ITS A CON! Enough of these DIRTY GAMES! Swatch make Rolex look like angels with Blancpain Collab

- Covering the new launch of the Blancpain x Swatch collaboration but not quite like any other video on youtube, free of the hype and bull I look at what this means for collectors and strongly advise to not bother queuing for one in vain on Saturday 9th September.
Once again 18 months on from the Moonswatch craze the Swatch group tease us with another irresistible plastic watch, shrouded in a nuclear storm of hype...manufactured hype, false hype just like the typical Rolex games we're used to, hype created to invade and dominate social media, inciting the playstation and prime energy drink flipping group of bottom feeders to get out of bed throw their grey joggers on and camp overnight for a brand they’ve never even heard of! It madness.
To those hopeful, real enthusiasts amongst us, I know its tempting but I beg of you don’t throw away your Saturday morning in vain, you wont get one!

I suppose that as long as people line up for Swatch collabs with Omega and now Blancpain, the Swatch Group will continue to do these launches. I think the Swatch brand was created to reach non-collectors looking for a fun, inexpensive watch, so the strategy is working. If these young people then start to buy other Swatch Group brands when they have more disposable income, then their strategy will pay off in the long term.
Flying to Canada and hopefully they have it in Montreal release day. Love the bathy as a child, got it as an adult, picking this up for my kid
Very best of luck with it! thanks for watching
Would people wait in the rain if the watches were £5 or £10 k
Great rant,Vinny.
Pardon me,but I wouldn't give Swatch the steam off my piss. Cheers 🍻!
Hahaha Cheers! thanks for watching mate
The times of queuing for a Blancpain x Swatch are thankfully finally coming to an end.
I waltzed into a Swatch Shop yesterday and could freely chose between all 5 models (took the “Atlantic Ocean“).
But the build quality doesn’t look good indeed - meaning the watches simply look cheap. I bought one anyway as an item of a stunning marketing campaign (which will probably be studied for decades to come).
Another money grab. That's all it is.
What does Daniel Craig have to do with you wanting a Moonswatch?
He was pictured wearing the Neptune blue moonswatch soon after launch
390 euros for a watch which cannot be repaired ? Nope ... I prefer getting a good Seiko ..
Why not both?
Two channels I was waiting to drop there opinions 😂Vinny and Fedrico, they never disappoint 😂😂
Hahaha what a legend he is! humbled to be mentioned in the same breath as him, watched for many years, cheers man
@@vinnyfrancis keep it up broski 👊🏾
If bp continues to rely on it's niche enthusiasts market it will die. 99% of these co called experts will rant, whine, talk, discuss, argue, debate for 5yrs then rant about price increases then go back to research then say "i would have bought 1 but"
....you know the drill.
Bp needs non watch enthusiasts to survive and be viable, hence the exposure needed.
You're too full of yourself.
As the Swatch company owns blancpain maybe they are bringing new customers to a watch they have never heard of.
I found this collaboration quite beneath Blancpain.
Well, money is money though.
Well I’m probably one of the few here that actually owns a Blancpain. I’ve got the fifty fathoms in rose gold, it’s a terrific watch. However they are expensive..
this allows anyone to enjoy some of the pleasure of a blancpain!
wow congrats that’s a killer piece !
Not only do I not want this, but I may choose against a Blancpain all together
Mate u didn't say how dog bull the watch is. Your actually making out the watch (swatchxomega or swatch fifty) seem good. They both aren't good.
hi, I’ve not had hands on yet so tough for me to say that but for the price comparably with other options the specs are not great, the Hamilton khaki field can be picked up for not a lot more and that’s another league
I disagree. I think Rolex is the king of hype right next to AP.
£500 plastic Breguet next?
I can definitely see that a Breguet Marine happening next year!
If you camp over night, then at some point in the morning, before anyone related to Swatch turns up, the scalpers will remove you using violence. That’s what happened in London to some people last time
wow i have not heard of this, not worth it at all
These scalpers are pathetic !
Well said Vinny 👏🏻
Thanks for watching mate
Actually the real Blancpain went bankrupt during the quartz crisis. All that was left was the brand name and a box of drawings that Biver bought for 20 thousand Swiss francs from Omega when he relaunched the brand.
