Just before the show on France 2, like last year, we had a 30 min documentary on Malmö and the Swedish 🇸🇪 history and culinary traditions with our beloved Stephane Bern. Stephane is also one of the co-host animator of Eurovision for FranceTV. That was super interesting ! Thank you for the video Tevebits. Super nice to watch ! 👍
I love how the French and German-speaking Swiss broadcasters were so excited about the win they kept going, while Italian RSI just immediately cut back to regular programming 😭
That is something the winning broadcaster(s) often get to do. Broadcaster gets the chance for a first reaction. I think it's often the commentators that come downstairs onto the stage. World feed stays open for that a bit. The youtube version of the world feed stopped though, I would not mind seeing it every year, though the issue this year in particular would be that commentators are way more likely to say something spicy on the EBU feed.
SRF and ARD (German channel) actually aired the same program afterwards. So they didn't just stop but it seems the feed provided just cut off there. However, this year none of the commentators got to interview on stage (I do still remember when poor old Peter Urban had to hurry to Lena in 2010). I wonder why. The joined aftershow only had the German commentator interview Kaleen, Isaak and a representative of Switzerland but not Nemo themselves. I guess he was already getting ready for the press conference. Germany, Austria and Switzerland signed a contract last year to produce their pre- and aftershows together. Which technically is a smart way of saving money but got awkward yesterday in my opinion. The aftershow didn't really balance the win well with the other contestants. Since the host was also German, it felt a lot of the focus was on Germany finally getting out of the last places, and not Switzerland winning the competition. I think for the future, the broadcasters should look at their odds and if one of them is likely to win, they should split up for the aftershow. A joined pre-show is still a good idea and saves money for everyone, as is an aftershow if none of the three countries win.
@@wbaumnuss3006 so that's why SRF (as well as ARD and ORF) didn't show it. Although I think that is a bit sad tbh. I would have expected the Swiss being prepared for a win and maybe translate what is being said or have all commentators interview them together.
It's always interesting to me as a brit to see the sponsors because 25+ years of watching Eurovision I've never seen a single one (for those who don't know BBC are public funded so cannot show sponsor logos, advertising, etc of any sorts, I believe it is the same case for Das Erste).
Yep. "Das Erste" in Germany is the same. Also public funded. Was surprised to see sponsors on all other channels. Also on "ORF1" in Austria for example. I thought it's also public funded but maybe they have different rules towards ads? "Das Erste" also shows ads but I think there are only a couple of very short slots throughout the day. It's highly regulated.
TVP in Poland is also publicly funded, from two sources actually: from the tv/radio licence, by the government support (because many people refuses to pay the tv licence because it’s quite easy to bypass the fee) and also the ads income. Hence TVP also broadcast ads but they cannot insert adbreaks during the show, so at least we get the Eurovision from the very start to the end.
I think the BBC did show them one year. There was definitely a complaint that the BBC was cutting out the reprise of the winning song about halfway through, so they showed the sponsor logos one year (more complaints), then the EBU decided not to start the credits until the reprise was finished, and now the BBC just mask the sponsors instead.
Wonder if the EBU had a word with RAI after last year. Also, the BBC feed went a bit wrong as initially Graham Norton couldn’t be heard and we heard a bit of the Radio 2 commentary from Scott Mills.
Thank you (tevebits and all their collaborators across Europe) for co-operating on this video. It's really interesting to see how the different broadcasters prepare and follow the programme. And great to see the moment when all the different countries join together to sing and laugh together!

Surprising how many people here are celebrating that Rai 1 was on time for once. I went frame-by-frame. The Ident became visible on their stream at 21:00:01.10 while the animation started at 21:00:00.74. They luckily were only *0.36* seconds late this time!
Rai's your broadcaster, right? Using the World Feed for reference, you still were late. 0.36 seconds though, which is an improvement over the second semifinal.
I love this channel. It is actually something we can see nowhere else, and for someone interested - it is a real gem... :) Probably most people are curious of how RSI's feed was black, while SRF was ready, but I can see here how each broadcaster has different laws to follow - like BBC and Das Erste, which do not have any ads at the beginning, nor the end. Wondering if that was the case throughout the whole show? Also how the SVT's version does not contain the Bailey's logo at the end (assuming they cannot advertise alcohol there, but why no suppliers between Riedel and KostaBoda is a mystery for me). PS: We watched it on UA-cam this time, and the end of the stream there contained the SRF's version (of course without the intermediary ads), so seems that they just switched to the same feed as UA-cam was on.
It's also interesting that Sweden themselves ran a modified version of the sponsors that omitted Baileys. Does the Swedish broadcaster disaprove of alcohol? But they themselves must have been receiving some or all of that sponsor money as the hosts. Also whatever that last sponsor was it was a much simplfied version on the Swedish feed, compared to the long list of logos everywhere else (bar UK) was seeing at that same moment from the main feed.
