten jammed in the threaded portion) It Will Not hold pressure the way it is now, the brake fluid will simply come up the threads and leak. (which leads to mushy pedal, and collecting some road furniture or somebody else's tail light fragments on your front bumper) There should be such a tight seal at the hex-nut part to the caliper that there is often a copper crush washer interposed on some models. Double check the hose and caliper part numbers. (Hey, some day you'll let your wife drive this and you don't want to gift her with the "Press-N-Pray" braking experience.)

I wasn't sure if it was the right part number either- but after doing the passenger side and checking more - it looks to be correct. I posted an update video (latest one) where I compare the two side-by-side. The replacement is longer by a number of threads. With what I installed, the line is definitely in there good... Whoever has to remove it next is in for a treat 😂 Braking seems to be working great - I'll keep checking (inspecting for leaks, etc).
