I ran into a UA-cam video saying I could win FREE Power Tools for just trying them out! Well...I looked into it and it isn't as easy as you would think!
Check out a previous video I did on this program regarding a Dr Pepper fridge: • Be Careful with "FREE"... - Розваги
My step Mother is a pro at getting free stuff from surveys and contests! You should totally interview her. She's in her 60s now and retired. Has made a hobby out of it. She can tell if its a scam or not almost instantly. I tried to do it and I don't have the patience hahaha. She has won so many weird things and items. Folding benches, tool sets, shirts, shoes, a trip to the Rose Bowl! So much stuff. It's so entertaining to watch her go.
Bump
Let's make this happen
Dude what’s the secret I want to do it as well no lie
When I had a dispute with my next door neighbour I found out I was quite good at ordering free things to their house, nothing of any use of course and lots of "gay interest" magazines and vaginal cream (they are male).
Id love to see this!

We are truly living in the Golden Age of scamming. That's why Ben is so freakin' valuable!
Ben’s always been valuable
FB has the worst scam adds in my wall!
and youtube made it easier by removing the thumbs down so people could tell if its a scam if the comments are disabled. if they think it's a scam on UA-cam look at the comments and look at the rating
This is why i have two emails, one for actual business and others email for sketchy websites, registrations, and such so if i do get weird emails, their going onto my secondary email where they can say hi and hello all they want
Yeah, these "free gift" scammers keep moving the posts so you have to spend money and time to get the promised gift. Even then, you probably still won't get it!
I’d love it if somehow you could go down the rabbit hole of asking the actual companies in the affiliate program who they’ve paid commissions to on this Dr. Pepper fridge marketing scam and then have Trilogy Media confront them face to face.
Great Idea!
Reply could be sorry that is not my department do go back to HR and check with them::dang
Those companies know what's going on. And they don't care.
id would love to hear affliate companies that learn of these scam tricks and what they think.
I think one possible reason for why the fridge video performed better than the taking down a scam center video is because everyone can relate to the fridge thing on a personal level. That gives the content universal appeal. In contrast, there are very few people who can relate with the experience of taking down a scammer call center. This narrows the video appeal to the smaller niche of folks who are interested in scam baiting and scammer hacking.
Also, stuff with the UA-cam algorithm. As long as a popular video pulls people into a good channel, there's a high likelihood that viewers will check-out other videos or become a subscriber. Trying to understand the nonsense UA-cam thinks is relevant is like trying to understand the ramblings of a mental patient. Just smile, nod, and take what you can from the experience.
Way more competition on videos about call centers than videos about Dr Pepper fridge offers.
Thanks you for continuing the fridge saga. And damn right, people like this rely on others giving up.
Maybe we’ll get a trilogy??

In the mid 2000s, my Dad responded to an ad to get free golf clubs if he tested them. He signed up for the ad. The company was wanting delivery fees and delayed sending the golf clubs. A family friend said this looked like a scam. My Dad was out some money, not a lot, and never got his clubs. His correspondence and waiting took about a year. My parents were also victims of the computer error scam where the scammer tries to hold their computer performance hostage until they paid a large sum. The sum was about 3x the purchase price of the computer. My parents refused to pay. The scammer got mad and gave up. My parents were confused and shocked. I was mad that this had happened. I kept the computer in good working order and was outraged that this had happened. Their computer was not corrupted or anything.
Awesome story man
Hi there, if your computer get hacked and seems to be just fine or running even better, just do a factory reset immediately.
Yeah just reformat it at this point. Oh wait this was many years ago? At least you reformatted it back then right?

@@vinceonthewebDr Pepper and Vodka? Yuk
Terms and Conditions stated they could substitute for a different item of equal or greater value. But the fridge was $100 and you only got a $25 gift card. I'm surprised you didn't call them out on that.
The fridge was$100 on eBay from a totally different seller
The original retail value of the fridge was very likely to have been around $25, but now that they're no longer being manufactured and cannot be purchased as new at their original MSRP, people are selling them on eBay with a significant markup since they've since become a "rare" item.
@@mattmurphy7030 a cheap mini-fridge? cheapest I can find is $10 new, so $25 for a branded one seems plausible.

