Considering the Abyss is ''technically infinite'', with a point(layer) where ''all that defines Reality'' literally **ENDS** ... Yeah, even all D&d gods wouldn't go there and/or beyond that ''End''. Even the 'Lady of Pain' doesn't bother with it.

I remember that Greyhawk had an interesting explanation for the Blood War. Devils make plots, Demons break plots. An infinite number of Devils make plots, an infinite number of Demons break those plots.
In previous editions, evil souls went to Carceri, in between the home planes of the Demons and Devils, and therefore also the most common battleground for the Blood War. It's the home of the Yugoloths, the Neutral Evil fiends, who play both sides against each other. I'd like to see a video on those guys.

Yugoloths are originally from Hades but currently headquartered in Gehenna; I've never heard of them being present on Carceri in any numbers, and it wouldn't make much sense, given that Carceri is a prison-plane specifically designed to be almost impossible to leave.

I always found weird that Demons, which are the very embodiement of Chaos, evolve over time into fixed forms like Pokemon... It would make a lot more sense (in-universe) if they evolved "randomly" with unique forms and characteristics
I thought the same but at 8:06 it shows demon lords that look nothing like each other.
Also it’s stated that the tiers are simply guidelines to help mortals grasp their rough power structure. Each demon is completely unique. There’s even a creature in the 4th edition Book of Vile Darkness called a “Demon Horde.” Which is just a spattering of demons, talons, claws, paws, everything nightmare fuel.
Yeah most of the lore while playing is basically the DM's if you wanna put it that way.

and may also be a devil spy plus of the demons lords he seems the most chill like he enjoys his games with his long time girlfriend honestly one reason why i think one hasn't killed the other yet is they would be bored without their games
naw, the real spy is his chamberlain Verin, whom i am convinced may be an aspect of asmodeus in disguise, keeping an eye on his son.
Grazzt is always a neat addition to fiendish Biggest Bads.

Grazzt being an ex-devil is one of the poorer decisions in the canon IMO; he is the incarnation of the Black Man from the traditional Witch's Sabbath, and so while he might be "the devil" in a sense, he also adheres far more to the notion of a demon, a being of pure primal anarchy, rather than being some sort of fallen angel or dark mirror to the gods of traditional churches.

I'm currently playing through descent into avernus, and it's brutal. We just made a deal with Bell to get his support to overthrow zariel.
DnD party duo, which consists of:
Doom Slayer, a paladin/barbarian multiclass and
Mick Gordon, a "bard" who plays industrial metal
Mick Gordon also multiclasses into artificer to make use of various heavy mechanized tools as instruments
Pale Night is my favourite creature of the abyss, and is pretty damn powerful. Known as the "mother of demons." That moniker is almost literal.
The Doomslayer would have a field day in the DnD world. Goblinslayer probably would too.
Goblinslayer perhaps, but the Doom Slayer probably would struggle due to d&d being propped full of very powerful magic, especially when it comes to the devil and demon side

Lex Smithee Doomslayer’s Armor is Magic. The more he rips and tears, the more he heals. Also, may d&d spells require saving throws. Based on Doomslayer’s personality alone, his saves (not to mention resistances) would be kinda crazy. 🤔 I bet he’d have (if 5th edition) something similar to Bear Totem and Rage. If Pathfinder, he’d easily have many of the Barbarian’s defensive rage powers. Unfortunately, he’s somewhat reliant on power ups, but he could maybe mimic some of those with single-use Magic items... idk 😐
@@vaughnhelthira1704 The problem is more the vast amount of save or suck spells, banishment, planeshift etc. You only need to fail once, and you're pretty much dead. Doomslayer is definitely powerful, but he doesn't really have ways to deal with hax, ya know?

I see you are largely snubbing 4e's variations. For those interested:
4e Devils: Lead by Asmodeus, they are the twisted forms of a group of angels who rebelled against their patron deity. Asmodeus was first among them and overthrew his master with such thorough efficiency he went so far as to remove all traces of his name from the world and the akashic records. As a final vengeance though, he and his army were cursed to be as tainted in form as they were in spirit. They rule from what used to be their forgotten lord's domain and constantly vie for power in the Astral Sea. Asmodeus is also entirely responsible for Tieflings, as they came about due to a pact between him and the nobles of the once-human empire of Bael-Turoth (which destroyed itself with war both without and within). As a notable aside, there are full of evil angels in 4e who serve their various terrible gods. Only those who sided with Asmodeus during that time became the original devils.
4e Demons: The damage left behind by deployment of the Shard of Evil during the Dawn War (the conflict between the gods and the primordials) left a tainted scar in the Elemental Chaos. From this wound spills demons; elemental beings warped and deformed by the energies of the hole in reality now referred to as the abyss.
Orcus is actually kinda interesting to me for some reason I don’t know why though.

