Great design Mary, plenty of room for the rabbit habit and the partition will keep privacy so one doesn't get jealous of the other getting a little more.
***** Did some quick calculating. If I had to buy new you are into about $60 per hole. Sounds bad. But wait. TSC is asking for $50 a hole and their materials are flimsier gauge. If I go DIY with regular rabbit wire, I am into $40 for the wire alone. I still have to come up with a support system. So lets see. self supporting just screwer to the wall. heavier gauge materials so the life will be longer. Easy construction it appears. All in all if I was going to build a rabbitery from scratch this is the way I would do it. Again impressive.
BeaverRick the poo falls threw the wire so there is very little cleaning that needs done, sawdust would just fall threw the bars,we will be putting in some hay and nestboxes this winter so they can stay cozy
Like your setup but during winter you may want to change the tile out for a piece of wood the tile will get cold faster. But love your setup keep up the good work I need to work on my chicken pin lol
I like them cages better then them other cages you buy at farm stores way to think out side the box Mary And John tell the next 1 God bless YOU and all that is under your roof
I like your cages much nicer than any I have ever built or owned in the past. I used to raise a new zealand/california mix. I put chunks of wood in the cages to give them something to chew on also mounted the salt blocks on wood. I noticed you dont have salt blocks in your cages, do they get salt in their feed?
I watched your other video first then this one. I was wondering how you were going to hang the grow out cage in the barn, until I saw this video. I have been looking into replacing 8 of my home made cages, this design will give the rabbits a little more room, and after pricing the wire shelving materials I will spend less than I would on all wire cages at the feed store. and these will last a lot longer. thank you for shearing these videos
Great idea on the top door. I hate trying to reach into my cages and grab my rabbits because my arms are just barely long enough to reach the far back corner.
Thanks I made my rabbit house (cage) with your info You have the best choice: fast to build and super secure against predators Thanks Keep sharing your knowledge Is great brother I send you my gratitude
John -- you and Mary never cease to amaze me with your ingenuity! Gawd -- those are WAAAY better than any commercial rabbit cages I've seen. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Those look like they would be pretty heavy-duty predator proof too. Just put some sticks in the cages for the rabbits to chew on and they *should* leave the mesh alone. Maybe.
I have tried the board-for-their-feet approach a few times. I do feel sorry for them regarding their feet on that wire all the time, but it's been my experience, 100% of times, that they will sit on that board when they pee and poop and sit in the pee and poo all the time and get urine burns and infections. Rabbits don't seem really bright. It looks like you have a good set-up though.
thank you for this video!!! we have tons this stuff i picked up at a yard sale a few years ago!! and i thought i was going to use it for closets....lol
Did you ever have a problem with the rabbits chewing on the shelving material? I am about to make cages and wanted to check about that. Also wanted to check it there is an easy way to install a pan underneath?
Thank you so much for this video. I have been wracking my brain about how to build some rabbit hutches. This is a wonderful design. Excited to get started on it! Want you to know also that I appreciate all your videos and that our family prays for yours. :)
I wonder if you have a problem with the adult poop pellets dropping through the wire bottom? Also do you have a problem with the rabbits chewing the plastic coating over the wire?
Hay I want to thank you for doing the video about the pork loin I had never thought of that we did it and got 15 meals out of the three loins we got so thank you so much
Hey jnullo---IF you get worms (red wigglers) and put them under the rabbit cages-( they eat rabbit droppings)--you could raise worms---for GOOD WORM FERTILIZER
Do you have an issue with splay leg in these cages? Wanting to make the transition and getting a lot of people in our rabbit group saying this will happen?
Very nice cage idea. I love it man. Did you use hog rings for the top lid hinge, couldn't tell for certain. Thanks for the video. Beautiful and healthy looking bucks. :).
8 years later and this is still the best rabbit cage ever! Brilliant!
Excellent!
I hope I can get a hold of some wire shelving too!
Thats great repurposing of them wire shelves will start collecting them...
great idea for rabbit cages , will be doing this when i get some rabbits . tks
Two happy bucks for a few bucks and some scrap material. Thinking outside of the box, to create a box......brilliant!
Mary did a great job!

Cool idea!

