Just a tip. I found at our Dollar Tree Store they have cutting boards that are very thin. They come 2 for a dollar. They make awesome cutting templates, especially if you plan to use for more than just one quilt.
Brilliant suggestion thanks!
I have used them for templates, and it works well.
Our $ store has the small 28 mm rotary cutters & mats that are 6'' X 8''.
They also have small rotary cutters
Thank you Misty. As most beginner/intermediate quilters are afraid of curves (myself included) you have laid this out so easily that I have to give it a try. Not to mention I have a Mom who loves lemon everything, that she would skin me if she found out about this pattern and I didn't make it for her. Thank you again.
I just finished this! I was surprised how well it came together. The trimming after sewing the curves was a game changer. Everything was the right size. That never happens.😊
This is my favorite collaboration that I have seen on At Home with Misty. The honesty of both artists/instructors about their processes is so down to earth and relatable. You both made this pattern far less scary than it looks. I have always been afraid of the drunkards path template. Thanks for letting us learn and feel encouraged.😊
Thank you! I've always been AFRAID of curves!
Oh man, I totally understand the fear of curves. Heck, I am still battling keeping a 1/4" seam. LOL Have to try this though.
My mom had a gorgeous lemon tree in her yard. Not a typical S.C. Tree. Will have to make this in her memory.
Yes, make it. I try to keep, & make things that reminds me of my beloved Mom, precious daughter, & wonderful great aunt. That way it helps me feel better, even though they passed away. Good idea 💡 Kathy Thompson. 🥭😇🍋
What a cheery block! I'd like to shrink it slightly and make a set of hotpads for the kitchen or add one to a kitchen towel or even have a row of them as a border on an apron. Or take 4 to make a big block for a mat for the table.
The curves don't bother me since I've made clothing and the curve is the same thing as working a sleeve. If it's for a child, the sleeve hole has an even smaller curve. That said, the way it was presented is an excellent way for first time tackling a curved seam. The biggest trick is being careful to not stretch the edge by over handling the pieces.
This is a darling quilt. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely quilt. Bright and happy. I watched the video and then ordered everything to make a lap size quilt. I appreciate the demo videos so much. I will re-watch when I’m ready to start the quilt. Thank you so much for the tutorial. :)
So beautiful! My first quilt was Jenny’s circle quilt! It was a queen size quilt. I sewed it on a sewing machine that my mother bought me when I was twelve! 168 circles later I can sew curves better than a straight seem!
It sounds like it would be a good idea for MSQC to make some templates for this quilt - I'm sure they'd be popular!
Lemon slice earrings!!! How cute!!!
Thank you both, love this quilt . We also have a beautiful lemon tree right outside my sewing room window . I am always so grateful we have it . Its never gets old , picking a lemon from your own tree.
And a slice of lemon in hot water and my favorite lemon cream pie!
Use a glue stick and glue the arch to the curve. Ssw the curve It’s will make a perfect block.
We have a lemon tree, and since we are about 80 miles north of San Francisco we have lemons all the time. I saw this video and fell in love with this little quilt. My grandson loves to eat lemons, l would love to have this quilt up on the wall in our living room. I know that would make him happy. Thank you!
Adorable pattern! I looked at it, saw the drunkards path and initially thought the leaf was just appliquéd. Surprise! I know many quilters have never made clothing but for me the curved line sewing is very similar to doing a set-in sleeve. I’ve used that comparison when talking to others who are intimidated by the curved lines and that helped them get over the fear.
I Love this quilt! On my 'to make' list. Many thanks.
Going to try curves again, love this quilt. 😀
Thank you, Fran and Misty. This is a beautiful pattern!
This Quilt & story is Adorable ❣️ Thank You so Much, 🥰 Chris
Fun video with 2 talented gals!!
You’re definitely correct about the size 28 rotary cutter…it really does make cutting easier on smaller pieces and on paper. I found this out a while back as well. It’s especially helpful on curved pieces.
You have made curves look easy. I need to try them.
Have always been afraid of curves too. But, I LOVE this quilt! Guess it is time to give curves a try!
Summertime, here I come! Can't wait to make this 🍋🤩🍋🤩
Such a refreshing block! TY Fran and Missy🌞🧵
Thank you this is si interesting and the quilt is so summery
I am SO GLAD you did this tutorial. Thank you Misty!! I have admired this pattern since Fran first published it, but have always been intimidated by curved piecing like this. Now I am confident if I buy the pattern I can make this quilt. I think my BFF would love one of her own. I can make twin quilts, with her background colour of choice, and I will do mine in something like mint green. Chef’s kiss 😘 !!!
