- Truck Camping Old School | Using a swag?
Tag along with me as I go on a summer overnight overland trip into the Ochoco Mountains of Oregon to try out a new old school truck camping gear load out and set up. On this trip I try a whole new load out based around using an Australian style swag for my sleeping set up. Join me as I figure out how well it works!
Hope you enjoy joining me for more of my overland, car camping, history hunting, and exploring in some of my other videos as well. Above all, I hope you find some adventures of your own!
Cheers,
Casey

Hoping we don't have to wait so long between vids Casey. I know life gets in the way sometimes but here's hoping for more great Coyote Works vids.
It seems like all you do now is publicity for what you have with you. Exaggerated. Not too sure about all this. 🤨
2024 may be the golden year for your older school content.
Hoping you do not give up on your channel.
Thanks my friend. I won’t give up on it for sure. I should be back on a pretty good pace for a while here for sure. Cheers!
Fantastic having you back!
Great to see you again!!!
Almost broke my fingers clicking on this video. Great to see another Coyote Video. Great to see you again on UA-cam. Good way to end the year. Hope you had a fantastic Christmas. Happy New Year!!!
Casey, good to see your post. Have missed you on UA-cam.
I started using swags 2 years ago , it's now my shelter of choice for overlanding , it's fast ,convenient and extremely comfortable . Best sleep i ever had camping .Thank you for sharing your experience ! 🙂
Great to see another video!!
Great to see you. Merry Christmas!
Holy crap it's good seeing you!!!
WELL, LOOKY WHO'S HERE. Lonnnng time waiting. Great camping.
Great to see you, Casey. I sure enjoy watching your content. I would be doing the same thing if I had friends who liked to camp. I know women can go by themselves, but it’s not something I’m totally confident about. I’ve got all the setup and even have a small trailer with everything. I guess I just need to step out of my comfort zone!
Man! It’s good to see you back, Casey!
Wow! Totally missed your videos. Great to see you again.
Good to see you back Casey.. The Aussies do have the light camping situation nailed down!
I’ve missed your content. Glad you’re back.
glad to see you back... 5 months is a long time. i know you have other things too do but anyway we missed you.
I know my friend. Sorry about the long delay. I’ll try to make up for it this year! Thanks for sticking around!

You're alive!! Yay!
Welcome back and Merry Christmas belated!!!!!!!!!!
Oregon sent all the wolfs to Colorado.
HAPPY NEW YEARS..
Nice!
Hello there, glad to see you back. I really enjoyed the video, and I will have to look into this swagman shelter.
Thank you. Good to be back!
I agree with the last comment, really good to see you again . Thanks for making it easy. 2 yrs ago I bought a swag like yours with the legs to elevate the tent a little. I enjoyed it myself. I'm now 71 and handi capped, bad knees so i needed a quick and easy setup. im using a pro4x 2015 model can't use a R.T.Tent. looking forward to spring and summer this next year, go fishing and perhaps a little dry Gold digging. Thanks for getting back on, your the one that inspired me some years ago. In the high desert of SoCal. As a suggestion, ask those who are parents to bring there kids to the camp outs to keep these sort of camping trips alive and well for the next generations. I fish, kids with parent , pro active
will remain families more often than not. Get those kids there own kits ..tents, back pack, gloves, cameras, ect. lots cheaper and safer, better for there health and state of mine, they will thank you later in life.
It’s great to see you again👍👍
I am so happy to see you back on You Tube!
Good to see you again
That´s the way I do my camping. All you need is a warmer bag for colder weather. Not sure how waterproof that tent is though. Can do your own seam sealing to make it bomber. I did that on my new Marmot tent a few years ago and ended up camping in 6 inches of water at Crater Lake campground. None if it leached into the tent. My wife appreciated that!
Been to long! Missed ya Casey
Nice to have you back! We have a similar double swag thing, really just a bug screen with a fly, for car camping. We are done sleeping on the ground though. We set ours on a 2 person cot. Kinda nice. Off the ground and gives us a seat.
