Can you list out exactly what you used? I tried writing down as you said it, but some you didn’t say exactly. I want to build some just like this! I love the divider multipurpose with hay!

Hello! Yes, I used two 6’ long by 16” wide “tight mesh” shelves for the bottom.
Two same size but the regular mesh (bigger gaps between the wires) for the front and back, then another one cut in pieces for the ends.
Two 6’ by 12” wide shelves to extend the sides up. I had cut offs to extend my end pieces up or you will need another one of these if you don’t have cut offs.
Then two more 6’ x 16” shelves for the top. I used cutoffs from another cage to make the divider so will need to plan for that as well.
Hope that helps!! I love these so far and plan on building another set just like it. Thanks for watching!!

    Thank you so much, Kris

Awesome! We are new to rabbits but loving these cages so far. Larger and more sturdy than most of the wire cages I’ve seen and no wood to get contaminated with urine/poop like the hutches we have.
Time will tell if they hold up or we discover any issues with them. I’ll certainly do some update videos.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

I’m in the process of making these with just a few modifications. This is such a good idea and really easy to make. One of the things I did was to put the long center wire on the bottom so my buns aren’t walking on them.

Cheryl Verhelest awesome! They have worked out well and I’m about to build another set myself.
I have another video where I made a 9’ set and I did the same as you suggested with the center wire. It worked fine; however, since that turns the the lip of the shelf down and not up where side piece can sit down in it, it’s not quite as sturdy.
Good luck with you cage build!!

Those look great Kris. Was wondering about the bedding but you answered that.
    Take care and stay safe,

I use wire panels as well. Instead of over-lapping two panels to make them steady, just use bamboo, small pieces of metal, etc...so you don't lose height and you're not forced to overlap.

Just wondering how these are holding up over the years. Have you needed to replace them? Have they been chewed on or the coating come off?

    • @ronbootsfarm8266

@@ambernau750 holding up great! Have kept 5 rabbits in them for years now. They have clawed/chewed a little of the coating off the bottom in a place or two but overall they have held up very well.

Great job thanks for making the video! I was wondering , with the slats of the shelving being what they are can mice and rats access the in side of cage?

    • @ronbootsfarm8266
      @ronbootsfarm8266  2 роки тому

Thanks! I haven’t had any problems with mice getting in the cages. Though I leave the rat snakes that hang out in the chicken coop alone so there are not too many mice around!! 😀

    • @ronbootsfarm8266

Hi there- it’s fairly heavy but my wife and I moved it from the big barn out to the smaller barn where it’s installed.
Light enough we got it done, but heavy enough she let me hear about it the entire time! ! 😃

Search “hog ring pliers” on Amazon and should be able to find them easy. I used 3/4 hog rings. Hope that helps!

    • @ronbootsfarm8266

I first put them on the inside to make sure they were in a spot I wanted to keep them. I had planned to put them on the outside later but honestly, it hasn’t been an issue to have them inside and I’ve still never moved them.
