Fun fact: there’s a video on UA-cam where someone shows speedrun glitches (HSP, hyperbounce etc). The official sonic UA-cam channel commented “I’m telling” and these glitches still haven’t been patched in the new update. They saw these glitches, and deliberately didn’t patch these to let the game be more free and fun.

I really think that the capped frame rate for the Switch and 8th generation consoles really cause most of the automation glitches. My old pc could run Frontiers, but it was a glitchy mess that tended to slow itself down immensely. But once I built a new one, and a friend of mine played on PS5, all of those problems vanished with a faster frame rate and even increasing the camera speed
the editing and everything of this recap is super super super super well done, really interesting to see your thoughts reviews and stuff, amazing videos/compilation
I think the game could’ve really benefited from less rails and springs and stuff and just let Sonic do it himself, because if you find the right spot (as demonstrated in this video several times) sonic can launch himself very far, further than any spring can take him most of the time. If the designers intentionally implemented tools like ramps that let players naturally launch themselves, I think it could’ve been very fun and more interesting than just touching a spring and being flung around by the game itself. Granted it would’ve been more interesting if they didn’t let players generate rings by drawing circles, so only the skilled players who can hold on to max rings can fully utilize the ramps, but still.
43:01 Sir, that's not galaga... That's Ikaruga. But yeah I totally agree, Although it wouldn've been cool if it started with the shooting segment, but after the QTE, you shoot Sonic into it and there's an empty core of this moon-like object and fight what's inside or something.
(I cant edit my old comment for some reason but pretend i did) Edit: Great vid, sounds like at the start you kind of took inspiration from bickuribox12’s sonic frontiers almost nailed it. Please do stop swearing, i love ur content, I’m subscribed, the only thing that’s making me think twice about watching these vids is the language, so could you release a double of the video that’s a clean version? Thanks.
Thank you! I don’t think I’ll be making a censored version, but I do plan to cut back on the swearing in future videos. Maybe in the future I’ll cut the swearing but I’ll keep it in mind!
Man I love this game And I love this franchise's bright future And I love this channel And love you all Oh also this video's desc is extremely based, this game's basically really fun imperfection!
The whole Chaos Island argument falls completely flat imo. Sonic Frontiers didn't set out to be an open world exploration game, you running around aimlessly and uninterrupted wasn't the game's intent. They were very vocal about the fact that this isn't an open world game but an open zone game. In the words of the director of the game itself Morio Kishimoto this open zone game and its newly founded approach is “A playable world map that includes stage-like elements", in other words it is what you would expect from a Sonic stage, 3D AND 2D platforming segments in an open environment. It's not a hub world, it's not a traditional open world filled with quests and loot and what have you, it is essentially a huge level. Sonic Team was candid that this game's design philosophy would be following paths that lead you to the game's main collectibles, Fish Tokens, Portal Gears, Memory Fragments and seeds. There is no inherent design flaw when it comes to Chaos Island, there is no sign of Sonic Team going against their new formula and disrupting the flow of the game, THIS is the flow of the game, this is what they always set out to make. To me, you completely misunderstood both the marketing of this game and the purpose of the specific island in question, you simply don't like the fundamental gameplay loop of Sonic Frontiers, at least when it's implemented in 2D. That being said, there's lot's of room for improvement here, you raised a few pretty compelling points. They should increase the radius of picking up collectibles when in 2D (something like a temporary pick-up magnet) to avoid what you showcased with your footage, of collectables being completely out of reach if you get unlucky, something that is a consistent issue and not just an isolated incidence on your playthrough, happened to me too and I've seen it happen on other playthroughs as well. I think what everyone would have appreciated the most is a button to unlock the camera once you're in a 2D section, that way being able to escape one if you accidentally reenter one or just don't wanna do it. Regardless, very fun video, feels a bit meanspirited at time I feel but mostly fair, with a lot of well presented criticism and praise. This doesn't feel fanboy-ish nor hater-ish, I appreciate that, not to mention you're pretty hilarious and your editing is fresh and snappy. I'll subscribe for more, have a good day and keep up the good work!
Hmm that’s a good point actually about chaos island, 2D is important to sonic so yeah you have a good point there. Thank you for subscribing and the kind words and comment too!
