She looks just like her! I loved her acting in the end of the video. Lisa Eldridge I just wanted to tell you that your makeup technique is a breath of fresh air in this overly contoured and caky foundation routine cruel world.
I agree completely, I remember a time when makeup artists were all like this but now it's so refreshing to see, now all we see are Nikkitutorials style makeup artists.
Please do a Catherine Deneuve in Belle de Jour look! I've searched everywhere, asked most MUAs on UA-cam on nobody has done it. Will you, please? It's such an iconic look!
Fascinating. Lisa Eldridge is clearly at the top of the tree in her metier, persuasively demonstrating that this is a form of art, when one sees how subtle and sympathetic the decisions and application are in the preparation and the creation of the most mobile image in any film - the face. I am also so pleased to learn form this that the make-up artist for "The Birds" campaigned successfully for the craft to be officailly recognised by the film industry. Tippi Hedren is simply luminous in the film, and the reconstruction of her facial image witht this graceful professional model is breathtaking and eerie.
I was working with Sienna Miller and she was telling me all about her role in 'The Girl' playing Tippi Hedren. I've always loved the film and Tippis look so I thought it would be fun! I posted a picture on facebook last month to test the water and lots of people said "yes do it!" ... so here it is X
LohengrinTh It means the colors are on opposite ends of the color wheel. If you put one next to the other, they will make the other look brighter and more vibrant. If you mix them they will cancel each other out.
I have watched and studied the film for years for that is what one does with a masterpiece...I have met Ms. Hedren and perhaps I should not kiss and tell here but took the opportunity to kiss her on the cheek...she is so beautiful on many levels...you caught her look to the tee...she would I'm sure enjoy seeing this tribute to her special look!
These are (obviously) my favorite videos of yours. I applaud you for not only being a master of your craft but also knowing the HISTORY of it, which is so important to understand these vintage looks. We're not worthy.
A sublime recreation of Tippy's iconic-period makeup. Lisa's passion for the trade emanates. I love the artisan-archival research Lisa does prior to sharing the history with us. What a gift!
Oh my! This is an older video but I just had to write. You just got me choked up, Lisa! You did an amazing job. I was TERRIFIED of this movie as a girl but I simply adored Tippi. Thank you for sharing the torture she endured, as well. Your lovely model truly channeled Tippi with the phone and coat and I started to tear up. Lisa, you are ever an inspiration. Love from Seattle, WA.
I love all your videos, but this one is somehow my favorite. Your model is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for this look. Your respect for the art and history of your profession somehow even outshines her beauty. Your in-depth discussions of the history of makeup artistry and some of the artists of the past that have been unrecognized, or under-recognized, are the parts of your videos I feel that set you so far above not only most UA-cam, but even television an popular culture at large. So rarely do we get to watch a master at work, let alone one that shares so much of their process. We are so lucky to have someone so dedicated to her craft and exploring the intersection of things like film and fashion, trends and timelessness. You are a beauty historian, artist, professional...all in one! Thank you again and again for sharing with your audience. I feel so lucky to be part of that audience.
I LOVE the fact that you tell us also a bit of the stories behind the look, the movies, actors, directors involved etc. and that you chat away during the tutorials. That way we not only learn about make-up but also a bit of history, and improve our general knowledge :) brilliant! x
Svetlana is stunning. And I love the conversation you two had. It's great to see some interaction between you and your model. Such a great look....now I need to see the movie a again!! Thank you, as always for more inspiration. I think it's finally time to bite the bullet and buy myself that Paula Dorf brush. Ha!
I'd love to see more authentic Old Hollywood/50s looks! I've been trying to find the perfect look for a 50s ball I'm going to and although so far no tutorial quite matches my dress, I still love watching you do these vintage looks because of your wonderful plethora of knowledge of the era.
Superior video.. Love the intro with the info regarding Hitchcock and his leading ladies...Gorgeous tutorial .. Thank you for your dedication to Excellence..!!!!
