He stretches like a cat every morning, he makes this weird meowing noise, he uses his paw to grab things XD
The only reason I’m not convinced he is a cat is because I’m allergic to cats and I’m able to pet him without dying.

Haha, as a child, I used to think a fox was the baby of a cat and a dog 🤭
I used to play cricket, and one of our members had a fox as a pet about 20 years ago. The vixen had been killed and he found one cub alive in the den, so he raised it.
Foxy attended matches regularly and was an utter delight, being intelligent and playful.
Eventually, when he was sure he would cope, he released Foxy into the wild and saw him around from time to time.
Then one day, he opened his front door to find Foxy lying just outside, clearly dying. He'd been poisoned and had managed to get back to the person he hoped could help him.
Sadly, it did not work out that way, and the vet could not save him.
Why do we hunt and kill these intelligent, charming animals?

@@Jasmine-hp8bm Actually they are not really. Some categorize them as dogs, but they are not related to wolves. Foxes are their own species. They basically fill spaces in nature which have neither dog- nor cat-related predators. That's why their behavior is so unique.

She was not lucky to have been born on a fur farm, but she was very lucky to find such a good mom to take care of her, she looked really happy and full of joy!

@@sahilk5885 The little fox was raised on a fur farm, meaning his fur was eventually going to be skinned off him to make a coat or rug for somebody else. That's why I said that. He's alive and all together!!🦊

Years ago, during my years as a wildlife rehabber, I raised an orphaned fox from about age 4 weeks. He was brilliant and I loved having him around. About a month after had had moved from indoors to an outdoor enclosure with a waterproof den and got eggs to learn to open, he watched me using the latch enough times to figure it out and he "self-released". It was joyous to see him head straight for the creek, knowing he'd find what he needed with perhaps occasional visits back home.

Though they fill the niche when there aren't feline predators around. So they are technically in between cats and dogs in terms of their role in the environment.

Fun fact: fox laughter is a learned trait. Tame foxes eventually learn that humans will stay if they hear laughter, and are mimicking the laughter to make the human stay

Same with cats and meowing. Feral cats generally stop doing it after they grow up from kittenhood because there's no need anymore. They're not calling to mom. With humans, cats found out that meowing gets our attention. So they meow.

Sadly, they are an introduced pest here. It's illegal to have them as a pet and it's illegal to "rescue" them like this. Here, foxes are kill-on-sight. It's not so much a "love to kill" thing, but rather they are killing off so many native species that we have to kill them.
@I dunno the Queen Right, but the thing is we brought them here, and foxes quickly kill (to extinction) many Australian species that don't exist anywhere else in the world.
Humans screwed the situation up, which is why humans are having to fix it.

@@toxophilite6804 Surprisingly, we have had several introduced pests that didn't arrive by boat. Dingos arrived via the landbridge when Australia was still part of the supercontinent, and they still decimated the natural ecosystem. It's not just humans that mess stuff up.

We had friends who had a "domesticated" fox. He managed to breed with the neighbors' Collie. Cutest. Puppies. EVER!!!

@@nssquared9174 If you google it, what you are describing is impossible. Foxes and dogs can't breed and have hybrid pups because they have different amounts of chromosomes. They aren't closely related. Dogs and Wolves and Coyotes can successfully breed with each other but not with foxes. The fox was not the father!
Wolves, coyotes, and foxes are the most misunderstood canines on the planet. They have been demonized and slandered when in reality they aren’t the monsters we’ve made them out to be. Their presence is vitally important to the ecosystems in which they live! This education is sorely lacking especially in the USA 🇺🇸. Here’s hoping to greater awareness of these issues before these species become extinct!!!
Some people can't seem to comprehend that animals don't operate on human moral terms, they act on the instincts that suit their ecological role. Predators can't have empathy for their prey, or they wouldn't be able to do their 'job' in nature. But there are some people who literally think carnivores are just 'evil' for the lols or something. It reminds me of some crazy medieval thing where they put an actual pig on trial for injuring someone. They tried a pig as if it was a human, in all seriousness. If I remember correctly they might have even hanged it after. Totally mental, but yeah wolves and coyotes and foxes are badass adorable wilderness doggos and I love them! After all, we keep cats, and they slaughter small innocent creatures all the time, even when they're not hungry (and so do dogs, to a lesser extent/depending on breed), but we still love them, because we understand it's just the way they're 'wired', rather than the unnecessary malice displayed by many humans. (Some animals do kinda just seem like crazy assholes though...I'm staying far, far away from chimps and dolphins regardless of the reasons behind their frequent terribleness)

I disagree. The fox is not a domestic animal even if it was born in captivity. It took the Russians generations to domesticate the foxes they were working on. This fox is friendly and tame because it has been raised by humans from birth. That is not the same as domestication. The fact that this fox cannot be released into the wild is very sad. This is NOT a dog or a cat. It belongs and prefers to be in the wild. This little one can't so at least he got a life instead of being killed for fur. But he would have been much happier in the wild regardless of looking happy in videos. It is far from the happiest fox on earth. It is still a wild animal that got cheated out of a normal life. Hats off to these people for raising him because it is nowhere near as easy as raising a dog or cat.

I had a Cattle Dog puppy that pounced EXACTLY the way that little Fox does. It is one of the cutest things I've ever seen. I lost him at 17 Months to Epilepsy. I hope this little Fox has a LONG life with the humans who rescued it!

Such a happy creature! Us humans, we can learn a lot from this little fox. Clearly she has an amazingly positive attitude to life and other creatures. If only we could approach others as open and friendly as this fox. But, that would only work in a world where competition is not a factor, where there's no need to fight for survival. Life doesn't seem to work like that.
I do believe us humans, as civilized as we have become, have the potential to evolve into more kind beings, as long as the circumstances allow for this to happen.
Another funny thing is that, when pet owners are really committed and use the correct techniques, any pet animal can become friends with any other pet animal. My household is home to three cats, three guinnee pigs and two rabbits and they absolutely adore eachother.

We have always had the possibilities and the means to shape our human world in sync with all other beings on this planet and the earth itself. We have always had the choice to either care and give, or hurt and take. Unfortunately the latter have been the dominate factors throughout our history. Greed and ignorance are still too strong in us. But now in our present time, we urgently need to make the right choice. And we need to do it globally. We need to take a step up the ladder of consciousness. And we indeed have a lot to learn from the beings around us.
A person with open eyes can learn more about life from watching a beautiful little being like that fox, living and playing for an hour. Than by reading all the scientific books there are about life, nature, emotions, foxes, and why we are here. The little fox lives it.
