I see companions blocking the doorway has been a time honored tradition throughout the fallout games.
Damn dogmeat
At least you could tell them to move away in 2, which is frankly the best gameplay addition to the game.
@@AntonioBarbarian
Funny, it was so common in Fallout 1 that they had to add this feature for the sequel.
@@AntonioBarbarian "move back" is much appreciated in new vegas as well. Why didnt bethesda implement in 3?🤔
@@Lazt Probably because Bethesda made Fallout 3 and wasn't experienced with this problem? Also New Vegas was not only developed by Obsidian (and more specifically the former employees of Interplay who worked on Fallout 1 & 2), but also came out after Fallout 3? Basically not quite Bethesda's fault here... Unless this issue carried over to Fallout 4 and 76.
Supposedly, the Lieutenant had been undergoing rapid growth in muscle mass and required cybernetic implants to regulate and stunt said growth. Your killing blow does not actually kill him, though it does damage his implants. This causes his own body to tear itself apart because of its rapid mutations being no longer in check.
Fitting he dies in such an excruciatingly painful fashion, seeing as how he took sadistic pleasure in torturing his captives.
I wonder if that's how Bethesda got it's idea for behemoths
Mr.Bootleg I never understood how The Master ended up getting to the cathedral from the MMB.
Any insight on that?
I was always under the impression he was kind of an immobile blob.
Rifle Shooter Channel my guess is he got moved hence why he had to stop consuming other the more he eats the smarter he gets but eventually he would have to settle this in my opinion is his biggest downfall
Rifle Shooter Channel the Super Mutants probably carried him
@@rifleshooterchannel208 he says he injected himself more over time, so why wouldn't he when he had settled down?
"Lou" the Lieutenant, hmm reminds me of something in New Vegas...
_"I think one of them said a name, Lou something, Lou... Tennant, Lou Tennant that's it"_
_"He probably said Lieutenant, boy means well but he's dumb as a mutant sometimes."_
A secret Easter egg?
Actually, yes.
no secret about it
Well a lot of the Obsidian staff who worked on New Vegas were former Interplay/Black Isle staff who worked on Fallout 1/2. So yeah, it's a nod to Fallout 1.
Who said that?

I remember getting some text like that in Fallout 2, it said" you were critically hit for 0 damage, you scream in agony" LOL
I’n my last playthrough Marcus got hit for No Damage and exploded into a Bloody Mess.

The late Tony Jay lending his voice for Lew made this game so much better. His voice is just so commanding and creepy at the same time. I love Fallout 1-3's choices for voice acting.

During the Vault 13 raid, it's strange that the mutants kill all of the vault dwellers, weren't they supposed to capture them alive so that they could convert them into super mutants.
RadicalShermhed Yeah I know that confused me a lot
Ian Robertson I guess so the one not sure I can bring people back from the dead maybe can you bring a death but not free death and especially not arms blown off dead i’m not gonna auto correct the errors in this common sense it sounds weird play my laziness
@@thatonenon-uniqueindividual My guess is that the super mutants raiding the vault were second generation and didn't realise that was so important, or maybe they simply forgot why they came to the vault in the first place. If every super mutant was made as intelligent as Lou or Marcus, The raid probably would of resulted in very few deaths
@@jamesneville8179 Still first generation, but Waste-Born, so almost as dumb as second generation.
@@DIEGhostfish ah right, was a little unsure on the correct terms
That bad ending still gives me the creeps. It's one of those endings that makes you feel like a piece of shit for letting your vault and the rest of the human population to die and when you lose your humanity.
Tbh I think its only worth it to get the vault killed, other than that yea its messed up but I think the vault deserves it because we get sent off anyways water chip or not. Mainly the overseer even if he's bad ass with that gun he deserved it the most to be punched to death, other than that I think its a bad ending for everyone and everything else besides the overseer
It feels like that scene in Clone Wars with those troopers getting swarmed
@@VoidfulSwag
you can kill the overseer in the vanilla base game, you just need the bloody mess trait and you are set to Fuck him up lmfao
That ending seems stupid anyway, even if it looks awesome. The dumbest super mutants can follow basic commands and, with someone like Lou in charge of such an important raid, the goal would be to capture as many vault dwellers alive as possible. Even the Master doesn't care about the simple mutants, so it wouldn't matter how many might die during the search and seizure.
Optimally, they could even have some symbolic 'preservation' coffins to haul them away to the vats in but that's just being creative.
Any ending where a fink like jocori can look heroic is a bad ending to me. Would be like seeing overseer almodovar shoot off col. autumn’s kneecaps after president eden brainwashes us with ludivico.
I heard a rumor (not sure if it’s true) but the mutant climbing onto the overseer’s desk has a 13 on it’s back. Maybe it’s our Vault Dweller?
It is
@@shend2992 It's obvious to happen, the Vault dweller exactly knows how to dodge the bullets, just go through the middle XD because the dual cannons are mainly on the sides.
If you heard the ending
it said something about you delivering the final blow to the Overseer, If you got the ending anyway.
I see the master endings again and I check the back of that Super Mutant and it's possible but I believe it's just the lights made people think it's write "13"
Yeah, it's canon, after becoming a Super Mutant, the Vault Dweller himself is the one to kill the Overseer.
"We need everyone in the vault alive to dip them"
*proceeds to murder everyone in the vault*
emporer15 confusing good job inkwell that’s why you stayed in business
Maybe that's why you don't send hyper-aggressive murder machines with incredibly low intelligence to do work as delicate as capturing an entire vault alive.