Those are better than anything I have seen retail. This could be a nice little income for you!
awesome great idea
John, you are now officially a cageologist.
Using that shelve material was a really smart idea. Congrats on a job well done.
Marry did a fantastic job!! Impressive!!!
Them turned out really nice Jon, Put some sawdust or some thing down it will make cleaning the bottom easier later on.
BeaverRick the poo falls threw the wire so there is very little cleaning that needs done, sawdust would just fall threw the bars,we will be putting in some hay and nestboxes this winter so they can stay cozy
Yes I ment on the floor, It does help shoveling it up easier.
Thats Kick ass....
Like your setup but during winter you may want to change the tile out for a piece of wood the tile will get cold faster. But love your setup keep up the good work I need to work on my chicken pin lol
I think you solved a dilemma for cleanliness problems for many, many rabbit owners!
Great idea, kudos to all of you for building a great cage.
You are so creative and good with your hands
That cool
I actually made one from watching your video so thank you so much for sharing turned out amazing God bless you brother
I ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS,THANKS
nice cage I think I mite make one like it for a grow out pen
could you use zip ties to build it
Cory Riddle That crossed my mine too. But the rabbits may chew through them. jmho
Cory Riddle we wired it but zip tied to hold it together till the wiring was done
Cool thanks I thought it would make it much faster
I absolutely LOVE how these rabbit cages were done. Great job!
oh that's neat
That's the best looking rabbit cage I ever saw in my life! Now, that is what I call 'up-town' rabbit living.
Awesome cage out of scraps.. Nice job!
Built my cage yesterday . So glad I finally did it . Thank you dude that just raises rabbits lol
Put things to good use.
Great job Mary. Looks like John and Greg did a outstanding job on mounting it. Looks like your 2 bucks are very happy
Pie are round cake are square. Great video, thanks.
You and Mary are Master Cageologists!! :)
Dyno-mite!! Great use of the scrap shelves. My landlord has a massive scrap pile, it's like a hardware store without the customer service. Cheers!!
great thanks for sharing
I wonder if shelves from an old fridge would work too? Great pens for the rabbits and chicks, but do you think they would work for like ducklings?
Very nice cage!
Wow, that's nice!
I like them cages better then them other cages you buy at farm stores way to think out side the box Mary And John tell the next 1 God bless YOU and all that is under your roof
I just discovered your channel. These cages are awesome! I can hardly wait get to making some of these for my rabbits. Thanks for sharing this!!!

I like that cage, I could even do that! Good job.....
Great job on the cage. They just need a bar and tv now and the boys will be set.
Great idea! Cages turned out nice, I'm going to share with a friend that raises rabbits, too. Thanks
As I commented on another video of yours, BRILLIANT. Wondering if I can adapt this for quail...
Love it!!!!!!
great work Dude..
AWESOME!
Hey John & Mary...That cage is very impressive...Great idea & job!!!
Blessed Be and Smooches...
How has this cage been holding up? Have the rabbits chewed the wires at all. have their hocks gotten sore? I may try this myself in a few weeks!
thank you for this video!!! we have tons this stuff i picked up at a yard sale a few years ago!! and i thought i was going to use it for closets....lol

Super cool! Might have to steal your idea yall. Nice job!
Simply brilliant. :-)
Does hair and anything else build up on the shelving?
I wonder if you have a problem with the adult poop pellets dropping through the wire bottom? Also do you have a problem with the rabbits chewing the plastic coating over the wire?
Great Idea, I raised rabbits when I was in school we built all our cages. However that is way nicer than the ones we made.
How is the cage holding up? Did they chew on the white coating?
I have a question, I am moving all my cages outside. I built this a year or so ago… do you have any tips or ideas how to put a roof over it?
i actually took this idea and instead of wire I welded it all together and had it built and on legs in 20 minutes
Have they rusted
will the rabbits chew on the wire
what do you keep your rabbit for
What do u do with the rabbit poop
WHERE CAN I GET THESE WIRE SHELVES ?
Do you have an issue with splay leg in these cages? Wanting to make the transition and getting a lot of people in our rabbit group saying this will happen?
Very nice cage idea. I love it man. Did you use hog rings for the top lid hinge, couldn't tell for certain. Thanks for the video. Beautiful and healthy looking bucks. :).
