This is truly amazing. I'm only beginning my UX career, and I was feeling that something is missing in my personas. This video is absolutely awesome and helped me a lot. Thank you so much for sharing!
This video has a lot to offer, a hidden gem since I've been struggling to make one. Now I learned deeper about persona and it should live along with the project, this workshop is so attainable. Thanks you, we need more of this!
This is one of the most useful video on personas that I've ever watch. The part I love the most is when you talked about team agreement when making a persona and how that helps everyone staying on the same track. Thank you
Amazing - how come there are so few views??? Both the material and presentation are absolutely wonderful. I just came here by chance to sort of refresh my memories on the subject and watched the whole video from start to finish... Thanks a lot, and best of luck in this new 2019 year!
i've spent my afternoon looking for adoption phase of personas and not successful until i found this video. Thanks for it! Great material and presentation. Also questioning why it's so few views (I imagine due to the length of the video, people are lazy now and want their answer in 5 min)
I really loved this video, from the way you spoke to the examples you presented. Thank you so much ma'am! If you are reading this, I would really appreciate if you could clarify this doubt I had. Certain products might have a very large number of user groups (like phones, public transport-related, etc), and there may be a lot of overlap in their end goals. In such a case do we make a persona for each user group or do we merge user groups based on their end goals? I have once made two personas which really differed only in their occupational background (student vs teacher), while their end goals were very similar. I was asked by an interviewer why I made two separate personas instead of just one, bringing me back to the aforementioned query. Thank you!
Thanks for such a great lecture, Kyle! I wish I could learn more about the synthesis of the data and the formation into personas. Any ideas where I can find more about that? Maybe another lecture of yours? Thanks again... just subscribed! :)
Thanks for watching and subscribing, Zohar! I'm happy you found it helpful. I have a talk on data analysis you can watch here: womentalkdesign.com/talks/im-sorry-i-cant-dont-hate-me-the-post-it-breakup/. Some people really love to do affinity diagramming to try and distil the findings, but I find the activity to be a bit overwhelming. I cover some other options in that talk.
Thanks, Santiago! In the video, I'm talking about primary and secondary personas. Typically, the primary persona is the one who will perform the task you are designing for. The secondary persona, plays a supportive role to the primary, but they're not the main one you're designing for.
Its really good presentation. I am UX Head (India) in a company my problem is most of the company's here in India not ready to spend Time and Money for doing research before we starting wireframe. Most of time am assuming my self a real user and making the designs. In my case what is your suggestion... how can i do improve my self... please advise
Thanks! It's very difficult to design a usable interface based on assumptions. If your company is not willing to invest in doing research with your end users, I would suggest seeking out those in your company that have direct contact with them. It may be a sales or support department. If you can't talk to the end user, talk to the people who talk to them. You can learn a great deal about the end user's needs when interviewing these internal team members. I would also conduct some secondary research to see if any one else has published research about your end users. I hope this helps!
Hi, I am designing an acitivity based reminder app. This will suggest items based on users activities like go to shopping, go to Bank, go to vacation etc. Ex: for vacation, "have you taken passport, visa etc" I think anybody can use this app and hard to narrow down to personas. Could you please tell me how to choose personas or archetype or something?