*The 5th video, and the 5th "hopeful rant comment" of mine. Here we go.* Frontiers is a deeply flawed game. It's obviously lacking in budget even though the heart-felt-ness is there: - The game launched in a terrible technical state, for PC at least. A "high budget" 2022 game has a 60 fps limit, lolwhat. Not to mention the pop-in. They optimized the game a LOT with update 1, and now it runs about 160% better than before. _(At launch: 100% GPU 90 fps, now: 60% GPU 144 fps)_ - No playable Super Sonic in the open zone. Bosses were non-replayable. Super Sonic would clip through the bosses all the time. - 30 stages with only 4 asset sets. - Short game length, drawn out by obligatory medal collecting _(everyone's favorite part of Sonic Unleashed, right?!)._ - Extremely rushed ending with a terrible final boss. - OPEN ZONE: Sonic is controllable, yes, but that is at the expense of his physics feeling good and natural. When you can immediately stop on a dime, when your character has no momentum, your movements are always predictable and very controllable, but they "feel" wrong, unnatural, and in general, giving the player extreme controllability at the expense of a natural-feeling movement system is a terrible thing. This happened because they tried to built Frontiers on top of Forces, which had awful controls, so while Frontiers controls much better, it's still definitely not as good as the other boost games. - CYBER SPACE: Absolute worst Sonic boost controls, worse than Forces. I don't know how they screwed it up so bad. Probably because Cyber Space was a rushed after-thought and they "limited" the controls to make level design easier. Now, with all that said, I do agree that Frontiers is a decent game, but my thought is that it's extremely overrated. People thought it deserved game of the year over Elden Ring or God of War Ragnarok... AHAHAHAHA. Anyway, so I was kinda angry at everyone for loving Frontiers "this much" because we've had better/equal games before, but none sold as well as Frontiers, none got as much traction. This is partly due to the movies, too. As a result, Sega will do "more of Frontiers" instead of "more of Unleashed/Colors/Generations". But my final point is: I'm still hopeful. Since Frontiers sold so well, Sega will allocate a much larger budget to the next game. Morio Kishimoto is first-hand listening to feedback on his Twitter account, and even spoke about improving the physics of the game. I hope that, if they do not forget about the previous great games and try to make a game which takes the strengths of each previous title, with a big enough budget, we could have something great. Something... Truly better than anything before. Here's hoping.
I get u. I cant believe we'll never get another Unleashed/Gens/Colours cz I love my stage to stage progression games. However, if they take this formula, improve and make it better like what happened with Sonic 2 SA2 and Gens then im here for it.
Because i don't like how you can cheese everything with fishing i only buy what can't be collected without it like eggman's memos (for the sake of 100% completion)
The games jank allows for some incredibly fun gameplay sometimes. Mastering the jank and launching yourself around is amazing and I hope they don’t ever fix it. They’re not “bugs” they’re “happy accidents”
People are forgetting that both the ending and content of the game will be changed with the DLC waves, the first 1 changed already a lot of the game with more replayability content, like extreme difficulty and collecting songs across sonic media and listening to them everywhere changing for those who didnt want the melancoly tracks of the islands
i'm so glad that someone hates Chaos Island as much as i do. i know it's still generally considered the lowest point of the game, but reviewers don't give it the shit that it deserves. i almost didn't finish the game because of it. The rest was a lot of fun, just fuck Chaos Island. One thing that I DID find cool when going back for stuff, is that you can chain drop-dashes up the icy mountains that I assume you're not supposed to be able to climb.
@@yeahmatt you can dodge around it. All u gotta do is homing attack it once, then hit L or R and boom you’ve completely avoided the shield for the battle lol
I just realized after I watched UA-cam videos, you can parry the missiles, when I first played the game I just dodged the missiles and got close to it Edit: talking about wyvern
Same!!! Looks much easier knowing you can parry them, then again the wyvern fight was my most hyped moment. I remember literally squealing like a little girl tapping my feet at the awesome spectacle of the fight.
Well I do agree with a few points I think a lot of your problems come from the switch edition, as I played it on Xbox One and had very few of these glitches that you bring up
For a long time I had been putting off playing this game. I picked it up on my Xbox on like Christmas and after taking 2 hours and finally beating 1-2 I put it down for a bit. I was really worried about the game as a whole, cause I had never played open world games really. This was a huge step for me as well as Sonic. So I kept putting it off after being burned from boom, lost world and forces I was nervous about this game and what it would do to me if it was bad. Then I started to play it for real once I got it on sale on my PC…and soon I binged it all week, every night staying up until midnight, going to work at 6 am to come back tired and grind more and more of it. Completing all the islands and side quests. I wasn’t very great at the attack combos but I did get better as time went on. I don’t know if I would like this to be the new Sonic style tho… I stopped collecting medals at the 3rd island and absolutely didn’t collect any on the last. I just wanted to see the story more than play the main game. The final boss was a challenge for me. It took me forever to do it but finally after many tries I did it…then fucked up the last bit with the QTE and died and had ti redo it. (I was used to spamming the button with every other thing in a boss fight) While I’m not sure if it is the type of Sonic game I want to see going forward I did have fun with it.
