I am commenting again because I absolutely love this documentary. It is stunning and educational, I think most people don't even know how much they rely on the Colorado for their everyday lives and they need to know. This is a major thing that is going on and people need to do their part to help.
Man....that was touching for sure. Damn I feel like crying myself. I’ve seen it’s beauty and I’ve never really thought much about it, but I will visit her the next time I travel to Utah.
Amazingly well done. We used this as a presentation for our local land trust, the Colorado Headwater's Land Trust. We are so blessed to have the headwaters of the Mighty Colorado in our County. I hope this raises awareness along the lines of the film Watershed. It is not too late people! It is not!
Watching my student's faces as we watched this video was stunning. They are thinking about water in a different way. Being near the Ohio River, we have plentiful water. This gives them a new perspective.
This was very well made, thank you for the hard work you put into it. I find it heartbreaking that this beautiful video has under 300,000 views (vs what, a billion over anything Kardashian?). This video teaches and it inspires, it is succinct and visually appealing, and at the end it provides how to find more information on how to contribute to change. I hope people visit the website, or at least Google or read to find out more about this important subject. Things could change for the better if more people decided to care, and if everyone recognized that every single one of us does have the power to change things.
Such a powerful short documentary. While I generally stay away from the ego-stroking awards, I am aware. If I had my way, this would certainly be nominated for an Award. #coexist. We are all connected.
Thanks all for nice words. Voices are Local Coloradans. Footage comes from my own archive and many other talented shooters including Kontent that did Redford's piece. And yes, music is Premium Beats. Great spot for stock tunes. Cherish our rivers.
For some odd reason, I felt a real connection to this video. Perhaps it was that I lived in Vegas and my family took me to Lake Mead. I've seen this river's glory days and now it saddens me to see how much it has declined. Everything, Everyone, Everywhere ends...
This river has survived for millions of years, but we have managed to damage it, possibly irrevocably, in a matter of decades. Somewhere along the way, as we strive to harness the planet for our own personal advancements and comfort, we have forgotten the most important fact...natural resources are finite.
Great and innovative Video. This concept can effectively be used in the Developing World to raise awarness many about engandered locations by illustrating its usefulness, human's past destructive impacts, and serious consequences if no corrective actions are taken. Very effective media masterfully made!
You cry because what is being done to this river (and several others) is a sin of the greatest magnitude. We have been granted dominion over this land and all creatures therein. With that task comes stewardship to care for and tend the lands. We are supposed to be good stewards of the land and not abuse this sacred trust we have been given. Sadly, mankind has a history of destruction of our natural resources. I have been a professional river guide for 43 years including 5 years in the Grand Canyon. Rivers are literally the lifeline of this planet. If we don't take care of them we will suffer terrible consequences. Please join the fight to protect this river...
The only solution is to immediately tell the communities in the desert dependent upon that river that they can't have their lawns any more. You just don't get a lawn if you live in Las Vegas. Sorry. There's just not enough water for you to have your english-style lawn. Society could still spare enough water to have lawns in places like public parks and baseball fields, but as for having a green grass covered lawn in your backyard, you're going to have to make peace with the idea that that isn't going to happen. People can still have yards; just plant native species that can survive on just a few inches of water a year. If we fail to do this now, we will cause people to die of thirst because we want our front lawns to look pretty.
Yah no lawns, no giant open ponds, man made lakes which promote massive evaporation and water loss to the ground. And I think we need to stop farming in the middle of the desert, it's kinda rediculous that you would farm in the desert when the midwest has tons of land great for farming and tons of rain all year around. Just build the farms where you have alot of water like the Mississippi River ect. The problem with desert land is that it hasn't had water on it in so long that it absorbs water much faster than non desert area's, this makes it take more water to keep the land wet to farm.
the people, the lawns, the golf courses, the pools mean so little compared to the agriculture using their "part". You could completely move all the people out of arizona, las vegas, and southern california and still not have enough water. Farming is using 83% of the water pulled from the colorado
People always say California is going dry and a huge drought. I never took it seriously until I watched this video. It was touching, and it has changed my way of using water. I now use the smallest shower overhead and I never took baths anymore. My showers are shorter, I stopped washing My car and only water my garden & Lawn once a week.
The estimated age of the Earth is 4.6 - 4.7 billion years. Anyone who's ever taken a geology class can tell you that. The Colorado River was consolidated to it's present course over 2 million years ago. Which is fairly recent in geologic time, when you consider that the oldest rocks exposed at the bottom of the Grand Canyon are 2 billion years old.
Become active. If you live in the west, advocate native plants. Talk to your politicians about water management. Write congressmen. Experience the river and learn about it, learn how to care for it, what the river needs, and what it represents to nature. People move to deserts then make laws requiring lawns, it's seriously ridiculous, and the damage we do in this regard must be publicized.
Yeah, it is a tough situation right now on the Colorado River, for sure. This Tier 1 shortage will take effect January 1, and will have a real impact, especially in Arizona. Thank you for following American Rivers and stay tuned for more content from us soon!
My name is Doug Vollmayer and I'm a producer for ABC News' Good Morning America. I'm doing a story on the Colorado River during this time of drought. Do you own the drone material seen in this video? If so would we be able to use some in our story with credit to you?
I did research on water usage across the globe, and it is sad, how much water we waste, water that some family in the middle east or Africa would give anything to have. water, that we are quickly running out of. Water.
First, make sure to take action and show decision makers you want a healthy Colorado! Link is in video text above. You can also make sure friends and family are using water as wisely as possible. The more we live it and help others understand, the farther this message will go!
Colorado been getting good snow packs and yes there is some drought but the real problem for Colorado River as this video pointing out man has made to many dams from west Colorado through three states man is sucking more water than the Colorado River can deliver, California is pulling this river down badly why can’t LA suck water from the Pacific Ocean and filter the salt out purify the water they can but they want Colorado River cause it’s cheaper to produce. California going to have to get water somewhere else cause the river needed for agriculture and electricity and water for Arizona, Nevada, and western Colorado. If they don’t stop the over usage of water with California the Colorado River will cease to exist in Arizona and Nevada as she’s dried up in the Delta in Mexico where she use to drain in the sea plus Mexico been using the Colorado water for yrs today it’s bone dry what a shame! 😢
I live there everything is false in this video. Yes it is majestic and yes it is beautiful but it is neither threatened nor is it in any danger. A well cared for waterway. In addition, Phoenix has an underground aqua lake that supplies water in addition to the aquaducts from the lakes.
While I agree with you, don't put all the blame on Phoenix. The river is still quite full when it hit's the AZ western border. Southern CA, with its golf courses, lush lawns and tropical landscaping are the ones who suck the river completely dry. You know those rich movies stars can't live without their privacy hedges and hot weather misters.
I am commenting again because I absolutely love this documentary. It is stunning and educational, I think most people don't even know how much they rely on the Colorado for their everyday lives and they need to know. This is a major thing that is going on and people need to do their part to help.
Water - river water -Colorado River water is so necessary so important. I love this video. I hope we can keep the Colorado river waters clean.
The Colorado river is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in the life
You've never seen me on the toilet.
I have never once taken the time to write down the words of an ad before, but I did with this one. It's poetry: deeply affecting tragic poetry.
Thank you so much for your comment - it is a moving film, for sure!
O.M.G. This has really touched my soul. We must take care of our planet before it,s too late.
The best PSA ever made. Love every person who put their work and time and soul into this. The Colorado River needs us --
Man....that was touching for sure. Damn I feel like crying myself. I’ve seen it’s beauty and I’ve never really thought much about it, but I will visit her the next time I travel to Utah.
My heart breaks every time I hear the river say: "I am tired."

