Last year I spent over 15 days at the bottom of the grand canyon backpacking and it moved me and changed me in profound ways that can only be experienced. Hearing today that it's under threat from mining, hotel developers, and people who want to build IMAX theatres and shopping malls on ancient sacred spaces is devastating. Descending 4500ft into the canyon should be done on foot or mule and by those who have the burning desire to do so. A gondola swiftly ushering 10,000 tourists to the bottom so they can shop is too horrifying to even consider. Im a loss right now.
No this leave it as it is the breath taking views of this mistycel national park as it has been for centuries it would be a great tragedy to development in this great wonder of the world.
Watching this full screen is breathtaking, and it may be as close as you will ever get to these lands. You may never feel how cool that breeze gets as you descend, or hear that wide, glorious silence. Can you imagine a canyon so vast that you can predict the weather by sight, scent and sound as it approaches from miles away? You may never get to see this glory, but I'll bet your children and grandchildren will want the opportunity to do so. Save The Confluence!
The Grand Canyon is truly magnificent. Visit it in the winter, when there are few other visitors, to have an appreciation for how sublime it is, as snow contrasts with its colors and raptors soar overhead. Leave it as it is! Man cannot improve upon it, as TR said, but only mar its beauty.
I self support kayaked this river in 13 days, seeing the things i saw , i couldnt imagine how much people could ruin it, especially people who have no sense of outdoor respect. keep our waters clean

Hey George This is tuber man--- We first hit the Big Ditch in '79. I ran Crystal and Lava falls in/on/out of my black farm tube-- Swallowed lots of water on that trip!!!
my heart hurts with the thought that people will allow changes in the Grand Canyon to make it easy for them to see the bottom with no effort at all. What lazy fools .

Let it be, let it be.
In the 1960s we stopped them from building two dams in the Grand Canyon. We can save the Grand Canyon again.

We protested against the Forest Service about the outflows and usage of water by Las Vegas and against Palo Verde plant.......
