thanks guys awesome video! I would only suggest not using hypersmooth boost too much, IMO it robs too much quality from the video (because it crops in so much more) while only providing marginally more stabilisation. Your 4k/24 clips looked almost 2.7k in terms of quality. I bet it would look way better on regular hypersmooth or if you just filmed in 5k with boost instead which looks incredible
@@Gemini_Connect Any videos concerning the stabilization, will be great, I'm intrigue about how stable it was.... and also how the photos performs with that new processor... Thanks in advance...👌
@@Gemini_Connect thank you! I got to watch the rest of it and you folks covered a lot and it was so helpful! Awesome!!! Im going to get it but have to pay off the Nikon Z6 you recommended compared to the Z50. Btw I love my Z6 even though its out of date lol! Anyways great job you two 😁🤙🏽.
I just bought a GoPro 12 and I love it but I have noticed that sometimes on certain skin tones things look a bit over sharpened and you can see a lot of blemishes on people’s skin, almost looks too sharp. If I’m just shooting scenery, everything looks gorgeous but when I’m shooting people or interviewing people, their skin looks a little sharp or even artifacts a bit. What do you suggest for better results? Also weirdly natural looks worst on skin. Vibrant is ok!
Seems like there is an improvement in low light.Overall the Hero 10 might be worth upgrading from the 9.The natural setting seems to me the best setting for most people.During the water scenes i like the sharpness at medium and made the colors come alive and the water more vibrant. The slow-mo look great!! Love your reviews and more to come....
Thanks for the outstanding review. Is it possible now to preview video on the phone via the Gopro App while recording? That is my favourite feature which was removed on Hero 9
So from what I can see the blue flare issue is still present but in a lower degree am I right? I would also like to ask if there is a way to combine max lens mod with ND filter. Thanks in regard. Great video. Keep up the good work!!! Greetings from Greece!!
Yes, the blue flare still seems to be there, unfortunately. I don't think there is a way to add ND filters to the Max Lens Mod basically, GoPro or a third party would need to make custom ND filters.
Hi! I’ve been looking forward to the Hero 10 release and will be really looking forward to your full review. I’m super impressed with the image stabilization built into the Hero 10 based on your running test. I’m still rocking the Hero 4 Silver and I use it to record my mountain biking rides without a gimbal with good results. How much better do you think the Hero 10 will be over the Hero 4 in terms of image stabilization, not considering all other feature upgrades?
How can anyone look at this and not be totally blown away. Am having to ask my self, wait is this a tiny action camera? Because the video on my Sony A7iii is about the same as this .apart from the blurr and the price . Of course . I must add I’m not a professional film maker, just someone who really Appreciates this stuff. I really like the casual walk and talk review. Thanks
Gopro video quality has been increasing over the years. The footage is certainly impressive for the size and price of the camera. Best of all, in our opinion, I'd the stabilization. A mirrorless camera can't get stability like this without using a gimbal.
Getting mine tomorrow. On board mic sound pretty good on this one. Wondering if the setting has been changed for the Media Mod allowing for dual front and back at the same time? I like the new natural color profile.
Thank you both very much for this insight. I am seeing your footage is very good and insights, as always - i reckon your initial thoughts are pretty positive about the Hero 10, so far anyway. Hypersmooth 4.0 looks very good too, and a step up from 3.0. I look forward to you making further tests, thanks and another great job. Take care, Neil.
would like to know about how still images turn out to be using hero 10 especially under low light conditions (with hypersmooth off/on). Also it would be helpful if you can test it under indoor lighting conditions. Thanks.
Thanks for the thorough review! One aspect I am curious about: is there any change to the minimum focus distance? My Hero 9 seems to be about 12" minimum distance and I'm wondering if the Hero 10 is also the same? I like to vlog for my landscape photography channel and try to show the back of my DSLR setup and that 12" minimum distance has always been a weak spot for me with the GoPro. I have used a GoPro exclusively since the Hero 9 and look forward to upgrading. - Thanks!
Thank you for the awesome video! I'm interested to know if that blue color distortion still appears when the sun hits the lens at an angle like you noticed in Hero 9.
Hello sir&mam! I have a question, will natural colour mode on GoPro Hero 10 come to Hero 9 in future firmware update? Please kindly find out and let us know 🙏 thanks 🙏🙏🙏
GoPro generally doesn't bring new features to older camers once anew model is released. It's just bad businesses as, of course, they want people to upgrade to their latest offering.
@@Gemini_Connect okay I will get it then because some people said if I don’t care about resolution or frame rate then stick to the 7 I just make vlogs and tiktoks in daylight I don’t need slow motion or low light or horizon leveling or hyper smooth I have a tripod and I just would like to add a rode wireless go 2
So far its the best gopro, all previous numbers from 5 for me was nearly similar. If they will continue to improve, maybe gopro 13-15 I definitely will buy.
Hi guys. David here, Im a tech newbie. Ok so I was wondering what are the best protune settings for mountaineering as approaching the mountain has different terrain and colours, then when im on my summit push it's mostly ice and snow sometimes clear sky sometimes cloud cover. Could you do a video on these settings for newbies like me who sometimes struggle to keep up as my lack of experience with the go pro has me dialling in wrong settings
We have a GoPro Settings video here - ua-cam.com/video/5RJC5a6hRjg/v-deo.html In most cases, I'd leave the majority of settings on auto, except for a couple.
Love your content! I have a question regarding low light performance, would the issues be solved by introducing artificial light? So if you used the light mod or something similar would the jarring and lower quality not exists, or exist as bad :)
An external light does help as long as you have a subject relatively close to the canera and are not trying to light a big building or landscape. We'll include some test footage in the upcoming big review.
I have only seen videos where it over heated sitting on a desk in a room not in actual use. I think if someone needs to shoot for a 30 mins straight., they need a camcorder. Good test video.
Good point. We agree about shooting in shorter increments to avoid overheating and also help with faster post production. That's certainly our approach.
Hay thanks for the video, specially was waiting for you guys to compare GP 9 and 10 low light performance. I presume all cams struggle in low light. I have a GP 9 is good enough for me for me, as similar city walking I do at dusk. I use frame rate 400 with ISO around 800 or 1600 with boost. Just try and see the footage is steady but blacks are very prominent. Check this setting and if you can post another will be great. Great job

It actually performed quite good for being in harsh midday sun, but this was definitely a scenario where ND filters were needed to balance out the lighting.
the kind of (pre buying) review we all needed: no filters or expensive video editing software. thank you!
The vibrant color looks better. GoPro 10 is definitely improved. Hypersmooth looks fantastic.

I'm having the same debate as all GP9 users, is it worth the upgrade? I lean towards holding on to the 9, but your video is making me think twice. :-)
The Hero 9 had so many bugs and problems. The Hero 10 is much more reliable -- get this one instead.
Very nice raw review. It appears that GoPro has fixed some of the bugs. Thanks!

It's pretty similar to the H9 in that regard. Likely it's a trade off from having a slightly larger sensor than the H8 and previous.
What Simon said -- no change in minimum focusing distance. Still not ideal for macro or closeup shots.
