You played unleashed wrong playing it in one sitting sounds horrible.
Play the 2nd act of windmill isle and look for shortcuts memorize the level lay out and get an s rank. Do that for every main level and it will feel insanely rewarding. It may not make unleashed a better game but what I'll say is that in my opinion the peak of unleashed is the pinnacle of fun you can have in any sonic game!
now this was amazing now the real question is, when are we getting a list of every sonic song rated from best to worst??
Having never really played sonic games, this was super eye-opening on the state of sonic as a character. The vid was so well made too

Sonic 06 is a poorly made video game with terrible controls and full of progress-impeding bugs, but that doesn't mean I hate the game. I criticize it all the time, but I always find myself coming back to it every so often to play through it. Many Sonic fans are the same way.

Considering Shadow the Hedgehog is canon to the storyline and its plot follows on from Adventure 2 and Heroes... I kinda side with your friend, I feel like it should've probably been included.

Thus is why I’m spacing out Pokémon games. I played red as a sort of marathon but I’m spacing out silver to avoid burnout. Plus Scarlet will be out soon

I feel like they were trying to end the game on something symbolic, but they instead ended with something that's pretty stupid.
Despite any flaws Black Knight has, Knight of the Wind goes so hard it’s unreal
i actually gasped out loud at that soundtrack being put in C tier, i feel like it should be at least B from the strength of the vocal tracks alone
Yeah, I was insanely shocked at how bad he talked about Sonic & the Black Knight. Him saying it was worse than Secret Rings made me doubt he even played the game personally. The music obviously deserves B tier at the very least. I don't understand how he couldn't enjoy tunes like Misty Lake or that end song With Me. Also The story is among the greatest Sonic game stories ever told if not THE BEST. But the controls are the worst thing about the game; however, it is without a doubt an incredible step up compared to the controls in Secret Rings. Also he didn't mention at all how much the Wii Nunchuk helps out. Certain levels can go die tho.

i've been revisiting this video at least once or twice a month since it came out lmao, adventure 1 and 2 will forever hold a dear place in my heart
through the month of January, I marathoned 36 different Sonic games, 2D and 3D, in order of release. The way you got hyped at the end of Forces is exactly how I felt at The End of Frontiers. Glad I'm not the only one this insane!
Hearing endless possibilities is always an instant injection of nostalgia into my brain
i remember watching this one edit of sonic that used endless possibility on repeat and it's part of the reason that it's my favorite main theme in the franchise.

But you have to ask what the hell was the English voice director thinking with the Werehog? In the original Japanese dub, they just gave him a different, suave voice. No need to go all growly.
Ending had me tearing up, really did feel like the most genuine reaction to sonic's past decade. Especially as someone who has more love for the sa 1 2 and heroes era and not much for the classics, it really is the story and attitude that keeps me attached to the franchise, thanks for that reminder yakko.

I genuinely feel like I just watched a legitimate, full-fledged tv documentary. The editing is top notch, and the commentary and comedic timing is amazing. The dedication to not only play and complete 13 GAMES in just a week, but doing so while ALSO cracking jokes and constantly changing camera angles is- all while barely holding your sanity together and likely damaging your eyesight- is, well, insane but also incredible and somehow inspiring.
The mention of your childhood nostalgia for this series from beginning to end really tied this all together, and it really reinvigorated that feeling within me as well.
This video alone was a journey in it of itself, but I can’t imagine to the full extent what your experience with this could’ve been like, and I likely never will in my lifetime (as I would like to remain at least relatively sane). Your noble sacrifice has not gone unnoticed, nor unappreciated.

God this video is so well made, hats off to you Mr. Internet funny man yakko. The quality and care you put into the video is magnificent if you ask me, the only thing I found weird was the callout to generations for being mostly 2D when colors suffers from the same but worse, but honestly that’s ridiculously small if you ask me. There’s a lot of passion on this video and I love it wholeheartedly
I was a little time-crunched at the end of working on this, but I definitely considered mentioning that. While I did say that Colors has a lot of 2D segments, it is kinda surprising how frequent they are. I think it's just more noticeable (regardless of the actual amount) in Generations because half of the levels are strictly 2D with the 2D Sonic, so one might assume 3D Sonic would have mostly 3D levels, but that's not the case.
@@yakkocmn yeah Thinking about it it was really weird that they advertise the whole 3D 2D dynamic when both play styles have 2D, I assume maybe there was a third strictly 3D playstyle planned that balanced it all out but maybe got removed idk

sonic and the blacknight was some of the best sonic storytelling i've ever experienced, when your a kid and having something look cool was enough sonic and the blacknight delivered such an epic story that caused me to replay cutscenes over and over again after beating the game. It was the last 3d sonic game with overflowing soul in it.

