You don't need Elgato's new Camlink to use your DSLR or camcorder directly on your PC or Mac as a webcam, all you need is any capture card, like Elgato's own Game Capture HD, and the cables that come with it.

guys ive got a problem, ive done it precisely like u did but now no matter what i use : skype, zoom, normal windows camera or obs everywhere all kamera icons like the batery life, the zoom ,mode, menu etc. are wisible so what u see on ur kamera display (min 1:49) i see now on my computer screen as well, and other people i skype to etc. as well, how can i turn that of?

Can i use multiple capture cards. I recorded some footage with multiple canon camcorders and i couldn't believe how amazing the footage came out. I would love to be able to record directly into the computer.

Just randomly searching how to do this and coincidentally find you have the same camcorder as me, thanks for the advice.
how did u turn of that the icons, like the batery life, zoom, menu, etc. what u see on ur camera display isnt wisible on ur pc, ive aktivated my camera and now the image looks like the display with all the icons, but i only wane have the image (even if i take photos now with the windows camera app those icons are visible on it)
Go to settings then the menu that has output onscreen displays on it then go on it then turn it off

I don't have a capture card. I was Hoping to use my JVC Everio GZ-HM870BAA as a webcam on my Macbook M1 as a webcam through the USB port on it to connect to the Macbook and use as a webcam. Someone help or suggest a program that will work to use My JVC Everio as a webcam through USB on my Macbook without Firewire or anything.

I have a Panasonic HC Vx981 Camcorder.
I was trying to connect it straight from the Camcorders USB to the Laptops USB (HP Pavilion)
I disable the Laptops Camera but cant figure out to add Camcorder as my webcam.

I use the same camera, but the capture card is an avermedia, during the livestream i have a problem, that randomly it loses the signal, or the image is "buggy", is there anything that may be happening?
May be a bad HDMI cable. Did you try a differnt one?

Do I still need an external capture card to plug it in, or can I just plug in hdmi cable from my adapter to my monitor? (btw, my camcorder is a Canon Vixia HF R20. You cant just plug in into your monitor, because then you just see your camcorder on your screen. And a sd card it something totally different from a capture card, so you dont have a capture card built in.

Unfortunately no, you need some sort of capture card. If you can afford it, get the elgato camlink.

U should make sure your camera allows a clear output since you are using a capture card if it doesn't you might have to get a new one

Caveat: Some camcorders will NOT work as webcams on battery. The system will time out and shut down.

YOu don't need Camlink. Instead you need Game Capture HD, which is double the price as Camlink. What is the point of this video?