Nope. It's Despacito.
Wait, wait. I thought it was the Mireposi Municipal Base? I'm pretty sure that's how Ox pronounced it?
Maraprincipal military base.
I've probably played Fallout at least 100 times, and I just noticed when he gives up the location of Vault 13, he says it is over the the mountains to the west. Vault 13 is east of Mariposa. How did they find the vault if he lied about it's location? This choice is selected at 38:40.
Great point!
I assume it is typo. Are you using the patched version? I know there are a couple non official patches too. I wonder if this has been fixed in one of those patches, if it wasn't fixed in version 1.1.
Also, why are they killing the vault dwellers instead of capturing them
?
@dor elbaz I think there are two reasons: 1) The ones who resist they obviously kill to break resistance; 2) Many supermutants are dumb and animalistic in their behaviour; they might be out of their leash and enjoy some mindless violence.
What threat could they possibly impose on the super mutants who are much more advanced and prepared than the vault dewellers, except for the overseer and his mounted machine gun desk. but yeah I forgot for a moment they are dumb so reason 2 might be it.
The mutants seem overly brutal in the assault on the vault. The idea is to capture the primes, dum dums, not slaughter them. Anyone who isn't armed should be easily subdued.
Manawolfman yeah it’s the enclaves job to kill everybody not yours Super mutants
Yea
Originally they were going to kill everyone in the vault but then they changed that but they already made the animation so they just used it anyways
I wonder if this might imply that the masters FEV can bring someone back from death. Or maybe their sounds are non-fatal and easily fixed via dipping?
Oxhorn, they only send four paladins because YOUR CHARACTER says that a smaller team would be better, you can see the dialogue at 4:08. Also the paladins are bugged, which is why they won’t follow you in. Finally if you find proof of mutants at the cathedral, you can convince them to send 2 paladins which do follow you in.
It was the only option he could choose. You can't have a strike force bigger than 4.
Ooooh, cool if You can have backup inside.
I wasn’t saying that you can have a strike force of more than 4, i was saying the elders only sent 4 because there’s a dialogue option that is the sole one, meaning you have to choose it, saying to send a smaller team minimize detection risk. Oxhorn made it sound like they sent such a small team because they didn’t care, they sent such a small team because you told them to.
Though to be perfectly honest, a small team would be harder to detect.
4 is enough. The Emperor protects, you know ...
RIP Tony Jay. Such a great voice actor, more so back in this time.
The Glow destruction exposed the atmosphere to a mutated version of FEV? Could this be the reason why there are ppl that become ghouls instead of dying from radiation poisoning? is this the backstory of the ghouls? I always thought that ghouls where one of that suspension of disbelieve situations. You just have to accept that some ppl can survive radiation and mutate like in every postapoc 90' show/movie ever. But now there might be a justification to their existence in game.
Ghoulism happens because of a combination of certain kinds of radiation and PERHAPS a genetic trait. FEV wasn't widespread enough to contaminate everyone we see who was ghouled.
It was spread enough that only Vault residents aren t "inoculated" from the full effect of unmutated FEV. Which means almost every westlander is infected with it. Also the spreading of the FEV coincides with the day the bombs drop, if it is airborne there isn t any good reason why it couldn t travel with the fallout infecting everyone that was also affected by radiation. The genetic trait and the radiation type probably explain why even when almost everyone was infected some died from radiation poisoning anyway. I know i m applying logic to a videogame and that isn t the smartest thing to do but i would love this to be an explanation to something that bothered me even when i was playing fallout as a child.
There are ghouls literally all over the continent, some of whom were transformed the day the bombs dropped.
Also things like the Vault in the Necroplis wouldn't really happen if they had to be exposed to an airborn virus. They would have been killed by the radiation before the virus had time to spread throughout the wasteland. Your theory would work if we didn't have people transformed by the bombs dropping themselves; but Mariposa is hundreds of miles from some of the locations where we know ghouls were transformed by the bombs, and it would take a virus days at least to spread that far.
Also, in Fallout 2 we know that to spread the FEV to the entire continent it requires injecting it into the jetstream in a specific spot; the odds of Mariposa being positioned in a way that lets the continental jet stream pick up the FEV and spread it in a matter of days across the entire continent is very, very low. Basically impossible.
Also, radiation goes through things that a virus cannot, that's the whole thing about radiation, it passes right through most materials relatively unhindered.
Now, you could speculate that maybe the same genetics that let some people turn into ghouls could be, say, the reason some people turn into Nightkin.
@@mitchellhorton9382 then again, when as many nukes as were used in the apocalypse, it definitely disrupted the jet streams big-time, and the mushroom cloud after a detonation would definitely make the virus reach the nessesary altitude to spread all over the planet.
E.g. you don't want to visit any place on earth where there was no vault equivalents...
Right and massive disruptions would disrupt those patterns, making it even more impossible for a virus to become airborn and mutate in what is minutes.
Again, the problem isn't that FEV couldn't be all over. It's that it would take months or years for it to spread across the USA alone. Even from Mariposa to Necropolis would take days for a virus to travel airborn.
It's just a weak theory, stop trying to make it work.
When you kill that one lonely Supermutant, the ones in the barrack are like
"What was Noise?"
"WHAT Noise?"
"What NOISE?"
"Eh..."