Oreo, did you actually check the 2021 SEGA Internal meeting leak? Under the assumption that this leak is true, it appears that you would originally fight Giganto in the Supreme boss fight area from the final game, which does match up some of the early leaks posted by various play testers. Plus there's no presence of rails nor any Sonic defining objects in the beta build which could partially explain the floating rails and springs in the sky.
Yeah that was a super cool thing to see! About the rails however, even in the 2021 trailer at TGA, there were no rails in the game, they definitely just had them turned off so that they could showcase the game, since there’s hundreds of those challenges in the game I find it hard to believe they just added them all in at the end, especially since they showed off the game footage 6 months later
@@oreogod1985 yeah the TGA 2021 trailer was more like a showcase of the actual environment. This was surely done at the time when Kronos, Rhea and Ouranos were originally one island. The reason is that when you see Sonic standing close to the first Chaos Emerald vault key location and shows the island, you can see the Ouranos pyramid landmark in the background.
Love to see this compilation, do you think you can maybe make a video like this with the dlc update? And for the future ones. I really love this game and I’m glad u enjoyed it, this was genuinely a good game, even tho it does has its issues for sure. We’ve been waiting for 5 years. Not including the time it took to develop forces since 2013. I’m just happy to have a sonic W and not be embarrased to say I like sonic 😂😂
In chaos island sonic team was running out of money so they just made everything 2D...i am kinda suprised since ouranos has a lot of 2D too and nobody talks about it
@@oreogod1985 still i felt u where a bit too hursh on sonic team even tho it was segas fault for not giving a bigger budget for one of their biggest ip
*For me, I played on an Xbox One and there weren't any glitches. But the one thing I would say sucked was the knockback radius, because if I got hit near an edge of an island I would straight up fall to death.*
the only issues i have with the game is the EXTREMELY SHORT length of Boss Fights i mean i can do Giganto in under 5 minutes and Wyvern in under 7 And damn Supreme was just poor it’s basically a reskin of Giganto except with a sniper and the load screens when transitioning between boss phases but the music was SO GOOD
The more I play this game, the less I like it. No disrespect to you all who like it, different people have different taste, but for me personally, this game was like a 5/10. Not a bad game, but everything it does decently I can find done better in plenty of other games.
Feel the exact same way, it went from an 8/10 when it released to a 6/10 now. It’s one of those games that heavily relies on the Spectacle and Sense of Discovery of a First Playthrough to keep you distracted but the more and more you keep playing. The more you begin to notice it’s Cracks and the less forgiving you are. I just Completed my Extreme Mode Playthrough which was probably my 10th time playing the campaign since Release and I can’t think of a single time I felt truly engaged in the gameplay. I’ve played the Day Stages of Unleashed, Modern Stages of Generations, and Main Acts of Colors all a Million times and I still have fun, unlike Frontiers. It’s not a Bad game but it’s not Something I’d call Good.
People are forgetting that both the ending and content of the game will be changed with the DLC waves, the first 1 changed already a lot of the game with more replayability content, like extreme difficulty and collecting songs across sonic media and listening to them everywhere changing for those who didnt want the melancoly tracks of the islands
Even though I’ve watched the series the editing techniques you use intrigue me as I’m trying to learn editing and become a individial film creator however I don’t have a proper mic for voiceovers what’s your recommendation for equipment
I’ve been working myself on a review for Metroid prime remaster from a first timers perspective but my mic quality is meh all I have is the iPhone earbuds
Well for microphone, in all these videos I used a headset one I got at Ross, but recently my girlfriend gifted me a razer microphone, it was around $45 but if you go to the livestream I did recently, it sounded great!
I loved this series and watched them all when they came out but I have one question, why does the gameplay keep switching from smooth 60fps Pc gameplay to what it looks like 30fps Switch Gameplay. Great Job though and I hope this Compilation goes well
Yeah I used 60 fps footage from other UA-cam let’s plays, but then for when it’s me playing the game or something specific about it, then it’s switch footage cuz that’s all I got, I figured it’d be a bit more clear when I’m playing it and when I’m not, but yeah we are struggling on the switch😂
I found the cyberspace stages to be a breeze to S rank, and the controls weren't janky at all? Yes there's glitches galore but I can't agree with the movement being terrible in the stages
This is how I was going to originally upload this series, but since it took 5 months to make and I really need money for things like college bills, I decided to spread it out, but now it’s finally here! Thank you all so much!

