Why… just use a $25 primary clutch puller and stop teaching people old school shady ways of doing it. You should take your clutch off and apart every season and clean and inspect. Which means your using the clutch pulling at a minimum every year so it’s worth spending $25 for the right tool
I have the tool and it works well on clutches that are serviced every year. But it always fail to take a clutch off if the clutch stuck. I even bent one of the tool. The trick with water and Teflon tape never failed me. Also the water will never damage crankshaft, but the tool can do. So the guy is correct about the tool - if you don’t have it why to buy