Mr. Casey, so glad that you are back. I thought you fell off the face of the earth. HAHAHA. I figured that you might have gotten tired of the You Tube Channel and didn't want to do videos anymore. I was so surprised when I saw that there was a resent video and now, I am catching up on all that you have (3). Seeing your new table and chairs, I really liked the old one you had in your jeep about a year or so ago. Hope you at least make a video every 2 weeks or so. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
Been looking for a long time for new content. Sure glad to see a couple of new ones are up. Much appreciated 👍
Nice place to camp. Great looking gear
Cool camping trip. I like the swag but im still working getting a RTT. I have the cash for a used one. Might pull the trigger soon. Im excited to see your next adventures from 2023
The rooftop tent is a great way to go. Still my favorite for most of my trips but I did enjoy the sway and do like it for warmer weather trips with the pickup truck. Cheers!
Good to see you out again, Casey! Those swags are really inviting! Use the truck/SUV to carry all of the supplies, then just set up a cozy little swag for a night's sleep. Seems much more durable than a tent, too. Next video, see how it holds up in a downpour staying dry and warm inside. That'd be the deal maker/breaker. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL
I hear you. I haven’t used it yet in rain or snow and I am curious how well it will do in those conditions. It’s a great warm weather set up for sure though. Cheers!
I use the swag bag (which is also waterproof) to put my boots and clothes in. Zip it up, and no worries about critters in my boots or clothes. Since it's waterproof, there is no need to take it inside with me. I enjoy using a stretcher with mine so the bag goes underneath the stretcher. One other thing, since I'm camping from the Jeep, I throw in a Therma-Rest Dreamtime and put that under the swag mattress... talk about total comfort! You can't beat the ventilation in those swags either!
P.S.
I also throw a tarp in the swag with poles so I can use the tarp over the swag when it rains, keeping everything dry
That's the way to do it mate, string a tarp up and put the swag underneath. I keep a plastic shopping bag in there to put my boots in.
That’s the way. I use an old dry bag for my boots. No way I’d ever leave them on the ground, between the spiders and the centipedes.
@Alan.livingston Yeah I'm in Australia, no way my boots are staying outside all night. 🕷🐍🦂
Colorado got their wolves from Oregon to begin the reintroduction in that state.
Great to see you! Happy New Year!
the swags are good when your on the move........even better when you use them under a side awning off the truck, if you dont want to do that you can set up a fly over it. incase it rains. gives you somewhere to sit and cook Plenty of options out there 2 have fun with. thnx for the vid. have fun camping
Been wondering about you !
Casey so glad to see you back. Missed your videos of the East side of the mountains I live on the wet side.
Awesome! Thank you!
Holy Crap! I was just thinking about your channel and what you've been up to. Ok, now I'll watch the video. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year my friend!
Good to see another video posted. Keep them coming my good man!
Love the whole set up! 6 months old tho...
Good to see you out and about again. Been kinda quiet on the Coyote Works Channel lately. Next you'll have to try a trailer! I love mine. Hope to see you again on the trails soon! George.
I would definitely like to try a trailer at some point. Good to hear from you!
Hey Casey really like your swag setup. When you woke up in the morning and were shaking out your boots all I could see was that axe propped up next to your table. Luckily the local axe murderer wasn't in the area (at least you were armed).
Happy to see you again Casey! Great video!
Awesome as always.Welcome back, had missed your regular uploads. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Thanks for watching! Good to be back for sure!
WOW I didn't realize how long it's been since your last video. glad to see you pop up in the feed
Thank you my friend! More to come!
Man, it’s great to see you! Happy New Year!
Great video! That looks like a great way to camp out of the back of the truck. Great to see you back. Well done indeed! 😀
Good to see you, I'm liking the new gear. Hope all is well.
Great stuff thank for coming back :)
My pleasure!
One thing that I have always liked is the Cot Tent. Like a swag but up off the ground. Good to see you back Casey. It's been too long.
I’d like to try one of those cot tents at some point too. Always thought those looked like a pretty comfortable way to go. Cheers!