@@MrDannyDetail In Sweden and the rest of the Nordic countries (excl. Denmark) you can't buy alcohol over a certain strength from regular stores and must buy it from a state owned monopoly. Because of that, it wouldn't surprise me if there is a ban/restriction on the advertising of spirits.

And I wish I could say that this year we will do better with Joost Klein, as he will definitely place higher than 9th place, but unfortunately, no final, not the party we hoped for. The European Broadcasting Union decided for disqualification based on an incident.'
0:50 fun to hear that the only broadcast where they keep talking is the NPO, because the commentator spends the most of the time he has to explain why it's outragous we got disqualified, hahaha
Interesting that ARD/Das Erste skipped over the sponsorship section of the credits. Btw I wish you also had a feed of ONE, a sub-channel of ARD. They had a banner with the funniest/best Twitter comments and have been doing this for at least ten years now.
Rai also streamed his sign language version on RaiPlay. Italian people with hearing impairments just know that "Rai Pubblica Utilità" (Rai division for accessibility) always provides the sign language stream on their platform for big events like Eurovision or Sanremo.
Regarding Germany's ARD/Das Erste coverage, I should mention that the preceding few minutes before Eurovision was given to "Das Wort zum Sonntag" (The word for Sunday) It is the second longest-running program on German television, A commentary slot in which current-affairs and issues are presented through a religious perspective. The slot airs every Saturday primetime after the late-evening news whilst Eurovision sees it bumped up to either just before the liveshow (as seen in this video) or as part of ARD's preshow coverage. This past week, 'Das Wort zum Sonntag' marked its 70th anniversary on television.
Are you planning to do something similar with the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics Games ? To acknowledge when commercials were placed (or what may have been censored depending on the country...)
Because they are the winner for this year...and Das Erste also did a bit I think?? If you look carefully, you can see that after the show, Das Erste and the SRG SSR channels (except RSI La 1) did a bit interview with Nemo as Swiss fans celebrates! SVT1, didn't show the Bailey's logo. Also on the France 2, it showed Baileys on the sponsors in the credits, isn't alcoholic drinks adverting banned in France?
I'm not sure to what extent Swedish law would allow SVT to advertise alcohol. SVT is publicly owned and funded, and Swedish law is extremely strict on how alcohol is to be advertised completely. As such for example most beer ads I've ever seen on TV here have been for non-alcoholic beer.
@@linmanfu913 Even better: they displayed the same trade union broadcast OVER the closing Eurovision bumper at the end of the contest. Absolutely stellar to see the message again, now with the "Ode an die Freude" played over it.
Really hope that the Peacock feed included here. I also noticed that the UA-cam feed streamed in 30 fps while the European TV broadcast in 60 fps. UA-cam has a 60 fps live stream option, why it didn't worked?
European TV broadcast is actually 50 fps because it is PAL. But unfortunately, UA-cam doesn't support 25 and 50 on live streams so instead of it 30 and 60 are used respectfully. This year 30 fps was used because the whole contest was produced in 25 fps, and it is only SVT's decision.
Are you planning to do something similar to UEFA EURO 2024 Finals? I'm going to record the whole thing from Estonia's broadcaster and i'd be glad to hand it off to you aswell!
No, I'm sorry. Uploading any footage of big sporting events usually results in immediate copyright issues, especially when it comes to UEFA or FIFA. It's just not worth the time, I'm afraid.
I'm in the US and didn't want to pay the Peacock subscription fee so I managed-with less effort than I imagined-to find an IPTV stream that wasn't geo-locked. Otherwise, I just would've listened to the radio streams, since they seemed to forget geo-locking. I'm not sure I should point out which IPTV stream, though, I don't want them figuring out and locking it for next year!
The whole thing is on UA-cam. You could have watched UA-cam and listened to the radio commentary from any of the English-language broadcasters (BBC, RTÉ or RTL).
@@linmanfu913 the full shows on UA-cam are geoblocked, they can't be watched from the US, Chile, Brazil and Australia. Broadcasters there have bought the full rights
@@linmanfu913 The UA-cam stream, like most of the crucial videos on the ESC channel, are geoblocked in the U.S, which is why the user above went through the hoops to begin with.
Yeah, it was pretty easy. I already had the stream available to me. And each stream has its own delay, so watching the IPTV stream while listening to RTÉ's or RNE's radio stream wasn't really working.
RAI made it! Also, fun bit of trivia, but Graham Norton's microphone had some issues during the opening of the contest. What's up with RTS going blank?
