I've always loved giants over dragons. I just loved their cultures, how they're like humans but with the might of gods, and how everything about them feels so grand from their 50 foot tall buildings to how how they tame mighty beasts like rocs as pets. In my Saturday game I'm playing a fire genasi Rune Knight who thinks he's a giant cursed to be small. He's secretly working with the giant military to take the land back from the small folk, but he's slowly come to realize humans aren't so bad. Hell, they treat him better than "his people" ever have. I'm excited to see how his story unfolds.
@Бошњак D&D is a co-operative story telling game. It's contents and even it's style highly depends with which group and Dungeon Master you play. Some groups preferer great wars with political intrigue, while others play tactical monster hunting games, so even whether or not they use the lore of the original books is up to the Dungeon Master. It all depends on what the group wants to play.
one thing ive always enjoyed about giants is that since they have a concrete system of species organization, you can get out of most encounters by convincing them you are on a mission sponsored by a giant higher than them in the ordening, though ive found claiming your end goal is to kill a dragon is also received well given their war in the old days
I always wanted to play a giant with primordial dwarfism standing a similar height to most humanoids. He hangs out with adventurers, because they don't bully him the way his own kind do.
I started my first ever (practice) campaign last week and tomorrow we will probably continue. To me it feels like this is quite the coincidence and probably more if the dungeon master mentions giants tomorrow.
How is it going so far? Started at lvl 1 or at 5? Did you trasnition an existing campaign or start brand new? Im considering that Adventure simce i only have 3 sessions or so be4 we finish LMoP
@@itaykerensm1629 I decided to have everyone start at level three and do a truncated version of Chapter one. We're kind of in chapter three now with all the players at level six, but they manged to find the Hill Giant's lair early so I've had to improvise.
what i allways thought would be a good concept is that a human was a orphan as a newborn baby and adopted by giants but developed physical abilitys that could rival the greatest of giants speed strenght durability ect ect and would become accepted by the groups of giants as one of their own
I'm not too familiar with DnD, but Giants are my favorite creature from fantasy genres. The fact that they're humans but just scaled upwards kind of gives the chance for both groups to co-exist in some way.
A giant's worst nightmare are lumberjacks. Why? Because the bastards hide in the woods, waiting for the right time to strike. Never know when an angry tribe of lumberjacks will come charging forth!
When will they start making d&d movies in the modern day because they have made movies in the past that weren’t that great but still good enough I guess but with the effort of Technology to day it could bring a lot of kids imaginations to life we will just have to wait until Quarantine is over especially a movie about the giant and dragon war but getting a bit of topic here there are a lot of animals that are coming back to locations or habitats that we don’t take care of so mother nature did one thing right but then on the other hand it’s sad for those people that can’t pay rant or there bills because we’ll of 19 Covid-19
There's a series of movies on Amazon Prime that came out a few years ago called Mythica. It's heavily inspired by Dungeons and Dragons and if you watch the popular tabletop streams like We're Alive, Vampire: The Masquerade, etc. you'll see some familiar faces. Not the best movies around, but, definitely entertaining.
I've always seen the giants not as "living" beings, that reproduce and have families like humans, but rather entities spawned by the natural world, like elementals or lesser gods of the sort. Mostly because the idea of enormous humanoids multiplying like humans is quite disturbing.
*So I know fuck all of DND apart from: 1 bad, 20 perfect. But I have come up with a "mage" type character:* *name: Voodoo child* *class: mage?* *total hp: 1000* *voodoo child's only form of attack is to lock on to an opponent and then damaging themself by either running head first into enemy attacks or having other part members attack them. I've never understood how Stone Giants can accept that there are other giants in the world that have higher and lower ranks than them, accepting their role in the superficial Ordning, yet believe that the world these giants live in is a dream. How can you accept that the giants are real yet justify that the world they live in is not? Why do they value the idea of the Ordning more than the value things they can actually see and touch? It just feels like a leap in logic that ruins the immersion for me
i suggest watching the Glass Cannon podcast playthough of the Pathfinder AP Giant Slayer. its a pretty good actual play podcast tho the DM is EVIL!!!1!!!1!!!
They can also launch you into the stratosphere with a sing- wait, this isn't Skyrim

I swear.
There's music from Skyrim in the background tho

Yeah boys, it's ordining time.
A podcast I listen to just did a Giants episode a few weeks ago. It was based on mythology, but still, kinda fun. Great episode, Mangg.

I always found giants to be some of the most fascinating creatures in D&D. An absolute plethora of lore and story telling possibilities.