I wish the Plasma Rifles in Bethesda Fallout titles looked as cool as they do in this game

EDIT: If you talk to the guard and have him take you to the lieutenant, at least in my game, the paladins entered the base as well. Not sure if it's a bug or just my game glitched...
@Marko Vujovic it's been pretty awesome playing along. I have Fallout 2 installed but I think he said those videos would be like his LA Noire... but at least we got the original!
They send 4 Paladins to attack the largest threat the post-war world has ever faced up to that point, but they send about 30 to attack a bunch of scientists with androids living underground...
About thirty AND a nuke-slinging Optimus Prime.
@Blaydon That's arguable. Super Mutants are much faster and stronger, are supposed to be nearly impervious to small-arms fire, and virtually immortal. The Master's Army probably would've stood a fair chance against the Institute's synth army, especially if it had never been stopped in Fallout 1. Imagine how big and dangerous it would've been if it existed in 2287... The East Coast mutant strain might get added to the army as well, so there's the behemoths... And since it was the Master who tweaked the Deathclaws into what they are now, we may be able to assume that he could've gotten them added to the army by this time. And assuming New Vegas exists in some form in canon, the army could've rolled into there, The Master might be able to link with those computer systems, assuming he bothered to move over there, giving him the securitron army, and whatever toys they may be able to find in the DLC locations, like Big MT and the Sierra Madre. This is all speculation, but that's all we have at this point.
@Blaydon True, but the Institute won't want to fight against the Master's Army. Especially not if they roll in full force. And we can assume that The Master might assume that if the Institute isn't on the surface, they must be below it, and what's the obvious location? Below the ruins of the only location bearing the name. The Commonwealth Institute of Technology. We're talking about a leader who, although potentially insane, is still incredibly intelligent, with an intelligent army. He'd find the Institute eventually, one way or another.
A thought just occurred to me.
What If synths are compatible with FEV? If they can be turned into mutants as successfully as the Lieutenant or Marcus, and the Master can capture the Institute intact, he'd literally have an endless army...
You're books are AMAZING they are just impeccable