It's common practice at the Eurovision finale for the feed to open up again after the ident and a few seconds of black. This is done exactly to allow winning countries to air the first interview with their artists. It seems RTS forgot about the black screen.
I’m not personally sure but a useful clue might be that the local commentators are usually in the arena during the event so that would suggest there is less processing on the domestic side then there would be for sports or news broadcasts. That said I’m not a broadcast expert just a production geek so I could be totally wrong
Surprised that NPO 1 is in this, especially after what happened with the participant who landed in trouble with the organisers, hopefully AVROTROS (the programme makers) and the national organisers take some lessons for next year for wherever in Switzerland will host in 2025.

again, you're welcome for the svt recording :)
0:50 fun to hear that the only broadcast where they keep talking is the NPO, because the commentator spends the most of the time he has to explain why it's outragous we got disqualified, hahaha
En terecht ook!
oh en ook nog: bij de NPO feed is de volume hoger gedaan zodat mensen het kunnen horen
@@idontdrawartagain definately not
@@Gfynbcyiokbg8710 definitely yes.
I love how France 2 still has its own credits (though this time, the credits are a bit less overwhelming compared to last year).
magico la rai in orario, non ci posso credere
Rai1 not messing up this time is actually surprising!
Everyone cutting to a Moroccan Oil ad while the BBC gave us some talking pigeons 😅
Interesting that ARD/Das Erste skipped over the sponsorship section of the credits. Btw I wish you also had a feed of ONE, a sub-channel of ARD. They had a banner with the funniest/best Twitter comments and have been doing this for at least ten years now.
I love that most countries go into the Moroccan oil ad after the show has finished and the UK goes into talking stockmotiom pigeons 😂
The BBC is a non commercial channel so won't show the ad, plus did you notice it cut out all the sponsors on the end credits
@@davidoverfield4912 Same for "Das Erste" from Germany.
00:52 The first to be heard was Jean-Marc Richard from RTS... He's been hosting the ESC for a long time on RTS
And at 01:34 We can hear the RTS group talk again since they are the winners
1:10 You noticed? Only in Ukraine there is a sign language interpreter for people with hearing impairments. Truly Europe!
❤See graphic on BBC One at 0:50
Rai also streamed his sign language version on RaiPlay. Italian people with hearing impairments just know that "Rai Pubblica Utilità" (Rai division for accessibility) always provides the sign language stream on their platform for big events like Eurovision or Sanremo.
I also wonder which broadcasters apart from orf 1 have audio description?
❤️ Also Rai provided his sign language version on RaiPlay!
@@ObjectPresents you're referring to 777? Subtitles are not sign language. And if talking about 779, audio description is also not sign language
Eurovision EBU 15 channels represent the countries of the European continents for this year‘s song contest.
Regarding Germany's ARD/Das Erste coverage, I should mention that the preceding few minutes before Eurovision was given to "Das Wort zum Sonntag" (The word for Sunday)
It is the second longest-running program on German television, A commentary slot in which current-affairs and issues are presented through a religious perspective.
Can we please see a 15 way ad break video? 😍
9pm to almost 1am in CEST = 2am until 6am in Vietnam.
Wow, Maybe someone in Vietnam watched Eurovision until Breakfast news start at 6.
Now I wanna see how they insert commercials. Surely it'll be funny for Italy to air the news until Italy gets its points from the juries.
Stop making fun of Italy, wash your mouth before mocking a nation you don’t even know anything about.
@Mario-uw9ip Eh I wasn't trying to be offensive, I was just trying to assume what a country is doing based on last year's experience.
Nope, last year it was RSI (Swiss tv in italian) that aired the news. And this year, all the ad breaks on Rai 2 and Rai 1 were perfectly coordinated!
And here I thought Moroccanoil was some sort of petrol company.
Why is no one talking about the Rai presemtator saying "Allacciate le cinture, si parte!" (fasten your seatbelts, off we go) È TROPPO BELLO
Thank God the world is still in order. Italy joined almost half a second too late.
I don't speak Dutch, but I can feel the pain of the Dutch moderator.
Pretty much, they said that joost klein got disqualified and that they're saddened about it.
Justice for Joost!
actually, I watched this whole video for the 4th time
Are you planning to do something similar with the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics Games ? To acknowledge when commercials were placed (or what may have been censored depending on the country...)
No, I'm sorry. Uploading any footage of big sporting events usually results in immediate copyright issues. It's just not worth the time, I'm afraid.
I was looking at different channels and was surprised to see Kosovo also playing the contest on their main channel
Nimmst du immer den ganzen ESC auf den Sendern auf oder nur Anfang, Ende und Werbung? Und selbst wenn es nicht so wäre: Großer Respekt!
Yes, they did a similar video for both the semi final this year, and also the final of last year 2023 edition.