I found your channel because of the Peoples Call Center. I really enjoy your teaching style. And the fact that you show all sorts of scam ads that we all can come across. Learning a lot here, thank you!
Ben, I thoroughly enjoyed the Dr. Pepper fridge, the video about shutting down the scam call center AND this one greatly because I cannot stand fraudsters!! These scams to sign up for all this nonsense for nothing make me MAD!
I wonder if you can scam the scammers by constantly requesting for the fridge and they give you gift cards back

I recently found your channel because I got that Dr.Pepper fridge video recommended to me . But honestly ever since I’ve been binging your channel everyday since! Love your videos sooooooo much !
When i saw the ad style and the emails i knew it was the same scammers as the Dr.Pepper ad. Mr. PG your videos are educational and ur viewer's should never fall for such lame scams.
When I found you a few years ago, Pleasant Green were the only two words that popped into my head when I thought of scams. That’s also how I saved my grandma from one of these scams, so thank you for what you do.
Wow that’s amazing to hear
I saved my mother from the fake Amazon email scam one time. She texted my dad and I in the group text and she asked about it, I said, “Ignore it, it’s a scam.”
Ben when you said "More quests for free crap" I lost it. Hahaha! Keep making videos. They save folks, and they're hilarious.
In Germany these things exist. Here is a Computer parts Shop that has a program called Test, Review, keep i won a Keyboard from Corsair a few years ago and i still use it today. In this program you apply for a raffle and if you get selectected they just send you what you applied for
Thank you for exposing these scammers. I am almost got caught up in a scam a couple of months ago. And when they wanted me to take out a loan to receive price money. I finally came to my senses and called my sister. Who told me to go back into messenger and to block the two accounts. (I realized later that I should have first reported the two accounts to META Facebook to have them taken down.) But I hope that by watching your videos, that I will become more hyper vigilant against the scammers.
Have your reported these scammers to companies whose "deals" they are supposedly selling (SmileDirect, Walmart, etc.)? If so, what has been the response of these businesses?
To be perfectly blunt though, these companies probably don’t care. It gives them customers and makes them money, so as long as the means aren’t overtly illegal, they don’t really care how scammy it is. I hope I can be proven wrong, though.

I did one of these style rewards years ago(back in the pop up era) and I did indeed get the item, a 100 something dollar printer. I don't know how many rewards I signed up for, back at the time their were far fewer subscription services save for news papers and magazines. Honestly these programs do make sense if the companies aren't scamming, it's the same premise as using Facebook, who sales your data and in exchange offers you the platform free of charge, you're generating leads and adrevenue. Then there is commissions these companies are making, so there is room for them to complete the reward without losing any money in the process especially since many of the participants aren't going to complete the process, following the 80/20 rule, probably about 20% of those who go through the program grt to the point where they can claim their reward, but they're made money regardless if you complete it or not. Back before Amazon shut it down, companies would advertise on fb to review their product for free and they were completely legitimate, in terms of Amazon fulfilling the order, you reviewing it and then your money being sent back to you.
I always wanted to see where these end up going, thanks for this! Please make more videos like this!
I remember when I was in my teen they advertised on T.V this Ad about drawing. They sent you a sketch to do and send back. It was terrible but they still said it was good enough to go to their art school. Funny now that I think about it

Your free fridge video was first I saw but sticking around for the rest of the great content
I just found your channel from watching The People’s Call Center. This is worthy binge watching. Thank you!
these scams have been around for as long as the Internet, lol.... I remember 12 years ago (I was like 10) I created an email address and found all these websites promising free gifts like a free PSP and other tech and stuff, all they wanted was for you to sign up for a few magazine subscriptions under a two-year contract paying over $1000 in did magazine subscriptions for them to possibly send you the "free Item".
I remember getting one of the full screen pop ups of the government seeing me on adult sites. (I was not) and I couldn't click out of the popup cause they made it seem like a locked screen. So out of panic, I shut it off. Then turned it on and it was gone. Biggest annoyance that I prob lost whatever I was working on

