I have the same camera and it's even easier, go to the same menu, go to Other Settings, 3rd menu page (with the tool icon) OUTPUT ONSCREEN DISPLAYS, turn it OFF and thats it
I actually have found why this is, open up menu go into settings and if you are using manul mode or cinematography mode (or film), you can find that in "others" there is an option to not output the layerd information, and thats how you can get rid of it, its still not a clean HDMI because it doesn't give out the max resolution, but good enough for a webcam. :D
Thanks for documenting this find! I now have an excellent webcam for my work meetings. Can confirm that this also works with the Vixia HF S200. Manual mode seems to be the thing to try.
You just stopped me buying another £800 camera. Thank you!!. I had spent hours trying to get rid of the display Info, but then put it into manual mode which opened other features to turn the display info to off mode. Thank you for sharing!! 🙏😎
Buona Sera Gianluca, vorrei chiederti che impostazioni hai settato su OBS, quindi nella scena, per arrivare a vedere il display della camera. grazie in anticipo
It also works on the Canon HF R20 camcorder. Just press the disp/bat button. Then click on the function, > then the wrench icon > then select output onscreen displays to off.
Hi Gianluca, thanks for this. You missed a step in the process. In "other settings" under the spanner, the "Output Onscreen Display" needs to be off. 👍
awesome thanks ! I have this camera and trying to use as webcam so great to know this.... but my problem is that my HDMI stream is connected to the HDMI port ( not usb ) on my HP envy laptop. but no software recognizes the camera is connected. how do I use the HDMI port on the computer rather than converting to USB ? thanks !
you don't, the HDMI port on your laptop is an output. what you require is a capture card, which usually connects to your computer via USB or PCI-E. as this is a laptop, you need a USB capture card.
I have a Canon VIXIA R600, and I’m trying to figure out a way to remove the onscreen controls while outputting the live feed on my capture card, is there any way to get rid of it? Thanks in advance!
having problems im using a micro hdmi to hdmi and a usb C adapter to plug to my computer but my computer doesn't recognize anything besides an adapter.....
Hello. Had issues streaming to UA-cam using OBS Studio as the bridge. I found this video. I did as instructed and the video streamed without issue. Good news. However the video is reversed. On the camera I see what is to be viewed writing and content. However on UA-cam the video is mirrored. The letters are reversed. How can this issue be corrected? Thanks
Excellent! There's a setting in the Canon Vixia HF R800 specifically to output a clean display, FYI. Slightly too much "noise" when the signal comes into my iMac and so I'm not going to use this method, but good to know it works. Thanks again.
I am trying to get my camera to broadcast to Facebook live using OBS but all I get is a black screen. Do you know how to fix this? I am using the hdmi to usb adapter and running the camera through that.
@@jamesklinestiver2452 Can you get good video from the camera with other applications, like Zoom or any other application, or is it only Facebook stream which is totally black?
@@richardbryanesq I can get good video from the camera app that comes with windows 10 but if I try to run it through OBS or even the official Canon webcam app all I get is a black screen. Even if I try to stream directly to facebook with the camera. Not streaming software, I get the black screen. Only thing that the camera seems to be working with is the camera app on windows 10.
@@jamesklinestiver2452 I would say there is an issue with the security and privacy settings of your computer. You have to update your security settings and specifically allow OBS and Facebook to access the camera. That’s to prevent a third-party software company from hacking into your camera and watching what you’re doing. Computer I go to settings, privacy and security, then scroll down to camera, and make sure the setting is on for OBS. see if that helps

I have the R20... although they don't promote it as a feature, I stumbled across a simple menu setting that turns off the OSD on the output. Works great. I don't recall the exact menu setting, but it was fairly obvious. It might be labeled OUTPUT ONSCREEN DISPLAYS as one of the posts above mentions.