@@CitronCassis Ah, ok 👌
I think I asked last time but where do you source the World Feed from?
I'm wondering too, it's a bit weird since the UA-cam livestream includes sponsors, unlike the feed used by tevebits. Maybe it's a free DVB-S channel?
Backhaul raw satellite feed recordings, captured from Eutelsat 10A
despite the fact that the broadcast ended, SRF 1 continued to comment
Because they are the winner for this year...and Das Erste also did a bit I think?? If you look carefully, you can see that after the show, Das Erste and the SRG SSR channels (except RSI La 1) did a bit interview with Nemo as Swiss fans celebrates!
(If you wondering why Das Erste decided to join in the fun, I think it's because German is the most spoken language in Switzerland! Due to this, if you go to Switzerland, you can watch some German channels as well, including "Ersten"!)
@@itjustmeLam Nope, they were replaying the winning moments and the german, austrian and swiss-german channels have a show together after esc final ends
@@escxnoah Oh I get it. Thanks for reply...
But this really showed that, when Swiss win, the entire group of Das Erste, ORF 1 gone a bit of celebration...
Wait Rai1 was actually early???!!! Shocking!
And the BBC lack of showing any sponsors at all.
Yes, except if these drinks are alcohol free
Request for Euro 2024 please 8 channel viewer
Honestly would be interesting to include Belgium.
Apparently VRT (Flemish TV) had a message from the trade union protesting against the inclusion of Israel inserted before the ESC started.
@@linmanfu913 I was going to comment that! Other broadcasters should do that though, let us end this conffict
@@linmanfu913 Even better: they displayed the same trade union broadcast OVER the closing Eurovision bumper at the end of the contest. Absolutely stellar to see the message again, now with the "Ode an die Freude" played over it.
As for me along with my fellow US citizens, we were tuned in to the final through the streaming service Peacock.
@@tevebits alright understandable
RAI A LITTLE BIT LATER BUT STILL ON TIME OMG
@@linmanfu913 ESC's UA-cam is geoblocked for US viewers. SVT Play and RTP Play usually don't geoblock so they're a solid option.
Hello from Greece🇬🇷! If you want to put the Greek national channel ERT 1 hd, ERT 2 hd in a video.
Chaos, Sync aand back to Chaos ❤😂
It would be cool if you also included the youtube stream
he did
The world feed technically is the UA-cam stream.
Croatia next? I’ll try to get it
How did Rai 1 (Italy) almost late in intro😂
How is the source feed actually distributed to the stations? Is it via satellite or over the internet?
I’m not personally sure but a useful clue might be that the local commentators are usually in the arena during the event so that would suggest there is less processing on the domestic side then there would be for sports or news broadcasts. That said I’m not a broadcast expert just a production geek so I could be totally wrong
Satellite feed, same for when it is distributed to the national juries the day before.
The EBU feed is delivered both via satellite and the EBU’s very own FINE fibre network. Members have to book it in advance.
Surprised that NPO 1 is in this, especially after what happened with the participant who landed in trouble with the organisers, hopefully AVROTROS (the programme makers) and the national organisers take some lessons for next year for wherever in Switzerland will host in 2025.
AvroTros still has to broadcast it because of a contract, they even said it in the intro
As stated they had to because of the contract & Cornald Maas was properly salty about it.
Shocker: RAI joining on time 🤣
Keşke Türkiye'de TRT yayınlasa. Onuda şimdi burada görürdük. Ama Eurovision'a katılmadığımız için yayında yok.
Joost disqualification felt differently... 😢
Das nen' ich mal "Gleichschaltung" der Medien! 😂
Spain isn’t on the list 😣 I’ll record next years Spanish Eurovision live feed 😋
0:08 What does "ORF TELETEXT 779" mean? I don't know much about European broadcasting yet, so I'm asking you a question. Thank you for the good video
Teletext is an alternate "channel" on television that shows you written information and other options like the option to activate subtitles (if the program itself doesn't have them by default) and also has some weird stuff like dating chats. It was invented in the 70s and a lot of countries have stopped using it. You access it by the number presented at the beginning of every show, in this case 779
@@diogodavid3557 Thank you for your answer, the country where I live is not a country where Teletext was very active, so it was difficult to find the data, but I find out thanks to you.
Next year can you join LRT TV?
Enable subtitles
Justice for Joost!!!
(Very cool video :D)
Justice for everybody! Whether a crime may have been committed by a famous singer or a little production person, everybody should be protected by the police and by their employer. If someone is a criminal suspect, they cannot just go to work as though nothing has happened. That would be wrong.
Why TVP1 shows 16+ rating on Eurovision
Finland
Is there a way to see live the international feed without passthrough by local channels?
No RTS feed? 😭🇷🇸