Amazing look, so authentic and flawless. This model has an uncannily mid-century look too, she'd make a great model for a Catherine Deneuve or Grace Kelly tutorial. Perhaps Umbrellas of Cherbourg!
Clutch the pearls...OMG Tippi was soooo classy!!!! I love this video. I saw Tippi's name and got excited. Its a name that in my opinion isn't remembered as often as it should be. She was definately one of the best, though that time period was all about feminine beauty, and having class. Great job!!!
This is about the 10th time I have watched this video...My gosh.. I get so inspired when I watch it. I love how you have your own flair on vintage looks. Just fantastic!
Tippi Hedren I’d say was my first exposure to glamorous Hollywood. I always rented “The Birds” because I loved looking at her. I always remember the phone booth scene and how pristine her makeup looked while all the chaos is happening around her. I loved it!
OH Lisa!!! Thank you so much for paying homage to Tippi Hedren like this. I believe she was such an underrated actress. I think if her career hadn't stalled the way it did she would have been one of the most sought after actresses in Hollywood. Thank you so much it was a beautiful look and tribute!
This is SO amazing. I'll never get over how beautiful blue eye shadow looks on brown/hazel eyes. The accuracy of the palette that you chose for eyes/lips/nails is astounding too!
How amazing! She seems to embody the character to perfection at the end, especially with that swoop of the hair and of course your fantastic spot on rendition of that iconic makeup. That lip is gorgeous!
LOVED this tutorial! Can't believe how much she resembles Tippi. And the history lesson was such a great bonus. Plus you mentioned my favorite scene when she's on the playground and the birds gather behind her. Love, love, love!
It's so cool that you're a Hitchcock fan! And you are very knowledgeable about his filmmaking process which I am impressed by since I'm such a nerd and I look up all those things as well :)
one of my favorite Hitchcock movies bar none and you did Tippy such justice with this makeup look. I think you are by far the single most talented makeup artist on youtube. I truly appreciate all the history you give us in your videos, it shows that you love what you do so much, you take the time to study it and learn more about it and research, nothing short of amazing Lisa, thank you so much for making fantastic videos
The Birds is one of my all-time favorite movies! You did an excellent job re-creating the makeup! Simply beautiful. I love this video and your Marilyn Monroe video so much.
You are such a class act Lisa. I live in SF and am Hitchcock obsessed and was just re watching The Birds filmed in near by Bodega Bay. I was so inspired by Tippy Hendren's look in the film I wanted to recreate the looks and outfits. What wonderfully timed inspiration you've provided! Thank you for endlessly and chic tastes and talent!
Wow she does look like Tippi.Ironically I was just watching the birds.Tippi really was bombshell gorgeous.Phone and coat impressions, immaculately done .
I love when the models/actresses ask questions. Sometimes us average gals see these women as naturally perfect in every way. Your videos bring them down to earth - love that they are learning new things along with us!
this is a master work, i got goosebumps at the end when i see her look like Tippi from the Birds Hitchcock movie, coming alive. Kudos Lisa...you're the best *bow*
I think these days anything goes, we can try any look we feel like. 60's inspired make-up one day, no make-up make-up the next. The 60's is a big trend this spring in terms of fashion so if you feel like having fun with your make-up, try it one day. If you dont like it you can always wash it off, thats the beauty of make-up X
i love how you give us make up lessons and make up history as the background story. it makes your videos so much better than the typical tutorials! thanks lisa!
Oh my God Lisa, thank you so much for this tutorial! I always believed that such a sky blue eyeshadow was so on trend during the 50's-60's, and yet I hadn't seen anyone recommending such a colour for a makeup tutorial of that era. I'm so thankful in that you share with us your knowledge and history of makeup the way noone else has done so far!
I hope this "Hitchcock Heroines" is the start of a series you'll do of these! I adore Hitchcock's movies and love the idea of tutorials on looks from the heroines of the movies.
