- We just got back from the trip to Azuza Canyon so its time for a damage report.
Not surprisingly, some things broke, got bashed, and need to be fixed. Luckily this gives me an excuse to work on my trusty 572ci big block GMC Jimmy. Afterall, I have my own shop and this channel, so we might as well take advantage before the man comes and shuts us all down.

I love how Zach has a Lift, but continues to NOT use it.
I don’t think it’s finished it’s missing the support that ties the posts in on the top

Easy repair for the turn signals: ‘Borrow’ some BMW badges from Vin (or Audi ones from Scotto), put them on the truck, job done
When the silt in Azusa canyons gets wet it turns into quick sand. That’s when the mud gets crazyyyyyy. Also id look into the ord steering box brace too.
Sitting here cleaning my carburetors off my 61 Lakewood wagon and watching new chop daddy content. Life’s good 🙂

It is so easy to find yourself on the spiral slide into bankruptcy when you own any vehicle but;
an even faster ride when you mod/upgrade them.
I do appreciate the old vehicles a lot more than the overly complicated new stuff offered these days.
However, that has always been the case with manufacturers...
...50's-60's-70's-80's-90's...but from 00's on, it has been turned up to 11!
Hopefully we get so see some tahoe content, ive only seen it on the dyno and thats it!

Zach I think you need to upgrade this sucker to a blitzkrieg motorsports coil over straight axle setup and deavers with bypasses in the rear, and 14 bolts front and rear while you’re at it
Do the frssh steering but get hyrdro assist. Makes a massive improvement especially with that much traction and power in 4wd

Rear main and trans pump seals will be leaking in no time too after a couple sandy water crossings. I’d go ahead and get the full shebang from ORD. Crossover set up, frame repair kit and steering box brace. Every k5 I owned had at least one crack from a steering box bolt hole, except my 2wd 😂. Playing in Azusa canyon will get expensive and time consuming doing maintenance real fast

Decent upgrade for squarebodys is a jeep xj steering shaft. Same splines and gets rid of the crappy gm rag joints

While you are doing the shackles and bushings. Do the b52 kit for the front! You'll save some coin in the long run if you do it now
My 90’s NorCal pick-and-pull brain still says all that junk in the suspension will still bolt in, and the truck will run.

Have you considered upgrading your suspension comfort, a little bit, by replacing the leaf spring shackle with sliders? Also a set of Sumo Springs bump stop replacements.
Maybe you could work with Lee Power Steering in Santa Clarita, CA to get one of the best steering box made. Their boxes are already set up for hydraulic assisted steering too.
Should pump some water out into that "mud hole" the night before a meat up. Not enough mud to really brake stuff.
Im kinda glad it was so dry otherwise my wallet would be hurting far worse

Good luck with the intake leak. My smeding motor has had the intake off 5 times and it still leaks. Seems to seal up when the motor is on though.

Like on my 05 Jeep, 50 dollar harmonic balancer replacement somehow turned into a cam swap,head swap etc painting the front end since i already had to take the grille of etc. .... 😅

You are not gonna want to use a crank trigger if you are going to be doing water or mud crossings. The signal cant go through it and the engine will die and wont be able to start again.
He can do an internal crank trigger via the timing chain and cover. Vortec 454's use them 96-97and up