Just watched this video today in science class and half of the class was on the verge of tears 😢
Pete McBride, filmmaker of this clip, rocks. The voiceover for the river is gorgeous.
This song brings tears to my eyes. It is so powerful 😮
I grew up and still live along the river in Colorado and this documentary made me cry
Best video ever i seen about colorado.i dont know why but it really touch my heart.
Love from sri lanka.🙏🙏🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰 💖💖
beautiful, tragic and true---------- great work.

Pete McBride! Amazing video! This is what Redford's film, Watershed, should have been. Incredible.
Such a powerful short documentary. While I generally stay away from the ego-stroking awards, I am aware. If I had my way, this would certainly be nominated for an Award. #coexist. We are all connected.
I absolutely love this documentary too. The amazing pictures, the touching words and music - I would like to send this video all over the world...
Super veido we can understand what we can't understand in class so nice veido
Makes me want to cry. I love the Colorado river.
Thanks all for nice words. Voices are Local Coloradans. Footage comes from my own archive and many other talented shooters including Kontent that did Redford's piece. And yes, music is Premium Beats. Great spot for stock tunes. Cherish our rivers.
oh... My tears when they said, "I am a few who no longer kisses the sea"
Thank you to Bob and Jamie Redford for helping to restore part of the Colorado Delta. PLEASE continue to help. She is beautiful.
1:30 funny thing about the Hoover Dam, the coolest thing to look at when visiting it, is the giant highway bridge
Well done! i recognize a lot of those shots and i appreciate the VOICE OF WATER, "maybe we are the voice of water."
For some odd reason, I felt a real connection to this video. Perhaps it was that I lived in Vegas and my family took me to Lake Mead. I've seen this river's glory days and now it saddens me to see how much it has declined. Everything, Everyone, Everywhere ends...
But a river shouldn’t
Great video...really tells the tale of the River!
Nature is such a beauty!
Your right nature is every beautiful

Somewhere along the way, as we strive to harness the planet for our own personal advancements and comfort, we have forgotten the most important fact...natural resources are finite.
Okay Thanos
If man don’t stop the over usage of water he will badly hurt this river!
😢 Best ad ever made.

Gran combinación de mensaje y música
that is powerful And very true thank you for making that that is awesome
Why am I crying about a river right now? xD
Because you are beautiful.
Yana- A person who draws really ugly pictures SAME!
I am too 😂 but it’s true, it’s a big problem

Don't let the Grand Canyon become a gravestone!
This video was really well done. Major kudos!
May the Lord bless the Colorado...

Why not put a pump to feed water into the river?
Love this video, makes me want to go buy a soda instead of a bottle of water.
how can a river be tired
This is so relevant nine years later when little has been done and the Southwest is facing a crisis of biblical proportion
great river . . . Colorado
I hope visit it😮
It 's so nice🌀💧💧
Can I get a copy of this I can play on my coach? I'm a tour director and would love to show this on my tour.

Great Work!

just to many people! 22 million in southern California alone! 1 million in Phoenix, half a million in las vegas.

2021 here, first ever water shortage declared for the river. Lake Mead below 30%.
Yeah, it is a tough situation right now on the Colorado River, for sure. This Tier 1 shortage will take effect January 1, and will have a real impact, especially in Arizona. Thank you for following American Rivers and stay tuned for more content from us soon!