Ah, the lieutenant. Almost as memorable as the Master himself for a technicaly nameless character. (He does have a few nice or informative line you didn't go through.) Tony Jay was perfect for this role, Souding urbane, almost afable yet brimming with menace.
(He's pretty damn tough too with his laser gatling, you made it look easy...)
And you know there are some aspects of the Master and the FEV mutations. The abiliy to merge different organisms in one, that are barely ever touched upon or even mentioned in later games. Kind of a shame, it would allow for so much more vaied and originals desins for monsters and mutants. Green humanoids is nice and all and a god baseline but I'm litle overdoing on supermutants giant/slightly twisted animals and feral ghouls.
Even more interestng are the idea of mind merging and something else I'll wait for us to get nto he cathedral to comment upon sine that might contitute a minor spoiler for anyone not familiar with the game who'd be reading that. But they're barely even brough in the game proper.
I’ve never understood why they murder all of the vault 13 residents when you give up the location, they are supposed to be converting them into super mutants. Killing them defeats the purpose of going there
Some resist, they will die. Others who comply either become super mutants or live out their lives as sterile humans (This latter point I am not sure is said in game but the former definitely).
Judging by the ending footage, it’s possible we don’t see them all.
If I remember correctly (it's been a while) you can turn the forcefields off by manipulating the little device on the frame next to each force field (where the mr. handy exploded next to)
Great Video man, Fallout 2 is imminent. The Master thought he was doing the right thing but when you convince him you realized tge man was just confused and consumed by his dream.

Just wanna say I appreciate what you're doing Ox, every single one of your vids is quality and it shows.
The reason why there's only 4 paladins is because of gameplay, it lags so bad that it's unplayable
Have you thought about asking Wes Johnson to do super mutant voice snippets for dialogue reading, Ox?
Oxhorn, this is off topic, and it might have been mentioned before: the plot of Fallout NV is an inverse of the fall of the Byzantine Empire. The heirs to Rome and a thousand years of civilization are the Byzantines on the west side of the Black Sea and the Turks are the newcomers on the east side. They contested Istanbul (not Constantinople) across the Bosporus until the Turks finally won in 1453.
Deep voice effect was amazing I can't deny it

Thank you, Oxhorn, for all the work you put into making these videos! I'm currently obsessing over New Vegas and was always curious about the lore of Fallout, and I hadn't realized just how much of a reference the first Fallout is to FNV. When Wayne (at the Old Mormon Fort) said "Lou Tenant" and Roy corrected him by saying "Lieutenant" and that Wayne could be "dumb as a mutant sometimes." I just took it as a clever joke, but it was actually a (not so subtle) reference to Lou! On another note, I was instantly surprised he was voiced by the late Tony Jay - could recognize his voice anywhere.
I'm a big fallout fan and I've played all games thousands times, but the first one got quite old even to me. Oxhorn, you’ll probably never see this, but that dead vault dweller looks like it had a Vault 17 jumpsuit. As you may know, Vault 17 was raided by the Unity, as it was the Vault that Lily from New Vegas was from.
The One Where Oxhorn Finally Learns How To Say "Tarot"
*TUNNEL SNAKES RULE!*
Your thumbnail says "militarty" instead of "military".
If it did, it doesn't.

Ahh Tony Jay... his voice was like butter.
I vote for oxhorn to voice the next protagonist in fallout 5
It’s duke nukem
Wrong! It's Roddy Piper.
ingasparrow Wrong! Duke Nukem
@@Erinjamaya Roddy Piper said it first in They Live and he improvised that line. Piper was the greatest talker and heat-bringer in wrestling. The makers of Duke Nukem recognized greatness and paid tribute.
ingasparrow's right. And boy was that one hell of a line. I shudder just thinking about the delivery.
@@ingasparrow true, but the line from the movie is reversed. He says, "I have come here today to chew bubblegum and kick ass." "I have come to kick ass and chew bubblegum" is the way Duke Nukem said it. Since the paladin uses the second version, this is most likely intended to mainly be a Duke Nukem reference. It's a good nod to both though, regardless which they were going for.
this has a problem Lou says drug but the text on the screen say chem
The terms are exchangeable. The term Chem is mainly used so that people don't go into an uproar about "drug abuse in video games".
it breaks fallout law tho- ox said somewhere in an earlier video that drug was changed to Chen to be allowed into my country Australia
so yea you are right it just breaks law
It was supposed to be drugs, but some countries (I think Australia was a big one) wouldn't allow the game, if it referenced drugs as enchantments to fight better and become smarter for a short period of time. So, they changed it to chems, but were probably unable to make a retake of this line.
@@dannymunch4633 yea Australia was I guess they missed this slip
I actually didn't mind you calling her "Kajita" before because it gave me the chance to make jokes like this: "Hey, Kajita, what does the pipboy say about his radiation level?" And that's just Dragonball; take the Khajiit from Elder Scrolls into account and I have jokes for days.
Damn, that dipping ending animation - that was sooo good! I do wonder why the super mutants were killing the vault dwellers when their goal is to capture them and dip them as well LOL but that animation - rarely do games give animations for different endings other than the main story ending, so to see one like this, even a few minutes' long, gives me sooo much satisfaction LOL
