    I watched your toy decluttering video and it finally gave me the permission I needed to go through my six year old daughter's toys. I did not think we had a hoard of toys but i got rid of SIX trash bags of toys. The most shocking part, she has not missed anything! She is usually very observant (when you don't want her to be!) But she truly did not miss anything! It is amazing watching her pick up right away instead of being overwhelmed! Thanks for taking the fear out of decluttering toys!

    I really appreciate that you are calm, casual and down to Earth, and that you are showing the process realistically and that you share common problems we encounter with decluttering, it's not a one and done type of job, it needs to be maintained more frequently than we expected.
    Side rant, I don't mind Clutterbug Cass' upbeat personality and silliness because she's actually naturally quirky and funny whereas in so many channels for women there is a forced, obnoxious and fake quirkiness and "yaas girl" or "yaas queen" and talking while sipping and chewing along with constant tangents type of show put on or the whisper talking, humble bragging picture perfect home and boring aesthetic ones...social media seems to be flooded with copy paste stuff like that so it's even more special to come across a video that is not like that.

      Thank you! This is very encouraging to hear. I agree that it’s very easy to pick up on authenticity (or lack of it). I love watching quirky people too (when it’s genuine), but I know that’s not really me.

    I recently decluttered my children's toys and found that after emptying 3 of the IKEA TROFAST boxes, my kids started using them as hiding spots and for play. With fewer toys in their room, I noticed they gravitated towards the books more often, even my one-and-a-half-year-old. My older child developed an interest in animal figures, so I bought more for "educational purposes". However, I've observed that he doesn't play with them as much as he did when he only had a few.
    This is such a great video, I will surely binge the rest of them! 😊

    Thanks for this video I really enjoyed it, so lovely to see a minimalist mama and her children doing all the normal stuff, I feel seen! I really like the storage/ organisation on your closet door- so clever!
    Trash therapy is great, it always helps me feel like I can keep moving forward. We have all just been sick with norovirus and I was really motivated to keep decluttering and simplifying to make our home easier to clean and manage. When I found Dana K White and her No Mess Method it really changed things for me so that I could actually act and keep spaces declutterred. It’s made me much more intentional and I love that whenever you get interrupted/ life happens/ nappy changes you’ve always made progress and never a bigger mess! Hooray 🥳
    ‘You can keep it for your baby’ so sweet! I love trying to challenge myself to get my children involved because it helps them too.

    Really inspired by your video and it gives me new motivation to go a little deeper in our house! I appreciate the videos you share and the insight to decluttering more!
    One thing I'd like to comment on in a constructive way: I'm sure you are probably trying to have your video fit in a certain time frame, however the speed in which you share the information goes a bit too fast to really absorb it. Dealing with an already overwhelmed state of mind (due largely to a cluttered life!) it can make what you are sharing just bounce around in the head more and harder to grasp. I may be the only one dealing with this difficulty, but in case others are too, it would be much appreciated if you slowed down a smidge!

    I get married in less than 6 weeks. I have done numerous declutters over the last few years particularly in the last 2 knowing i would be moving in the nearish future. I now need to start my final pre-move declutter!
    When i was a teen we moved cross country and we brought so much random stuff with us. My first time or two of doing deep declutters was mostly getting rid of stuff that shouldnt have been moved in the first place. My goal with this move is not to repeat the experience. I think it will be a two step process: once now while nothing is being moved, then going through everything a second time as i start to shift everything to the new house

Most decluttering videos just show before and after(s) without explaining a path to get there in an organized way. I liked that you included techniques from Dana K. I always thought this is not happening to me, I hardly ever buy stuff, I have a small appartment and I'm rather using up the things that I have before getting a replacement. But I had to sort out my attic recently because I was storing stuff for somebody, and I realized I did have paperworks from 20 years past up there, bank slips and what not. At least I don't need to think about if I want to keep it or not, that decision was easy.

    I would totally have repurposed that cute book holder.. Throwing away things that still have useful life left feels gross, and wasteful. At the very least it would go into the donate pile, sans books but it could still be useful to someone else as a desk organiser, etc. Having things end up in landfills is a big no no to me. I see your struggle but we also have a care to be mindful of environmental impact. I guess we all choose our struggles, don't we? 😕

    • @lamoinette23
      @lamoinette23 26 днів тому +1

      The most obvious use to me though was to put it aside and keep it in good condition for when all the kids books get sold or donated and another family gets the books in the original box for their own kids. You did make the rules, and were pushing getting rid of 500 items, but some things that are still in good condition, have an actual purpose and will later in their time still have use are not things to throw away. Also, only a fraction of "recyclables" actually get recycled. Don't throw away perfectly useful items for likes. It's wasteful. While I totally get the need to clean, be minimal etc.. DON'T BUY IT if you are just going to throw it away. We all need to stop wasting valuable resources. Books can be borrowed from the library. Or use an electronic edition (also fraught with issues but.. it's what we have as an alternative)

    • @lamoinette23
      @lamoinette23 26 днів тому

      @@laura-s3v A very large percentage of items don't actually end up being recycled. Plus throwing away things that still have a use is wasteful. I get your point, but.. it isn't always the way it seems.

      That's a great question! I'm not sure if I've ever shared the logistics of my work, but I walked through the process I went through to simplify and slow down in my video titled: "The Proven Approach to Simplify Life With Kids." I think that's a good place to start when you're trying to figure out a roadmap for your own family and home.
      As for the logistics of keeping up with videos and such, I have help! My in-laws watch the kids two days a week, which allows me to focus and be uninterrupted when I work. That's a huge help! I know there are lots of folks who manage to fit it in without childcare, but that's not my experience.
      I also say no to A LOT of stuff in order to live slowly. For instance, videos with heavy research take me 8-10 weeks to produce. So, rather than make myself crazy trying to post videos weekly, I'll sometimes go months without posting.
      I hope that provides some useful context! I think your question strikes at the heart of my channel and how I'm hoping to help people. I hope future videos will be useful to you in your journey!