But once I built a new one, and a friend of mine played on PS5, all of those problems vanished with a faster frame rate and even increasing the camera speed
Awesome video!
This is super entertaining and well made!
the editing and everything of this recap is super super super super well done, really interesting to see your thoughts reviews and stuff, amazing videos/compilation
I can’t unsee the desk chair now.
*Saaaaaaaammmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeee*
Exactly like, what’s a knight?
Now I can imagine some platforms and stuff miles in the sky that you can only get to through the jank, that’d actually be pretty cool lol
43:01 Sir, that's not galaga... That's Ikaruga. But yeah I totally agree, Although it wouldn've been cool if it started with the shooting segment, but after the QTE, you shoot Sonic into it and there's an empty core of this moon-like object and fight what's inside or something.
37:35 Better solution: You can take ‘em all out at once with the Stomp. You don’t have to Homing Attack them.
18:12 Anyone else get reminded of the Amazing Spider-Man movie tie-in game from this moment?
(I cant edit my old comment for some reason but pretend i did)
Edit: Great vid, sounds like at the start you kind of took inspiration from bickuribox12’s sonic frontiers almost nailed it.
@@oreogod1985 thank you! :)

Man I love this game
And I love this franchise's bright future
And I love this channel
And love you all
Oh also this video's desc is extremely based, this game's basically really fun imperfection!
There was a review i remember hearing that I 100% agree with. Sonic Frontiers is a 7/10 game that feels like a 10/10 one.
Sega really gotta let Sonics Inner Dbz side come out more, Him and Shadow are basically Dragon ball Characters
The best 3D Sonic Game alongside Sonic Adventure (Original & DX Version)
You’ve got the perfect reviewer voice
My friends at school agree, thanks man lol
when i say Sonic and the Black Knight is my favorite game of the franchise people laugh at me
i'm glad i'm not the only one tho
Damn, Sonic got shot down by a grandma. 80
The cyloops length actually gets bigger as the game goes on.
A compilation noice
*The 5th video, and the 5th "hopeful rant comment" of mine. Here we go.*
Frontiers is a deeply flawed game. It's obviously lacking in budget even though the heart-felt-ness is there:
- The game launched in a terrible technical state, for PC at least. A "high budget" 2022 game has a 60 fps limit, lolwhat. Not to mention the pop-in. They optimized the game a LOT with update 1, and now it runs about 160% better than before. _(At launch: 100% GPU 90 fps, now: 60% GPU 144 fps)_
- No playable Super Sonic in the open zone. Bosses were non-replayable. Super Sonic would clip through the bosses all the time.
- 30 stages with only 4 asset sets.
- Short game length, drawn out by obligatory medal collecting _(everyone's favorite part of Sonic Unleashed, right?!)._
- Extremely rushed ending with a terrible final boss.
@@creativename152 My biggest gripe isn't the open-zone type gameplay, I don't have a problem with it, but damn the physics are crazy awful
Because i don't like how you can cheese everything with fishing i only buy what can't be collected without it like eggman's memos (for the sake of 100% completion)
4-5 is a Holoska DLC act.
33:26 hmmm….genuinely interesting pick for a favorite sonic game 🤔 any chance we could get a video about that game?
It will definitely be happening sometime in the future!
This game is really janky, but not janky enough to not be charming, I fucking love it.
Agreed lol
Best way to describe Frontiers
The games jank allows for some incredibly fun gameplay sometimes. Mastering the jank and launching yourself around is amazing and I hope they don’t ever fix it. They’re not “bugs” they’re “happy accidents”
Man that made me cry it’s so beautiful 😩🥹🥹
Nah the glitches make it look funny to me so I'm gonna get it so i can just watch this stuff happen
I love sonic fronteirs and hopefully if there is a sequel they will perfect the open world formula
People are forgetting that both the ending and content of the game will be changed with the DLC waves, the first 1 changed already a lot of the game with more replayability content, like extreme difficulty and collecting songs across sonic media and listening to them everywhere changing for those who didnt want the melancoly tracks of the islands
@@goncalomoledo5373 Okay, you're just spamming at this point.
i'm so glad that someone hates Chaos Island as much as i do. i know it's still generally considered the lowest point of the game, but reviewers don't give it the shit that it deserves. i almost didn't finish the game because of it.
The rest was a lot of fun, just fuck Chaos Island.
One thing that I DID find cool when going back for stuff, is that you can chain drop-dashes up the icy mountains that I assume you're not supposed to be able to climb.
Yeah chaos was rough, but damn im so happy they ended it with a phenomenal titan battle
@@oreogod1985 thematically I agree, but I really didn't like the part where you had to throw the shield at him. it felt so inconsistent for me.
I love this game though. if Sonic Team really are taking feedback then I have high hopes for the next one. they seem serious about it
@@yeahmatt you can dodge around it. All u gotta do is homing attack it once, then hit L or R and boom you’ve completely avoided the shield for the battle lol
i didn't think of knight just being a chair until you pointed it out wtf
I just realized after I watched UA-cam videos, you can parry the missiles, when I first played the game I just dodged the missiles and got close to it
Edit: talking about wyvern
Same!!! Looks much easier knowing you can parry them, then again the wyvern fight was my most hyped moment. I remember literally squealing like a little girl tapping my feet at the awesome spectacle of the fight.
That thumnbail looks sick, I wonder what the inspiration was.
On a serious note, this is a great review, to watch it all together feels just right
Love the discord server so much man, thanks for the help y’all gave me❤️