I love the the look Lisa, but also I have such admiration for the lengths you go to to in order to understand the emotion behind the make up. You are a total inspiration.
AMAZING!!!!! The ending with the phone and the seagulls screeching! And all the extra info about makeup artists and film and the all-powerful Hitchcock! Love this video!
I love how you use that powder puff so that you don't disturb her face makeup. I've never seen that before but it is such a good idea! Fantastic job on recreating this look!!
Absolutely gorgeous look! Your knowledge about how Hitchcock, Smit and Tippi worked made this video especially interesting to watch. I feel like I'm taking a class in Film history, and not just watching a makeup video on youtube! I really admire your depth of knowledge and your obvious passion for the makeup done in classic films! That was very intriguing to watch. Thank you so much Lisa! xxx
Lisa you are such an artist; the model looks just like Tippi at the end. Please, please do more makeup videos like this, I love seeing beautiful, iconic makeup looks brought to life through your videos.
I love how you immerse in the topic and always give us some really interesting background information to better understand the look. It's so classy and as always perfectly done!
I love this look, my mom had done one very similar for a dance performance once and i can remember thinking that she just looked flawless, exactly like this, i'm sure she did it on purpose as she loves this movie. I was very young when she had done that, about six or seven. Thank you for bringing back a bit of childhood for me :)
I enjoy so much watching your videos, because not only the make up artistry is incredible, but you always educate us with the stories behind a certain look or character!
Genuinely fabulous video. I'm not the hugest fan of makeup but seeing your passion for what you do and the storytelling in your videos keeps me coming back for more!
This was absolutely lovely. What a gorgeous model, and your talent as a makeup artist made her look just like Ms. Hedron. The Birds is my second favorite Hitchcock movie with Rear Window being my absolute favorite. Thank you.
I'm going to rewatch The Birds to see the blue shadow. I'm pretty obsessed with the idea of having "a flash of colour" that can only be seen when the eyes are closed or looking down because I'm not one to use color on the lid but I would like to if it was very subtle
She looks just like her! I loved her acting in the end of the video. Lisa Eldridge I just wanted to tell you that your makeup technique is a breath of fresh air in this overly contoured and caky foundation routine cruel world.
+Loza Loza exactly my thoughts! I just discovered her this week, and I have fallen in love with her approach...it is how makeup should be.
Yes yes YES!!
I agree completely, I remember a time when makeup artists were all like this but now it's so refreshing to see, now all we see are Nikkitutorials style makeup artists.
JennyLucy beauty It's so true! Love this channel 😍
No. Ladies of the 50s 60s 70s and before cannot be compared with.
I love the historic commentary she has in this one. Makeup is more than makeup. Very cool.
I love how the Hitchcock blondes looked; so classy and sophisticated.
I would love to see more Hitchcock Heroines videos--I REALLY wish you would do a Grace Kelly tutorial. Please make this happen!
Please do a Catherine Deneuve in Belle de Jour look! I've searched everywhere, asked most MUAs on UA-cam on nobody has done it. Will you, please? It's such an iconic look!
Yes, that would be great.

This makeup look is magical.. the lip color has a mystical connection to the light blue eyeshadow color which I dont understand but it is magical
killeryory
wow didnt know that.. what does complementary mean.. how can someone know what color is complementary to another color?
It's like your photo. :-)
Caramel C
Orange is my most fav color.. in chakra pholosophy it is related to sexualism but it actually gives me hope and peace of mind
LohengrinTh yes, me too...
LohengrinTh It means the colors are on opposite ends of the color wheel. If you put one next to the other, they will make the other look brighter and more vibrant. If you mix them they will cancel each other out.
this blue, so elegant, just adorable.
I'm about to say I sentence I have never uttered before - "That powder blue eyeshadow looks great!" x
Absolutely flawless vintage mod makeup look! I adore the soft/blue/brown eye dramatic eye. Stunning makeup, stunning model, stunning artist XOXO

Phone and cost impeccably true.