I love this. Such a happy springy quilt pattern. Thank you both. 💛🍋
I LOVE the lemons so much!!! Such a pretty and bright quilt! I’ll have to check this out.
Such a beautiful tribute and gorgeous quilt!
Woww it's delicious. Thank you👏👏
Great Pattern, love this one!
Loved seeing Fran. Great Lemon Quilt Pattern
Thank you Fran! Great pattern! I love this tutorial with both of you. The way you both worked together to explain what to do and why is great! Thank you Misty too! I love these tutorials! Can't wait to get this pattern and sew this for my kitchen!!
I've had this pattern for a couple years and was too afraid to try it. Thanks for this tutorial, I'm excited to start this quilt now.
I think this would be so pretty with a dark background and spring green leaves.
Thank you, cant wait for more fruits to come :)
Oh yay!! I’ve had this pattern for years but have been too intimated by it. So excited you did a tutorial!! 👏🏻👏🏻💗
Beautiful quilt
This is so cute! And like Lindsay Schilling said, On my list to make. Thank you for sharing, both of you. Blessings to all y'all.
Such a cute pattern. I have tons of citrus here in Phoenix, and never thought about doing a lemon quilt. Thanks to the tutorial, totally looks doable.
I might be willing to attempt curved seams for this quilt. The large lemons are giving me confidence
Love this quilt it feels like summer smile 😍Love the fabric choice too!!!
The pieces left over from cutting the "arch" would be great leaves to applique onto a darker background.😊
How fun! I also do paper crafting using quilt patterns and this would make a gorgeous card front for a cheery greeting.
Thank you. I think this is so sweet.
I could make an oranges 🍊 quilt, a plum, a lime, a kiwi as well. Sew cute. 🥭🍋🍊🍑🍈🥝🍍🍎🍉🍏🍐🥑🍒
Misty this reminds me of a Tulip Quilt my husband’s grandfather made for him for our wedding gift. It’s a Tulip Quilt.
Maybe making tutorial for a TULIP QUILT because spring is so near might be an awesome idea for one of your weekly tutorials?
I love to see a spring quilt done in tulips!!!!
This was such a joy to watch! Thank you 😊
No need to pin. No need to stretch fabric (please don't!). No pinning is the easiest, most accurate method. I have made many curved quilts. I was first taught to pin. It took forever and turned me off from doing curves. Then I got a Sew Kind of Wonderful ruler where the blocks are slightly oversized and you construct them without pinning. After you sew them, you trim down and they're perfect! Now it's a joy to sew curves.
Love this pattern, the video & Fran! Thank you!
our local Dollar Tree have them for $1.25. If you rarely need a small cutter this works awesomely.
What a great quilt!
i love this quilt it is beautiful
Another great fun project
I love this!!!
And if you rounded the bottom square of the lemon instead of a square, you could do pears! 🍐
Nice & bright
Please give credit to the Fran and her links. This is a beautiful quilt.
Where can I read the name of your guest, please?
Can we use MSQ template? Which one?
Hi.
will it work with MSQ drunkards path template I have the large and small?
Yes! That would work perfectly.
Can you tell me where to find the pattern for the white quilt with stars that you have on your lap in the beginning of this video thanks
I would love to know too.
Pretty sure it is the Tiny Wonky Star quilt. ua-cam.com/video/JLW-DPSGc98/v-deo.html
Hi Misty , I got a question for you. Could you or Jenny please teach me how to thread up my Baby Lock Jazz2 machine. It comes with instructions but I just don't get it. Would you please do a tutorial on threading it from the beginning and please tell me all the ins and outside of it. Also please get your sweet husband to film this close enough I can see it but not so close I can't make out what part you are threading. I know this is probably the craziest request you have gotten but I really need your help. I'm 71 years old with diabetes that has effected my eyes and how well I see but, I love to work on my quilt tops and can't because I forgot how to thread the machine. I have used many machines in my life and I just can't get this one where it will work. I'm doing something wrong and just can't figure it out. Help !!😥
Hope this is helpful… ua-cam.com/video/UwLpz02Ynxg/v-deo.html