Thanks man lol took a while and I’m really happy it’s popping off

I don't care man... It's MY heartfelt mess. This game is actually peak
19:19 that was fucking perfect lmao
The underground sections of this game Loosely remind me of the indoor section of Dusty desert from Sonic 06
this is a very well put together video. good shit.
i can describe this in 3 words. accurate, funny, awesome.
(I was used to spamming the button with every other thing in a boss fight)
While I’m not sure if it is the type of Sonic game I want to see going forward I did have fun with it.
oh btw with the latest update you CAN in fact turn off the starfall slot machine !
I think when all the dlc is out, I may make a video on it, and yeah this game was a ton of fun! Seeing sonic this popular again is very nice to see!

There are a ton of glitches beacouse you are om switch, i played on xbox and in my playthrough there was close to non glitches
*For me, I played on an Xbox One and there weren't any glitches. But the one thing I would say sucked was the knockback radius, because if I got hit near an edge of an island I would straight up fall to death.*
I play on switch and I've never seen many of the glitches he says.
I feel like Sonic Frontiers is my game of the year for 2022 despite its flaws

If you are good enough at Combat, you can legitematly knock Giganto out for quite a while. I love this janky fucked mess.

How is your editing THIS good and only have 4k subs!? People, SUB TO THIS SUCKA! DO IT lol 🤣
THANK YOU!!
@@oreogod1985 you welcum lol. Keep grinding 😎👍
the only issues i have with the game is the EXTREMELY SHORT length of Boss Fights i mean i can do Giganto in under 5 minutes and Wyvern in under 7 And damn Supreme was just poor it’s basically a reskin of Giganto except with a sniper and the load screens when transitioning between boss phases but the music was SO GOOD
The more I play this game, the less I like it.
People are forgetting that both the ending and content of the game will be changed with the DLC waves, the first 1 changed already a lot of the game with more replayability content, like extreme difficulty and collecting songs across sonic media and listening to them everywhere changing for those who didnt want the melancoly tracks of the islands

my favorite Sonic game to be honest
@@oreogod1985 Oh That makes more sense now and I guess switch players do have it a bit rough compared to the rest😂
I found the cyberspace stages to be a breeze to S rank, and the controls weren't janky at all? Yes there's glitches galore but I can't agree with the movement being terrible in the stages