Congratulations on your new tools, and your mini fridge from before. Im sure these videos show exactly how easy it is to get them.
I got sucked into an ad on free candles, and I figured out after 10 clicks of questions that this was probably a scam and quit answering their questions. But since they had my email address I got tons of emails for quite a long time unsubscribe to most but more just popped in. It took a good year to get rid of all those emails. I now avoid any ad that I see offering free stuff. Hope this video and comment keeps other people going down this rabbit hole.
So you said they claimed they could provide you a prize equal to or greater than the promotional product.. yet they sent you a 25$ gift card for something you could only find online for $90+? You should ask them where they can find the Dr pepper fridge for 25$ and if they can't provide it ask for the 99$ or proof they found one cheaper

Pleasant Green: the scammers are going to sell your data
Also Pleasant Green: here's an ad for a company who's profit comes from selling your data.
Irony of a company called privacy who " may share data that is not personally identifiable with third parties."
Every company sells your data. Data is incredibly valuable. So you might as well give it for some actual good or service you want in return.
im guessing youre not using a linux computer or a custom firmware for your phone, microsoft, google and apple already know everything about you so compared to the tiny amount of data privacy takes, i dont think it will change anything
You writing a comment on UA-cam and having a UA-cam account…. You’re data is already been passed around

I once seen an advertisement for an electric lighter for dirt cheap, just a dollar with free shipping. And this was the time when they were just coming out, ads everywhere were selling them for 15-20+ dollars. So I figured "Hey? What's the worse thing that could happen?" I ended up using what was left on an old visa prepaid card and strangely enough they wanted photo copy proof of my address, which I thought was a little weird but whatever.

There are websites where you can sign up where your income is based on how many people you can redirect towards giveaways that completes it. The amount is diffrent from each giveaway since some of them is where you need to pay to complete the giveaway
I’m truly shocked you were able to even get $25. I wonder what their “reward partners” think of this? They’re scamming their potential customers and that is just going to make them angry at their service because they were tricked into it. I’d think they’d be delivering low quality leads. Perhaps reach out to each “partner” and ask why they allow this.
It's not really a partner anways. The gift card provider is simply a company which provides gift cards automatically.
@@LuaTech I meant the subscriptions and services he had to sign up for to get the gift card. Those companies pay this company a referral fee. Maybe if they knew how this company was baiting and switching and lying they’d discontinue their referral code so the incentive to lie would be gone.

Just weeks before the fridge video was originally uploaded I thought about getting one to mount near my PC rig. The local Walmarts had these things for $20 and came in Mt. Dew, Pepsi, Pepsi 0, Sprite, and... Budweiser? I wanted the Zero since my setup is mostly black but never got around to getting one. Besides, the usual theme with minis is they tend to really suck at their job if under $99 so do pay attention to reviews. These ones in particular are still up on Walmart's website for $30-34.
we call it bogan buying . purchasing company branding stuff to decorate the house
I have this fridge; it's more like a toy cooler that works than an actual appliance. It keeps your drinks a couple degrees cooler than room temp. It's more of a decoration than anything.
@@nikkim4828 I thought so from the very beginning. Real cooling requires a condenser of sort and there's no way in hell these little buggers would have anything more than a 120mm fan topping out at 800rpms.
Its not really a fridge
Its more like a cooler
If you really want a Dr. Pepper Fridge there is one for 34 at Walmart online and 25 on Ebay (probably used). I know that's beside the point, but I felt bad you didn't get one. But Walmart also collects your personal data through your bank card. When I go to Walmart, I end up getting a review request in my email. The only way they could have gotten that email address was if they used my online purchase information and linked it with the store because I used the same card for purchases at the physical store and online.