Only you can make blue eyeshadow look so chic! Lovely model, she's a doll

being ignored... I am feeling so alone in cyberspace, LOL
I copied how Svetlana said it but I'm sure she was just being kind and giving me the easy to pronounce 'English version lol : ) X
Amazing look, so authentic and flawless. This model has an uncannily mid-century look too, she'd make a great model for a Catherine Deneuve or Grace Kelly tutorial. Perhaps Umbrellas of Cherbourg!
Oooh,I second this! Umbrellas of Cherbourg - another Technicolor masterpiece!
Don't know why, her face reminds me of Tippi Hedren's.
Clutch the pearls...OMG Tippi was soooo classy!!!! I love this video. I saw Tippi's name and got excited. Its a name that in my opinion isn't remembered as often as it should be. You should do a Lana Del Rey makeup tutorial on Svetlana, she looks so much like her already!
Yeah especially the nose
Svetlana... Total name, please?
This is SO amazing. I'll never get over how beautiful blue eye shadow looks on brown/hazel eyes. The accuracy of the palette that you chose for eyes/lips/nails is astounding too!
Beautiful!! You're very talented!!
How amazing! She seems to embody the character to perfection at the end, especially with that swoop of the hair and of course your fantastic spot on rendition of that iconic makeup. That lip is gorgeous!
Like you said - went from innocent and young to sophisticated, complex, interesting and intelligent.
LOVED this tutorial! Can't believe how much she resembles Tippi. And the history lesson was such a great bonus. Plus you mentioned my favorite scene when she's on the playground and the birds gather behind her. Love, love, love!
Lisa Eldridge This is my favorite look of yours! Tres tres chic and very accurate!
I love that you provide us not only with an education of applying makeup, but also the history of makeup. Truly extraordinary look Lisa, as always.

Gorgeous! I actually named my dog Tippi Hedren. The one I had before her I had named Hitchcock. Huge inspiration in my life.
Danni Glamour call me a copycat, but I kind of want to name a dog Tippi now. 😂
Will Greigh Do it! I have a Brussels Griffon and she's adorable!
WOW what a true likeness to Tipi and her character in this classic film, love it!

it would have been really cool to see this look done on Dakota Johnson, Tippi's granddaughter.
That model is just the cutest thing!!!! I love her nose!! Wish mine looked that perfect.
I love The Birds. I love what a relentless stalker Tippi's character is :D
Yes definitely a touch of the vintage Barbie about this look X

I love Tippi’s whole look in the Birds (and Marnie). You did a great job.
This was so interesting and it’s amazing how much the model ended up resembling Tippi!
The bird sounds at the end... chills! Beautiful makeup and styling. Thank you so much for sharing.
I enjoy so much watching your videos, because not only the make up artistry is incredible, but you always educate us with the stories behind a certain look or character!
Wow! After watching The Birds and Marnie, I can really appreciate how well you recreated this look! Bravo!
Genuinely fabulous video. I'm not the hugest fan of makeup but seeing your passion for what you do and the storytelling in your videos keeps me coming back for more!
Lisa the way you mix makeup, art, history and culture it's just so refreshing. So bored of ignorance and superficiality.
This was absolutely lovely. What a gorgeous model, and your talent as a makeup artist made her look just like Ms. Hedron. The Birds is my second favorite Hitchcock movie with Rear Window being my absolute favorite. Thank you.
This is so good!! I used to watch The Birds with my mom every time it came on!! Great recreation!!
I'm going to rewatch The Birds to see the blue shadow. I'm pretty obsessed with the idea of having "a flash of colour" that can only be seen when the eyes are closed or looking down because I'm not one to use color on the lid but I would like to if it was very subtle
Svetlana is so beautiful. This look suits her perfectly. I hope you never stop making videos, Lisa!
Love this! Absolutely love this subtle elegance of vintage makeup.