I personally prefer the 2nd edition Blood War material for my Evils, particularly the role of the Yugoloth in the Blood War and the purported origin story. Are Yugoloth still a thing in 4e and 5e?

In dungeons and dragons alignment is far more important than most people think not so much in terms of gameplay . Law and chaos are more than just obeying and disobeying legislation instead they are etched in the very fabric of the cosmos they represent freedom vs safety ,logic vs instinct ,organisation vs randomness, tactics vs beastly rage etc

Not one of TES's better videos; it was a particularly strange choice to talk about how devils follow a strict hierarchy, and then show the *demons* promoting up through the ranks in a linear fashion. It would be far more chaotic to have any demon able to turn into any other demon at any moment, going up or down in power with no logic whatsoever.

The D&D 2nd amendment: The right to rip arms.
The Arch Devils that didn't climb to their positions of power, like Asmodius and Zariel, were actually Angels. The Deity they served? The Deity of Law and Order (forgot his name tho). Since they were all creations of this deity, they hated the Demons just as much as their deity, and at first, they did actually drive out & wipe out the Demons in the plane that they now inhabit.
At first it was an outpost, then the longer they stayed, the more they changed and eventually became the Devils.
Funny bit though, Asmodius was the one who made this Pact with the Deities. Saying that any evil doer who dies will come to the Devils and thus their celestial planes will not contain any evil mortals. The Deities agreed without reading all of this REALLY LONG contract.
Eventually, the Deities discovered the Devils were deliberately pushing mortals to do evil, which meant a lot less souls would go to them, they saw this as a cheat and complained til Asmodius silenced them by pointing out the text allowing exactly that (albeit tiny and open to interpretation).
So, the first beings that Asmodius screwed over with a deal was the Deities themselves.
Now you know how it all started, and why Demons AND Devils are hated by Celestials.

One interesting thing about Devils not mentioned; because they require mortal souls to swell their ranks, and most of the fighting of the Blood War happens in Avernus (meaning permanent deaths for Devils), sometimes the forces of good will reluctantly turn a blind eye to the Devils corrupting mortals, as they understand that without the souls the Devils would likely lose and all other planes would be invaded by Demons.
5e also made the Devils a lot stronger than the Demons, at least above the regular Monster Manual denizens. The strongest of Demon Lords only roughly compare to the weakest of Archdukes.
Actually Exploring the Tanar'ri Demons as of 3.5 (and possibly 3.0) are made from Mortal Souls, like Devils. Once mortal souls started getting channeled into the Abyss they started being molded into slaves by the Obyriths and eventually took over the plane. The Obyriths, in turn, are the ones made from the plane itself, having been around far longer than mortals have. Good examples of the Obyriths are Pazuzu & Pale Night

Baphomet is a humanoid with the head of a goat and cloven hooves (often depicted with the hind quarters of a goat as well)
Similar to a Minotaur but distinct enough to be an observable difference

There is one part of the Lore I think you may have missed out on... (Either that or it was revised or dropped at some point when I wasn't looking)
Way, way back in the earliest time in the D&D multiverse their were the Divine Beings of Order we know today as the Gods & Goddesses of various pantheons and in opposition to them their were weird Lovecraftian type creatures called Osgaloths? I think the forces of Order warred with them sending their Angels in to fight them and though they were victorious as a result of those terrible wars the angels that fought in them became corrupted.
Now I am not certain of exactly what happened next but the fallen angels were cast out and cast off by the gods and due to some sort of legal trickery by the 1st and greatest of the fallen angels "Lucifer" they gained a pseudo-independence (Basically the gods did not just send their remaining heavenly forces against them as long as they stuck to their Hells and only took evil souls.)
So The Devils are actually sort of the remnants of Fallen Angels while the Demons are something like the second coming of Chaos Entities.

This whole concept makes a lot of sense. Devils in real world mythology are always plotting and scheming whilst the concept of a demon is a non-human entity that delights in destruction and torment.