Glad you're back!!!
Me too!!
Woohoo! Coyote.....👍👍
🤙
I was just thinking about you and your videos the other day. Glad to see a post.
Awesome! Thank you!
I presume this video was made some time ago? Hope life is good.
Great Video!!!! Happy New Year Casey!!!!
Glad to see you back! On your gear….I personally prefer your Gazelle tent (I bought one after seeing your video) it’s bigger and taller. No campfire? Burn ban I suspect. Hope we see more of you from now on.
Looks like a trip from the summer. Still great to see Casey. Hope he is doing well.
Hmmm, gonna give that blackberry lemonade a try.
500 Thumbs Up! Love your videos, Casey, glad to see you out camping again.
Awesome! Thank you!
No regrets, Coyote.
Great to see you back! Love your video content!
Good to see you again. Loved it.
Hey stranger, was just about to text ya...lol
Nice video, but... I get that much room in my 4Runner. And you have a gazelle, so do I. Fast and you can stand up and I have a cot. The gazelle is only 30lbs, the cot maybe 20? I never weighed that. And that lets me leave a camp site while I head out. And I also have a roof top tent which I am close to dumping. The rtt is definitely the fastest, but it weighs about 130 lb. Yeah - I watched those Aussie's with the swag. To be honest this video was the one that killed it for me. They are just too big and heavy when packed up. There is no upside to them over what I have. So thank you for the great video! Make some more!
I don’t disagree with that logic. I use the Gazelle and cot set up quite a bit too. Definitely in cooler weather. The only real advantage to the way I’m using the swag is that my pad, sleeping bag, and pillow are already in place and rolled up inside it. All I have to do is unroll the swag and steak it out. With the gazelle I do have to set up my cot, sleeping pad, pillows, and any other stuff i want in the tent. It’s not much of a difference but it is slightly quicker and easier with the swag.
Welcome back, Coyote! The only thing I would add is pull-top cans (just in case the can opener fails) and PBR!
I dunno about Casey but I always carry a P-38 army type can opener in my wallet. Takes a little bit to open a can but gets the job done. I've even cut the top out of a PBR can for a bush craft water glass.
i have been wondering about you!!! so glad to see you back posting again!!! supper looked awesome... thanks for sharing with us!! hope you have a great new year!!
Good to have you back
Great video trying out the new swag. Very nice setup for sure.
Great to see you out using the gear. It's always awesome to talk gear and over-landing with you. Looking forward to more great videos!
We need some more camping trips!
Where'd you go? Must be some good stories?
It is fantastic to see another coyote works video. Wish you a happy newyear
Happy new year to you too my friend!
I would never leave my camp items unattended….
I’ve been ripped off and friends have been ripped off…
When you think no one was around…
I hear you. That can be a risk. Most of the time I’m in areas where there is no one else around for miles. But I wouldn’t leave my gear unattended if I thought there was any chance of there being other people in the area. Cheers!
Great to have you back!!
Thank you. Good to be back!
So good to see you back!!! I’ve missed your adventure videos. Another great video, thanks for allowing us to join you. I hope you have a blessed New Year.
Thank you! You too!
Last time I seen Casey was on his open invite trail ride. 98 k1500, with RPod travel trailer. Plan to be on trailride in 2024. Out!
..."I saw"...
after 5 months
Merry Christmas and happy new year.
Cool setup Casey..
Thanks, Merry Christmas to you as well!
So nice to see you again Casey! 👍👍
Thank you. It’s good to be back!
Glad to have you back! Your videos have surely been missed.
I appreciate that!
Cheers.
It’s great to have you back Casey.
Thanks my friend!
Thanks for taking us along on the adventure! Was just wondering when we'd hear from you again!
You bet! Glad to have you along!
Good to see you and your gear video again. I think I'll stick with the Gazelle T4 for tent camping. Not as big a package and seems much faster and roomier.
Cheers
Great to see you again…really enjoyed the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great to see you back. Have a blessed 2024
Thanks my friend! Good to be back!
Yay! Thought about you today. Missed you!😁
