I have the AVH x7800BT, can I just reuse the harness, mic and usb cable?
I believe it's the same wire harness and it will work fine. However, I recommend to directly compare the two wire harnesses with each other, pin by pin to be certain before you plug and play. I recommend to change to the microphone included with the AVH-3400NEX. If you used the USB extension that came in the box of the AVH-X7800BT it will be compatible with the AVH-3400NEX for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you used a different USB extension with the old receiver all bets are off and, I recommend to use the one included with the new in-dash receiver. What is the maximum horizontal projection of the screen before it tilts up? I know it can rest at an angle but I have a shelf less the two inches above the head unit.
I'd like to help, can you please be more specific? Measured from where to where? The front of the radio to the back of the screen? The back of the trim ring to the back of the screen? Or some other? You can find a video about screen angle adjustments here: ua-cam.com/video/ibWu0o2hW24/v-deo.html and here is a newer model: ua-cam.com/video/n64xy0BqwPI/v-deo.html
Can I use Waze directly from the device? (without use Android auto feature)
No. Waze has made the app work only inside Android Auto. You can find more videos with very similar operation to Pioneer AVH-3400NEX here: ua-cam.com/video/ObpKXwrN8us/v-deo.html Please be sure to install the latest firmware for your Pioneer AVH-3400NEX. The faceplate detachable is compatibl with the 3300nex end 4500nex ????
The Pioneer AVH-3300NEX has a detachable faceplate that is similar to the detachable faceplate on the Pioneer DEH-3400NEX. The Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX also has a detachable faceplate. The detachable face on the Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX is not compatible in any way to Pioneer AVH-3300NEX or AVH-3400NEX. Deckerd Otto great thanks so much 🙂!!
can we run network mode onthis one?
and can i use 2 drivers for high and 2 for mid. for front doors and another 2 for high and 2 for mid. for rear doors + 2 drivers for low in network mode?
thank you!
Yes. The Pioneer AVH-3400NEX will operate in Network Mode. As will the newer version of the product Pioneer AVH-3500NEX seen here: ua-cam.com/video/n64xy0BqwPI/v-deo.html Can you use speakers in the front doors and rear doors at the same time? This depends upon your amplifier. If you use a Pioneer GM-D9705 and wire the highs at 2 ohms on the "A" channel and the mids at 2 ohms on the "B" channel there is no problem. The subwoofer can operate on it's own channel. What is the height of the receiver top of the screen to bottom of the receiver? I would like to know if the screen will cover the AC vents on my car. Thank You.
With the screen open, from the bottom of the receiver to the top of the screen in 6.25 inches. Please note the screen does not need to remain open for operation. Check out this video for more information on screen operation: ua-cam.com/video/ibWu0o2hW24/v-deo.html
Deckerd Otto
Thank you i appreciate that.
Help Please, I bought this unit and took it overseas and the FM radio is not working and unlike other pioneer units it does not allow to change radio setting between US and EU, is there a solution, software update or something I can do to radio working? Thanks
The Pioneer AVH-3400NEX is designed and manufactured to operate in the North American region. In North American the FM radio station end in odd numbered decimals such as 89.1, 89.3 89.5 etc... I'm not aware of a way to change this on Pioneer AVH-3400NEX. I am confused.
Please tell a not-so-tech savvy person like me, what is the advantage(s) of each one compared to the other.
Which one is newer?
Can you please tell me what is the best one the AVH-3300NEX or the AVH-3400NEX?
Pioneer AVH-3300NEX and 3400NEX are nearly the same. 3400 does not have Parking Assist Lines for the optional backup camera. 3300 is from 2017, 3400 is from 2018 and newest AVH-3500NEX is from 2019. What is the main difference between this radio and the AVH 3300 NEX?
AVH-3400NEX does not have parking assist lines.
I've messaged everyone, everywhere about it. While the outward specs are otherwise identical, the notion is that the interface is faster to use overall, likely a better processor and RAM. Watching other demo videos it's indeed noticeable that the 3400 is working faster
Actually I've installed it in 98' BMW Z3 two weeks ago. It's so good that I don't care what the specs are, not thinking about my radio is the best praise in a stick 5 speed. It works smoothly without lag or frustration. The 13 band EQ is enough to overcome any shortcomings of a stock audio system without the immediate need to upgrade and or speakers. Carplay and Android Auto are as fast as using the latest phones. Maps and guidance work great, hands free is great. Makes it feel like a new car.

@@deckerdotto6035 mine does. they are static, but they are there.
Why can't you simply use your maps via iPhone through the bluetooth feature vs using a usb cable? You should be able to am I wrong???
Apple CarPlay works wireless on selected Pioneer in-dash receivers. You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/MkWffv3vB6Q/v-deo.html Apple CarPlay Wireless is a WI-FI connection to the in-dash receiver, not Bluetooth. On the Pioneer AVH-3400NEX, Apple Maps, Waze, or Google Maps works with Apple CarPlay plugged in through USB. You can see it operate on a very similar in-dash receiver here: ua-cam.com/video/_P3_aPDLK2E/v-deo.html You can find more videos about Pioneer AVH-3300NEX here: ua-cam.com/video/ibWu0o2hW24/v-deo.html and you can find more videos on Pioneer's You Tube Channel here: ua-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics
it would be nice, but the power required to achieve full wireless use of those features is not available as part of the 3400's Bluetooth capability. A few years ago when I bought mine, very few receivers offered full wireless. The price on those was steep.
Great Video
Alguien sabe cuantas veces promedio sirve sacar y meter la pantalla??.
I'm not aware of an average number of screen open/close cycles. The mechanism used to open and close the screen has been developed by Pioneer engineers and used in Pioneer receiver for more than 15 years. The system is reliable. The screen does not need to open and close each time you start the vehicle. You can learn more here: ua-cam.com/video/ibWu0o2hW24/v-deo.html And you can use the system with a wireless remote control when the screen is closed. As of October 2020, the modern version of this product is AVH-3500NEX.
