Good video, I'm working on an 800r need to clean the carbs and was wondering how the secondary comes off. Thank you skidoo for making a ten second job, take an extra hour! But at least I know how to do it now. And very good explanation of the entire process!
What i needed from this video was info how to reset the bearing on the jackshaft. Fought it for 3hrs before finally losing sprocket into chain case. I didnt think the bearing retainer was strong enough to press bearing side-loading. That info woulda saved me 5+ hours and whole lotta frustration and anger. Now i'll be tearing open the chaincase...
@@mountainsleddergarage8627 entire jackshaft. I struggled re-seating bearing in tower cup, wasnt aware the reatiner bracket pressed the bearing back in. Didnt attempt at first because i was afraid i would bend the bracket. Through facebook i learned the bearing bracket pressed bearing in...but lots of struggle before that.
I like your tip on replacing the helix bolts with Hex Heads. The part I'm not sure on is you won't be able to torque the helix bolts without removing it with the jacket shaft. Not enough room to torque the bolts while still on sled
It’s hard to get a torque wrench in there. You can usually get an inch lb 1/4” drive in there, as they are quite small. Have to convert ftlbs to inch lbs and hopefully your small torque wrench goes thst high. Lots of blue lock tight.
@drymillsfarms9139 my 2020 did not have the nordloc washers under the helix bolts. I'm not sure what model year the Nordloc washers were added, but I would not use them with the flange head bolts just for clearance reasons. I heard there can be interference issues with flange head bolts at full shift out. So I used the belt removal tool to fully open the secondary and mine. Bolt heads cleared by about the thickness of a paper. I don't think mountain riders ever get full shift out but something to be aware of non the less.
@@mountainsleddergarage8627 hmmm - i was looking for the same but the link you've posted isn't working. Can you relink or possibly just name the tool so that I can search for it. Thanks.
I wish it was that simple like polaris&cat. You can buy a jackshaft and clutch that allow you to do that. Most, but not all, skidoo jackshafts and secondary clutches are one unit.
Nice video! Thank you. I see that egt sensor plug looks like you welded it in, I’m guessing that can came with one on the bottom… my new g5 expert had the bung at the bottom (aftermarket can) and it’s getting splashed by snow! Running Rich and fowling plugs. I moved it up top, looks just like yours haha👍🏼
Yes, it’s not a good place for the sensor. I’d be fine until I rode in deep powder. If you ran wide open it was fine, but if you let off the throttle and got back into the throttle it would bog and sputter badly. My theory was when I let off the throttle the front end of the sled would drop into the powder, blowing cold snow up the exhaust and instantly cooing off the egt sensor. Once I moved the sensor to a place where it stays warm/hot, problem gone.
@@mountainsleddergarage8627 my thoughts exactly as well, much worse coming down the mountain with the front end diving, 3 feet plus of fresh all day haha it did great on the way up. Headed out tomorrow to give it a try with new plugs and the sensor relocated👍🏼
This is the best instructional video for the QRS clutch removal that I have ever seen! Bravo Sir! Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you! Hope it helped you out
You do such an awesome job.Very thorough and Love that you tell the torque specs!
Thanks, much appreciated!
New to SkiDoo's... your videos have been LIFESAVERS!!! WELL DONE!
Thanks, glad to know they’re helpful.

Im curious is there a faster better way than what is shown here? How did this video make a 10 second job take an hour?

Are you asking about putting the whole jackshaft/clutch assembly bank in the sled or just reinstalling the bearing on the shaft gif you take it off?

Great video! About to do mine... What's the length of the hexhead bolts?
Thank you...
25mm
@@machine7767do you still use the washers that came with the hex heads with the flange bolts ?

Excellent video.
Thanks
Thank you, very clear and concise. Where did you get the aluminum tool for the chaincase side?
That aluminum tool came with my MPI turbo kit. A number of companies make them
Tool came with my MPI turbo kit s few years ago. You can buy steel ones from different sources
great video - thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Why would my 2ndary clutch not be responding to adjustments? Belt is super loose and its not adjusting..
Belt too worn or wrong belt? Maybe your adjuster is stripped? Also seen the bolts for the helix come loose and/or brake off.
Would you know the length of the 8mmx1.25 10.9 hex bolts? Thanks for posting this video it was extremely helpful for a beginner like me!
25mm
I need that gear retaining tool where I get it

Look up C&T powersports, they have all the tools and parts
Very professional.👍👍
Thanks
Why can't I just take the clutch off the jack shaft and service it?