Correct! That's why bp needs to expand its market beyond the niche so called watch enthusiasts who will debate, research, whine, rant then rant again then after 5 yrs complain about new prices and say "i would have bought 1 but"...
What brand can survive relying on watch enthusiasts like these?
It's good for bp to get much needed exposure. And the 400usd entry point is correct, Bec you want the target demographics to be the one that's able to afford the real BP's.
JC Biver bought it for 20-30k usd with some friends. Bp was just a name no operations. It was dead...they also coined the phrase "there never was a quartz bp and there never will be"
Awful yet brilliant move by Swatch and yes you can swap out the movement...
yes it can be swapped as the caseback is removable but very few watchmakers will service it
I have no interest in queuing up for a plastic toy watch 😂 ... the hype will die down just like the Moonswatch available everywhere so might as well just wait
The Vegas store has done things right. But what I've seen elsewhere is sickening.
big queue?
How?
You're really upset. Supply & demand. Are you new?
Hi videos going back 18 months, check out the rest of the channel thanks !
Anybody who say I haven’t watch collector or enthusiast knows the brand and yes, knows about the 50 fathoms. Anybody who is the Washington easiest and the collector of watches also knows that this is a plastic piece of crap!
Yes Vinny, you tell ‘em 😀 more plastic rubbish!!!
Absolutely hahaha it’s all a bit silly isn’t it!
I’ve sometimes wanted a real Blancpain, so I will not be buying a plastic one. They are a bit of fun, but tacky really.
People forget that is not an obligation to buy it. People are actually able to decide how to spend their money. The worth of things is up to people's perspectives, how much they are willing to pay, not about the real cost, quality and utility.
The Moonswatch is a cheap piece of plastic crap, and I can't believe you actually wanted one. The Blancpain is just another piece of plastic crap, and I wouldn't go near one. Swatch are systematically destroying the brands they own for a short term profit.
These collaboration Swatches are doing a lot. But destroying the Omega and/or Blancpain brands certainly not.
Plastic watch for palstic people dont spend your hard. Earned money on this crap
Hahaha it’s Bioceramic they say! how dare you
@@vinnyfrancis biocrap
I'm sick this all ready. As has been said the people who will buy it probably won't have heard of them..
Definitely an heirloom watch! 😂 you can’t service that movement.
Hahaha exactly! it’s disposable after a few years so cannot possibly be an investment!
All watches are hyped by manufacturers. Grey market dealers need it so 😂
For £350 you can get a Seiko Monster with a fancy Save The Ocean Dial and the decent 4R35 movement. Unfortunately it doesnt have the same hype train..
That’s a very cool piece man, great suggestion!
But what if you have already a Seiko Monster?
I think Public Enemy said it the best... 'don't believe the hype'. I'm quite happy with my Rolex 1601 / 1967 Datejust.
Their cool....we know their cool, cause every 2 bit reviewer is giving their 2 cents...cheap advertising for them...your here in this channel giving them more views.............
While you’re in a city with a boutique, I’m in a city 400 miles away from the closest Swatch stockist.
Swatch Group are discriminating against everyone in the world geographically disadvantaged again.
Last time I was excited, then disappointed, then angry at the way the debacle was handled.
This time I’ll take heed of the bard and I “won’t get fooled again” . . .
I’ll take that US$400 and put it toward another El Primero, a Seamaster . . . or a real WhiteBread.
This is very true, it discriminates in many ways and is TOTALLY unnecessary, Swatch could mass produce millions if they wanted too but supply is artificially limited
@@vinnyfrancis, they’ve probably produced tens of thousands by now, but they’ll retain a choke-hold on distribution in order to keep demand artificially high.
It’s a page right out of the De Beer playbook . . .
I went to the Swatch boutique on 5th Ave. yesterday, the day after the "launch." There was no line, so I walked right in. When I asked if there were any watches left, they looked at me as if I had two heads. Oh no, I would have to wait for another "event" before I could buy one. Could I see one? No, they were locked in the window. Frankly, I got a Hamilton Field Khaki for the same price a few months ago. A real watch, with a steel case, genuine mechanical movement that can actually be repaired. This is bullshit. I'll never be back.
