When you said no down pipe, no tune, I figured the Z06 would walk the Bimmer. I'm impressed. I know the M5 is a beast, but this was surprising.
Idk, the C8 Z06 is kind of wimpy. And this is coming from a GM owner and fan. The ZR1 and Zora will be nice. I bet the Eray would even smoke a Z06.

@CraigPatersonII yeah, the Z06 has issues getting off the line. The Eray should beat it from a dig. But not on a roll. The M5 is just really under rated. A guy I go to meets with has an M5 with a down pipe and tune, no other performance mods. He dynoed at over 700 whp. BWM way under rates their engines.
I drive an M4 that BMW rates at 425hp. If you read the small print, it actually says it's a minimum of 425hp across the rpm range. Mine dynoed just over 500whp with an OTS tune.
As a c8z06 owner I call BS!! That M5 is tuned, u can't change the intakes without tuning the car it would lean out and blow up.😂😂 anything to say they beat a z06.

Won't gain worth of anything and will run rich but it can be done. You know its not tuned as the car is capped a 155mph. Also a C8Z lacks the top end of a C7Z which has been proven countless of times on a roll race. Dont be butt hurt move on.
M5 like most bimmers, is such an overachiever, considering it's heavy AF! I was definitely surprised and certainly impressed with the M5!!
Also lets not forget bmw habbit of under rating the hp of them. 📍

I'd like to see if a Z06 non-convertible without the Z07 package would fair any better. Those M5s never disappoint in the top end.
The wing in the rear did not help the Vette, that's for sure. Although I must say the Chevy looks wicked. Very cool design it has.

Intakes do almost nothing without a tune.
@@executiveinvestments There is no tune that will require the intakes. None of these intakes have ever done anything, except make you hear the whoosh under load and blow more dust into your engine. OEM intakes on these cars provide more than enough air, and have absolutely no restriction.

Ive seen many ppl put I takes on boosted cars with no tunes. Gt500, hellcats, c7 z06, etc... same reasons with this m5. Warranty.
Stock z06 does 7.4-7.5 60-130
Stock M5 does 8.0-8.2 ……
The M5 either has a jb4 or dme unlocked on stg 1 ots.
The Z06 is a lot lighter, way better aero dynamics & has 50 more hp lol. I completely refuse to belive this sh*t. I own a 22’ F90 stock fastest I got 8.0 at 55F -400 DA. When I unlocked the dme’s on stg 1 I did 7.2-7.3 on 93 pump lol……. Or the Vette don’t know how to drive.

I'm surprised it did as well as it did, since I'm well aware that this car wasn't made for straights. It was made to lap tracks quickly. It's slower on the high end than most supercars, but quick af accelerating from low speeds, because that's better for tracks. And it handles that low end acceleration amazingly, which is why it puts up impressive lap times. Not every car is made for high speed straights like simple minded people think. "Expensive sports car = should be faster than everything straight line". No.
@@jasonh8212 maybe brand new with every possible option💀 but most of the time hell no, msrp was around 100k and they can be found clean title in the 60s used unlike the overpriced c8z.

Dig race would be close too as M5s do 10 sec 1/4 and 2.x 0-60 on the street stock proven by multiple channels. CS variant puts up respectable times for its size/weight as well. We'll see how "impressive" it really is when chevy isnt scared to throw it on the nurburgring like any other brand, where every part of the car gets pushed extensively for miles on end. not some 2 mile track in the middle of nowhere where no other brand benchmarks but them 😴🤣

I wasn’t a fan of the new corvette being NA and having that low torque amount. Corvette definitely made this car for the road course and that’s a shame especially because there nearly impossible mod 🤷🏼♂️ but they are beautiful and sound great tho

So many people think the m5 has to be tuned....LCI m5s aren't even tuneable yet unless you mail your DMEs to Finland.

There is .5 seconds difference. Zo6 should be faster no matter what if both is STOCK.
@@thesaifcreations9111 z06 runs lower 150s in the half mile. f90 runs mid to upper 150s in the half mile. Ive raced them. Seen these results in person. My tuned f10 m5 also runs the same as the z06. Take from that what you will.

M5s are insane
Great video! I also have an e90 M5 Competition and done a lot of roll racing. Unlike the M5's of the past (F10 and e60), you will get much better performance from your e90 if you let the car race in auto mode. The kickdown is nasty and the shifts are much cleaner.
For instance, I barely lose to one particular car in manual mode (Audi R8), but in automatic mode I crush the same car, same night, same conditions. It's night and day. Give it a try next time.

This is facts. Corvettes always had this problem even in the C7Z, the only one that don’t is the C6ZR1 but I guess corvettes are more track cars now and days

German Cars were and still are always notorious for superior top end, especially BMWs, I guess the German Autobahn is to blame!
German cars have to be stable and can handle doing high speeds for long periods of time without heating up or breaking down, thus they usually have superior brakes too.

The reason the z06 didn't do as well in a straight line is the z07 package adds too much downforce for it to be a straight line racer. Go watch the z06 with zo7 pack on the track vs the M5 comp. lol
The gearing on the C8Z, just like the C7Z, just doesn’t lend itself to high end roll racing. Nonetheless, it was fun to watch.

I own a C8 Z-06 and have raced my buddy, with a tuned dp 2door M5 comp series He’s a nut and I pull away from him dig or roll race, BMR is fast as hell and it’s close but not the results I just watched this driver started that roll at 3000rpm, Z’s power band is 4800-8600 I didn’t hear that car screaming like it should’ve been

Win win for me lol Vettes are my favorite car and I just became a BMW guy a couple of years ago so win or lose both are great cars and honestly more even matched then you might think. Z06 needs to drop that wing to fair better.

Good race, I was expecting the Vette to win based on the HP and weight, but German engineering! So that Coyote that beat the stock M8 must of been on spray. Don't the M5 and M8 share the same engine?
Not really sure what race you guys are watching but I saw a m5 take a half car jump the first race and still get walked, then started half car ahead the second race. Either way the bimmer had a jump or head start on both and still even with all that twin turbo to still couldn’t pull away!

What engineers continue to do with naturally aspirated engines is amazing. The fact that we have n/a vs forced Induction races all over the internet and they are good races says all that needs to be said. Both great machines but that vette is so impressive

Is that Z06 broken in yet? Something doesn't click with a 4200 lb car beating a 3600 lb car making similar power. The M5 has the turbo torque, but that Z06 should have it beat with the gearbox and throttle response. Maybe it's just me, but it sounds like the vette is short shifting, which makes sense if it's not broken in yet.
BMW is one of the fastest in the street right now no doubt but the ZO6 didn't look like he was starting at the same time or even downshifting