Tbh I love Secret Rings's ending. Shahra loved Erazor but at the end she had to understand that he was evil and needed to be stopped but the pain was still there. That's why Sonic wished for handkerchiefs, the pain will pass but it will take a lot of time, it was the most realistic thing he could do, that's why I loved it...the game sucks tho
remember that time in black knight where knuckles is about to off himself after losing and sonic's like "woah man chill out" LMAO
The game is great. I struggled but had a lot of fun with most levels except all those where they ask you not to touch any rings. It was definitely more fun for than Sonic 2 or Adventure 2. And yes, I played with the Wiimote, not on emulation.

As much as I hate Secret Ring's abysmal controls and cheesy story, the ending is very powerful. It's like you said, Shahra's feelings for Erazor make it somewhat bitter sweet
You already mentioned handkerchief wish, but then there's also "do what you think is right" wish. The fact that she thinks stopping Erazor is a "right" thing to do doesn't change the fact that she was outright forced to act. I reckon her thinking that stopping Erazor is a right thing to do would make her blame herself for thinking this way

Sonic fan here and very appreciative of your effort even through the highs and many lows of the franchise. Never thought about the franchise as you did here because most of my gameplay was 2D filtered. 3D games are just not there for me. I’ll play them of course but I don’t go back to them.

This was so well made, the thought of Sonic Fans never giving up on a franchise considered to be mostly dead by the outside world is beyond real. I will love Sonic till the day I die no matter what they do to him and you reminded me what I used to love about Sonic as well. Thank you for the video, I don’t know if I could have done it even with the free time to do so.
The entire ending section was nothing short of perfection.

The boost games were definitely released in reverse order in terms of difficulty. Unleashed is really fun to go back to because it is so challenging, but as the first boost game, holy crap… I got stuck on so many levels as a kid

Honestly, worth the entire watch. The conclusion to the journey is such an emotionally honest and loving look at what a series like this can mean to us, and what we can take away from art we'd be expected to completely pan. Well done, excellent video
This was such an emotional roller coaster and nostalgia trip that I am left speechless...and saddened once again at how low Sonic has gone.
He’s back!
Frontiers is a wonderful breath of fresh air compared to the recent 10 years of sonic. I do feel like sega still has a fair bit to go in terms of polishing and flushing out the new formula to make it feel better. They have such an amazing foundation with frontiers that I think it will be hard for sega to screw up the next one (assuming they keep this formula). I can’t wait for some patches to frontiers for some bug fixes/general QoL improvements. They can turn it into a true masterpiece if they can fix the problems the game does have. The story though? I've come back to this, and I actually know the reasoning behind unleash not being hated as much nowadays. It's that people are now excusing the metal system as it's a problem that fixes itself, as you play more, you start to know the best route to collect them. And instead of looking at it from a new players eyes, they all look at it from their more expirenced perspective, in other words, their bias to replaying it so often has changed their opinions.

even then if you just explore the night stage thoroughly and replay each day stage at least once, you can go through game the first time without any backtracking. i just finished unleashed last week for the first time like that on xbox.

I remember people bashing Secret Rings for being bad, but as a kid I didn't care about it at all. I didn't even watch any of the "all cutscenes" videos to learn the plot. But when you said it's a "platformer with tilt controls" I immediately understood everything. My sincere condolences to everyone who tried to play this.

I and my bros used to play this on the Wii. I loved the controls and finished the game many times. i will always have a place in my heart of this game.
Speedrunning the game once you get used to tilt is fun as all hell. The game should've made sonic max in the first place though.

Watching this on the night before Frontiers comes out. That ending brought a tear to my eye, and I really do hope that Frontiers is the start of a renaissance for Sonic.

@@ItsRevival 10000% its worth it. honestly the first cutscene of the game just gives me pure adventure 1 vibes. and honestly the game feels like it's basically adventure 3. probably one of the best stories written in a sonic game after adventure games.

That, "kicking ass fast" line was something that stuck out to my as a kid so when a relative was at my house I launched the game to let them hear the song only to find out the title screen music cuts off and loops just before the lyrics kick in...

I loved Sonic Riders Zero Gravity a lot as a kid, the interactive soundtrack was so cool to me, and to this day i still find it a banger.

this video haunted my reccomended for weeks and im glad i actually got around to watching it despite hating it purely because of the title and thumbnail. youre a great creator and you obviously put a lot of work into this video. As a video maker, if i were to try something like this, id probably quit three days in, or do the whole week and just NEVER get around to editing it. Bravo to you for not only getting this released, but also for making it a legitimately fun and interesting video experience!