One more thing. I went to the Omega boutique next door afterwards and asked about their NATO straps. I nearly fell over when I was told they were $180. It's the same strap I get at Blushark for $35, only with the addition of the Omega logo. And a plain rubber strap for a Speedmaster for a similarly ridiculous price. They must have to teach their sales staff to keep a straight face when quoting these prices. How stupid do they think we are?
shocking experiences, they need to give their heads a wobble and remember the customer is paying their wages and putting bread on their table...whenever we get an awkward interaction with a client thats what i always tell myself, the customer is therefore always right.
Thanks for dropping this video on the topic of this Blancpain collab, Vinny
No problem at all! a shame though that so many thousands of people
still queued this morning only to get turned away! I tried🤷♂️
I love your videos. But your wrong on this one. It’s the future. Entry for young people.
Agreed it is a gateway for the next generation I like that aspect but it’s the artificial limiting of supply of a so-called non limited production product that irritates many of us
That toy watch should cost 100 dollars 😂
Calling people dumb for standing in a line when you did it yourself. Cmon man.
don’t think i used the word dumb, why not watch back before commenting hastily? perhaps you’ll learn that the point of the video is to advise people to not bother as i’ve already gone to the bother and share my experience saving them time? maybe that’s what it’s about. C’mon man
Noooooo one, as mentioned, has heard of BP unless you’re two knuckles deep into the watch game. Omega is different… Rolex… EVEN SEIKO… seriously? But it’s their business. They did the marketing tests and thought it was a great idea. It cost us nothing … so no harm. 🥰🤷🏽♂️
Vinny buy a casio best watch in the world or buy a skmei best casio hommage
I was actually looking at a black and gold digital Casio worldtime recently under £70, really tempted as a beater watch!
Selling out has no limits....
Dreadful flippers!
Wait 2 months and nothing makes sense because you simply buy it for retail, it’s just a problem for people who are into hypes
I love a good old Vinny Rant ™ ! and even better that you said rant at the end. Really looking forward to queuing up at my computer Saturday morning to look at the crazy ask and even sold prices for these little buggers.
Hahaha £1250 i’ve seen some ebay ads at already!
@@vinnyfrancis cheeky ! 💥
Right now, there is an eBay seller asking for GBP 1,650.00 which is around US$ 2,060 for the blue one. Insane. Will pick up a Fifty Fathoms Scuba in 12 months for the $400 retail price.
world has gone mad
agreed.
❤❤❤❤
Hit the nail on the head with your description of the amateur flipper😂🤣😂🤣. I’m really enjoying your content so thanks very very much for the extra work and time you’re investing in this on top of your business.
Thanks 👍
People camp out over night because they are selling for over USD $1500 now plus shipping fees.
no they’re being advertised at that please don’t naively think they’re selling for that. I can advertise a daytona at half a million doesn’t make it worth that’s be doesn’t mean anyone is buying it at that …
It's amazing really that Swatch have pulled it off. The store in London is usually dead 7 days a week, no seeming shortage of any of their regular models.
Very true! It’s certainly drumming up lots of business for them
You guys gotta really go to the shop and look at it before pulling any trigger as I did lol and in the end I really can't hahaha
Hahaha that’s why all of their marketing material is CGI renders and not photography 😂
Thanks for the vid 🎉 The flippers are going to jizz in there pants over these 🤦♂️
hahaha
Top video as always Vinny.
Keep up the excellent work.
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed
Swatch simply does a lot of things right! It's a great way to introduce luxury watches to the general public! It's a great collaboration.
Jesus … the flippers already have their eBay auctions running for stupid prices too
£1250😂😂😂, please nobody be that stupid
@@vinnyfrancis I’ve seen even £1800! For a plastic frigging watch
well they can dream, I don’t think anyone’s quite that deranged
I feel offended, I wear hoodies and joggers but collect and love watches 😅😂
haha are you a teenager?
Sounds like just about every Rolex owner I know! 🤣
@@vinnyfrancis have a teenage son who wears similar but not the same, I wear rolexes and he wears casios 🤣😎
The globe ?
you really don’t know what that means? seriously?…(youtube never fails to amaze)😂
You are right about another thing too but it's universal and not limited to the watch industry. Lately service employees, retail sales people have the customer services skills of the Gestapo so it is very hard to find a decent store where you can have a relationship with the sales staff. Luckily I have one of those but overall, everyone is getting really rude in retail.
👍
